One of the best state championship games of all time!! What was interesting was that UMD's playoff game went to 3 overtimes as well. They showed this game on the tv screens at Amsoil Arena as well as the main scoreboard during the intermissions. It was quite the roller coaster ride for fans across the northland that day!!
i remember watchin this game at home....damn what i game!! and damn what a way to end the game. Kyle Rau was amazing that game and its so awesoem to have him playin for the Gophers. he brings so much life to the team. it'll be amazing to see him in the NHL someday
Everybody says raus not going to make it he will make it kid one of the most hard working kid I have seen and he one of the greatest leaders not to mention the size in the nhl is slowly decreasing so yes he will make it

I don't understand all the hate toward Rau. You should support him. He is your homegrown talent, why don't you want him to succeed? I for one have a lot of respect for this guy. He plays with heart, what more can you ask for?
@coborn35 Ya youre right Rau did get rocked 10+ times yet he still worked his ass off more than anyone on the ice and scored the game winner in the State Tournament. Thats a sign of a good player.
Too bad they got beat by Armstrong in the first round of playoffs this year.. But still such a sick goal by Rau. One of the best high school games I've ever seen

THe reason that team won squirt Fargo tournament, peewee state tournament , bantam state and 2 high school tournaments is they work as a team and play as a team

Rau was a great high school player and will be a good college player but he won't make the NHL. He's got no size, plus he's gotta compete with all the other college kids plus junior leagues in the US and Canada as well as all Europe! Watch him now cause in 4 years you won't see him anymore.
