- Authorities say a suspect eluded pursuing officers after allegedly driving recklessly and ramming an officer's patrol vehicle on August 15. The Middleton Police Department in Ohio said the pursuit began when an officer witnessed the suspect allegedly firing shots out of his car window. According to police, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Mahliak Davis. Police say they have a warrant for Davis' arrest for multiple felony charges.

Yet another video that reinforces the incompetence of cops these days!
And reinforces how they actively put the public in far worse danger than the suspects crime thay chase them for. Speeding and chasing thru neighborhoods where kids could be playing.
And in most states the cops aren't liable for any damages as long as their red and blues are on
It's not a laughing matter, the single biggest thing to reduce crime is for the public to respect and trust our cops! Most are competent and trustworthy but still far too many are not and its must be addressed!

Embarrassed to say I live in Ohio. I used to teach/train courses in high speed driving for law enforcement & other government protection agencies. That pursuing officer was literally out driven by the criminal. I understand that the official has to be more cognizant of the public's safety. There were plenty opportunities to box him in and/or pit him safely. Unfortunately, most likely in this case, department policies probably limited what the pursuing officer could do. Pathetic that a beat up old Pontiac can stay ahead of a police vehicle.

But y'know. This is the defund the police we all heard for 6 years
I seen a video yesterday where a cop pulled a guy over. Used his radio to tell him to get out, the guy took off. The cop pitted him immediately, he wasn’t playing. It should be done early if there’s a problem. All should be taught how to do it.
Why bother with the pursuit! What was the stratergy? Sit back & observe only! Pretty weak effort.
Sometimes the cops will end a dangerous pursuit if they have been identified. First rule should be to save innocent lives.
I respectfully disagree. The first rule should be to end a pursuit as quickly as possible. This keeping back and giving the suspect space is garbage and tends to cause more injury and property damage. The quicker you end it the less chance innocent bystanders will be involved.
In Michigan they try their best to limit high speed pursuits. If it's a traffic violation or other non violent offense they'll generally let them go if it gets to be too risky. There are exceptions, of course, if it's a wanted murderer, a probable drunk driver, medical condition, etc. We've had too many instances of innocent people getting hurt of even killed by people running from a shoplifting charge.
Also Sheriffs officers and MSP officers in unmarked cars cannot initiate chases. They can monitor traffic but must call ahead to a marked unit. MSP units are among the most unique in the country. Almost all are dark blue with one main emblem, and one heritage emblem. They also have that big red light on top. No MSP units have bars. Aside from the big red light they also have blue and red lights all around the units. A
Inside at the top of the windshield and rear window. Inside the side windows in the head lights or pushbar or both and tail lights. The big red “gumball” is now LED, so can be seen from a distance even in snow since I’m pretty sure is a low frequency light.
Of course they’ve also got that transparent plastic “Stop” sign that runs along the front hood and can be seen by cars as they pull them over. They light up so you know that you’re the one that’s getting pulled over.
I totally agree with you 💯
So often people let their emotions get in the way thinking “they can’t let him get away, he’s breaking the law,” even if it means more risk to the community.

Reform!
Where I live cops are not supposed to pursue a suspect trying to flee in a vehicle if they are in a residential neighborhood. They still do it anyway, though.
@@GangsterInternet have you seen the grappler device? How often are these pursuits ending in gun battles? These cops can't handle a car, gun or tazer... I don't trust them with pepper spray. They're unconstitutional also. There are better ways to function as law enforcement than this. You'd be screaming if your child was struck by a cop car or bullet. Maybe not though... maybe you are a cop.
Never understood why people running from the cops use blinkers lol
just a good ol boy. never meanin no harm. beats all you never saw been in trouble with the law since the day they was born. MAKIN THEIR WAY. THE ONLY WAY THEY KNOW HOW. but thats just a little bit more than the law will allow.
