Thank you for the video. Replaced my friends screen and everything worked like a champ. I did have to open it back up a few times because I didn't have the ribbon cables pushed in all the way. After that, everything worked flawlessly. Thanks!
I followed these instructions to the T and everything is working...thank you so much!!!
Thanks for this video. I just completed the replacement of my TF300T digitizer. I did notice that when I put the small piece of masking tape and the black foam pieces back on, the "Phantom Touches" issue returned. I just left them off and it works perfectly so far.
Excellent video. I followed along and was able to replace the cracked digitizer on my unit. Thanks for posting this.
pretty good, only thing skipped was the metal bracket on the side of the screen. i figured it out easily enough. thanks for the video
Thank you for video, it helped me a lot in cracked digitizer replacement. One more comment, watermark makes it difficult to follow instructions. Makeing it smaller and placeing in one of upper corners will make video even more usable. Again THANKS A LOT for posting this video
Very helpful video, however, I have a few suggestions:
1. You don't need to remove the 6 screws of the docking connector;
2. It's not necessary to remove the black tape on the back of the LCD display;
3. Splitting the LCD display from the digitizer is definitely not as easy as it looks. It's glued together. I used a hair dryer to soften the glue and a really sharp knife to cut it. It's nearly impossible to split the LCD from the digitizer without damaging the glass of the digitizer.
Thanks for the video without it I would have never attempted it. I too tore the backlight connection away when I was peeling back the tape, I am going to see if I can figure out the diagram to reconnect the wires but I think it was torn too close to the digitizer
Thanks for the video! mine had a broken screen in the corner long cracks and a chip in the middle. Started ghost touching and then went altogether. Got one off of Ebay for 31.00 shipped. You have to take off the back panel ,which is just snapped on. Get something plastic super skinny and use 2 of them one to pry up and hold and one to slide. Then you can see what type of screen you have it is written on the plastic tab that comes off the digitizer screen.
Once you get the correct number off it then you can order the matching digitizer,if you do get the same one you will get ghost touching and other errors.
I didn't need to take the black tape off the bottom to words the end of the dis-assembly there. Getting the broken digitizer off the screen was not that hard ether. The only problem I had was one of the little tiny metal discs that sit on top of the plastic ribbons that come off the board came off and stuck to my bench. There there to go under the buttons on the snap on back cover, to make a metal contact so the plastic volume and on off buttons will operate the shorts on the ribbons. Took me a while to find it. So be careful with the back case and the board while your waiting on your digitizer to arrive.
Over all allot easier than you might think put all your screws in a small glasses and separate the few long screws from the mostly tiny ones. The back snaps on and off and the digitizer is just glued to the screen frame on the front ,I just stuck the new digitizer to the old glue that was holding the other on.
Thanks again for the Video !
Would be nice if you removed the REPAIR MY DEVICE crap but oh well
great job! it helped a lot.
But i think there was no need to take off the black tape the backside of LCD ?!
Awesome video! Just a suggestion your name is in the way. I couldn't see what you were doing on the right side after you took off the 2 black pieces (1:38).
Hey there! Thanks to your video my tablet's LCD IS BROKEN! You easily took the LCD off the digitizer, when I tried to do the same, my LCD broke because of THE GLUE, THAT YOU MISSED IN YOUR GUIDE!
DEAR USERS! READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU TRY TO REPLACE YOUR DIGITIZER!
When you'll have to remove LCD, pay attention to the glue between LCD and Digitizer! You have to cut it really slow and soft, otherwise your LCD will be destroyed!
If you have tried removing the digitizer from the frame, you know that it is not as easy as pictured here. After having unsuccessfully tried to even begin to pry the digitizer from the frame, I decided to place it in a shallow pan and fill that pan with very hot tap water. I first broke out the window inside the frame and then proceeded to to pry from the INSIDE between the frame and what was left of the digitizer screen still stuck to the frame. It proved to be difficult, still, but doable, and took about 45 minutes to go around the entire frame with just a kitchen knife with a short blade. The gentler heat of the water did no harm to the frame.
Hi repairmydevice,
I am very interested in what happens during the camera cut at 7:04 . How did you loosen the adhesive? A hair dryer probably, but for how long? Please reply. Thanks for the great tutorial.
I believe you just saved me $100.
Great Video. Thanks.
I was able to disassemble my TF300 by just looking at your video. THANKS !!!
The problem I'm facing now is which adhesive I should use in order to attach the plastic and metal brackets to the new screen.
Can you suggest?
6. The glass of the digitizer will probably shatter into 1000 pieces. Needless to say these pieces are sharp. I recommend using eye protection when removing the black plastic bezel from the glass.
7. The bezel is pretty thin and will break when you bend it too far.
I hope this tips are useful to anyone who tries to replace the digitizer :)
Thanks for the video
Use a blow-drier to heat the glass will make the glue more soft
Great video got mine apparat i just need to know what you used to replace the adhesive with on the bezel and digitizer
thanks for your time.
i think i bought the wrong one,
There are touch screens for Asus TF300/TF300T which are not compatibleVersion 69.10121.G01 or 69.10121.G03
My touch screen digitizer glass wasn't broken, it just started to work randomly. Some parts of the screen was working, some don't .
I cleaned up the glass, then it was worst , then stop working.
I never drop the tablett.
Hi buddy. Could you post a video on how to replace the digitilizer glass on an Asus ME301 T please? Also could you give us a quote for yourself doing it? I can't seem to separate the LCD from the glass. Terrified of breaking it, my heart was pounding. Thanks
yes you need to change the firmware in the touch screen controller
hello, you can change as easily the Asus screenen touch nexus 7?
excellent video, thank you very much
Good luck sir 🎉
WARNING - On my model, the 5158N, the digitiser was much more firmly bonded to the backplane than this video suggests. Even with liberal use of the heat gun, the digitiser shattered into many dangerous shards, thick gloves are highly recommended when making this part of the repair.
Yes, the screen break will usually kill the digitizer. Don't forget that you can use the touchpad or plug a mouse into the USB on the base and still be able to use the device.
Very few people has the docking station. No usb or touchpad on the tablett.
Thanks much for the video. I'm in the process of repairing mine as well. However, since there are different digitizer versions (G01, G02, G03), I'm unsure which one the purchase. After searching the tablet I cannot seem to locate tis info. I've looked on the digiztizer cable strip and the assy, but nothing...Could someone please let me know their thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
Mario, cuan importante será la cinta doble lado que sujeta la touch con el maco de plástico interior? Porque yo he reutilizado la cinta que pude salvar de la anterior , pero obviamente son pedazos no continuos los que he puesto. Será ese el problema?
Did you also put new double sided adhesive between the LCD and the Digitizer? I can't tell from the video.
I'm just starting to learn this tablet repair. I like to be prepared for the job. Could you tell me where I can get the tools you used in this video?
Hello, Thank you for the info, It has been replaced the screen digitalizer but this is not working, are any thing more that I need to do? Thank you in advance!!!
this was very helpful
You can replace the back light ,or solder some weirs there and isolate them properly
Should you reset the device after repairing it?
you need to launch a calibration tool from Asus. I replaced about 5 tpuchscreens, not one of them did not work without calibration.
Well apparently i will have to make that kind of operation asap. Tell me... Im getting confused . This part You've replaced it's a digitizer? Screen lies on top left corner in the movie am i correct ? My screen is quite properly working I need to replace touch screen i believe.
Hi there and thanks for a great video. What name does those tools have?
Be careful folks using this video due to poor camera position, lighting and the companies logo on the bottom of the screen at 4:56 into the video. The removal of the black vinyl strip on the lower left corner is a very delicate process there is a small copper ribbon cable for the back light that can tear or rip while removing the vinyl adhesive backed tape off that circuit board. The technician in the video breezes right through this but you can't really make out the care he is taking with that small ribbon that comes from underneath the bottom left corner. When I was peeling back the vinyl mine ripped straight off!
Sabes por ahi lei que para ese tipo de problemas se tenia rootear la tablet porque era un problema de la version del digitador, bueno gracias de todos modos se siente bien no ser el unico que tiene este problema
Hello
Did you check the revision off the touch screen before you start replacing
I fixed the TF300TG, I have many problems with the touch. is not very sensitive to the touch.
Maybe when I reassembled, I reversed the screws? It now makes more thickness?
Thank you very much!
Encore merci!
How did you separate the screen from the display mine was glued together with some adhesive
Did you check the revision off the touch screen ?
Great tutorial, it worked fine for me, but after a couple of days the screen wend black, i hear sound but nothing is showing.
I can connect to my PC and see all the data, but that's it.
Doe anyone have any advice for me?
Hello
Use some double sided tape you can find to buy one in a petrol station
Thank you for share this video but I have a question that can I use this video to change my TF600 screen?? Is it similar??
question: does it broken screen usually kills the touchscreen? my son broke the screen in half and I can't type my passcode anymore and I am wondering if it's worth changing the screen or not? thank you
I've changed my touch, but some times it responds ok and another times does'nt. Please, I need your help. What could it be happenning?
Thanks and congratulatons from Perú.
i just broken my screen, asus tf700 is there any solution, where can i find a new screen?
4. Be very careful when removing the black plastic bezel from the digitizer. It's glued together in the same way the LCD screen is glued to it. I used a really sharp knife to cut the glue between the bezel and the glass. The black glue/tape can be removed pretty easily afterwards.
5. Be very careful not to put excess stress on the LCD panel. The glass in this panel is really thin and will break very easily.
What type of glue or tape did you use to get the new glass on?
I'm assuming that this would also work on the 700t model?
Hey, I have the similar problem with mine have you found a way to do something to unbrick it? Is it even possible?
My transformer pad has a small crack in the top right just off the screen but recently the right half of the screen has stopped working... Is it likely to be a loose connection or do I need a new digitizer?
Hi dude, how are you?? Nice video, congrats!!
I have a TF300T (and love it!!) of 16 GB and is bricked...a hard brick. Do you know if I can change my rom and put a 32 GB ROM with the original firmware?? I am from Brasil and Asus here is a chaos. Thanks!!
Hi, is there any system to know the correct version of touch panel (G01, G03 or other) without the old one? My friend had lost the old cracked and i can't read the flat...
Same problem, also made sure I got the 69.10I21.G01 replacement which is the same as the original. Is it possible that I hurt that chip that the digitizer plugs into, because I just plugged it out without lifting the white switches?
Have you tried using a heat gun to soften the glue between the frame and the digitizer? I wonder if that might work.
No need any hot gun , you can pry off the touch screen , no heat needed .
that is a part that should have been included, heating the sides gently lowers risks of breaking the lcd
Tengo un ASUS Transformer PAD TF300T. Compré el digitalizador de China a través de una empresa mexicana llamada Treemarket. El cambio lo he hecho yo, siguiendo las instrucciones de este video de RepairMyDevice.
How is it possible that when you set the brightness contrast After replacing the digitizer that the LCD causes a crack?
Can I use this video to tear down my tf101? I need to replace my LCD panel.
When I get all the screws out the LCD panel is glued to the glass digitizer. How do you deal with that?
I've reused the tape remains that came with the touch damaged, they are only fragments, not continuous. Could this be the reason for my touch only work sometimes? Does the double sided tape should cover the entire frame?. My digitizer works well only a few times, others only works part of the screen.
Please help. Thank you.
after replacement of touch screen, LCD screen filled by a lot of vertical and horizontal strips of differnt color, i checked all cable from motherboard to LCD, all is OK, what it can be?
P.S. before replacement LCD worked fine
is there a way to get the plastic back housing replaced?
Hello @RepairMyDevice
At 8:24 what are you prying off of the digitizer? Must this be done no matter what?
Hi my model is 5158N FPC-1 what part do I need to order? Thanks a lot for your help.
hello can you repair my asus slider sl101? is the same problem and how will cost with the digitalizer..?or tell me please where explain how to do the change of screen?
thanks i will wait the answer..
was the touch screen working before ?
Left out a little piece (magnet double metal square piece, of 1 cm approx) is out of its place. Don't know where it goes now .... Please could you help me in any way? And Screen turns off and on, might have sth not plugged fine.
My screen crqcked but turns on. The touch doesn't respond should I just reolace the glass or the lcd also? The lcd is not damaged just the glass screen. Help out please
at minute 7.03 there was a stop, do you use an heatgun?
I got the digitizer in ebay, but haven been able to get the back light, Do you know where to get it and what would be the price range ?
y compraste el digitalizador original que te vino con la tablet osea el original o esos tipo Hannstouch? porque francamente no encuentro una respuesta definitiva a este tema del reemplazo del digitalizador
No you can post the unit to us for repair if you want
Regards
Disculpa luis que modelo de asus tf tienes? y donde pudiste cambiarla sin problemas
What are those three tools he used to do this?
witch was the version you got ? and what version it was before ? The serial no is printed on the flex
Would this guide be the same for a Asus Transformer pad TF300t?
Hi, could you show me where the hard drive is at? Thanks.
Yes you can replace the back
man i have a question the asus transformer prime T201 is the same process?
En realidad no creo aunque podria ser debido a que no hay el espacio suficiente entre el digitalizador y el touch cosa que provoca que no haya un buen contacto en todas las partes
After I replaced Dock Charging Connector Ribbon Cable, the screen was very hard read. Then check everything again. Now it only does startup vibration. What do I need to check
I disassembled the TF300T in order to change the digitizer.
During removing the back cover 2 identical plastic switches falled.
During the assembly I found out that one of the plastics belong to the main on/off switch, but I couldn't found the place or the use of the other.
It is not the volume switch.
The transformer is not working at all.
Please tell me what you think is the role of this switch and where it should be put.
Thank you in advance for your help/
Please go on our website and contact the US branch
what number of touch panel you to replace the cracked one in this video , 69.10I21.G01 or is with p/n : 69.10I21.G03
would his be the same for the asus TF600T or is it totally different
where can i get a digitizer and display for mine?
The procedure used for the model Tft700t?
Hi, where can this tool get from? how does it works?
have a asus transformer and will replace both versions of tactile 01-03 and none work, I would like to know if you thought that maybe, greetings and thank you very much
After watching this video I was able to successfully change my son's digitizer. I only have two gripes - that there is no verbal instructions and the quality of the video, but that is being nit-picky. I really appreciate the video - watching it gave me the confidence to change my son's tablet.
*One item of note - when putting the digitizer ribbons back in, make sure they are in all the way.* I had to take them out 2 times and re-seat them prior to the touch screen working again. I ended up using a credit card and pushing the ribbons in and that finally pushed them in far enough for the screen to work.
sorry to be so off topic but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
