I was born in LA to Japanese and Korean parents, was raised in Brazil and Argentina due to my dad being in the military. Not once have I faced racism in the States but man I was bullied and suffered discrimination in Brazil and Argentina. Maybe I'll get hate for saying this but based on my personal experience, people from 3rd world countries tend to be more racist perhaps due to its citizens ignorance, even more abused came from blacks and brown people. Just sharing my experiences not trying to make things even more heated.

Yeah you’ve got a point and I can’t argue against your experience, but saying it’s down to being “third world” or ignorant/poor education is just as degrading as Bentancur’s comment and seems to be the overwhelming retort by Koreans online.
South Korea and Japan are “first world” countries but their societies are arguably “less developed” than some third world countries’ due to their specific homogenous and Confucian foundations.
Racism can have many origins
Surely calling a whole culture ignorant is more insulting than saying they look the same.
Also Asian racism towards black/brown people is well documented.

You don’t have to be Asian to have this issue resonate with you - you simply have to be human. Bentancur absolutely needs to formally apologize to our Asian fanbase for his ignorant comment - it should be viewed as unacceptable if he doesn’t. As a female , if one of our players made a misogynistic “joke” about a staff member or player, I would also expect an apology as a female supporter of the club. It doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to see the absolute necessity of that - all you need to be is a decent, empathetic human being

That fact that Bentancur only apologized to Son signals to the Asian community that he doesn't really understand the gravity of what he said. He only tried to amend his personal relationship with Son. Club using Son's response to dust this under the rug is not going to sit well. If Bentancur does not want to take further steps toward reconcilliation with larger Asian community then he probably needs to come up with a phantom injury and stay behind for Japan/Korea preseason tour. He's definitely not going to get a nice welcome.
Idk man if a Korean player said all white people look the same (which seems to be 80% of Korean replies to this incident) I wouldn't expect an apology in the mail.

Thats a really amazing response from Son. Benty was very wrong and im sure knows it... But Son is 100% right the comment was made, the apology given in sincerity and the apology accepted gracefully as ever by Son. It wasnt nice it really was awful, but lets hope Bentacur has learned a lesson from this - that would be the greatest outcome - Racism is wrong whether as a joke made or comment made.
Lolo needs to issue an apology to all Asians and he needs to do it soon as we're heading to Korea soon and we don't want any sort of negativity around our trip there

what do you think is the reason some people get offended so easily? Racism and discrimination have been there for so many centuries. There weren't many victims who could raise their voices about the issues Now especially older generations who used to discriminate against other races are complaining that new generations are crystal weak so they can't even make jokes that they used to do. But, this is not true at all, but truth is the victims in the older generations did not have many ways to express and speak publically, or even if they did, the majority of media did not take it seriously and filtered it out so that most people could not hear and recognise the racisms as much as we can do now. This is the worst legacy of the older racist generations!!!!!

Let’s not be too dramatic here, I’ve said this in Thailand when I’m meeting a date, I say it’s better if you approach me cuz you all have dark hair, dark eyes and beautiful and it’s never been a problem in fact they actually find it amusing. Asian people are very friendly and understandable about things like this it’s the west who like to make things so dramatic.

The way Bentancur has been handling the issue only shows how he thinks of Asian communities. Ignorance. He doesn't even want to talk about it to the community because it's just irritating to him. Here is my controversial opinion that nobody asked for. Bentancur will be sold or loaned after this season. Ange has a long history of supporting Asian players and he doesn’t tolerate this sort of stuff at all. He will definitely brush it off to the press but internally he will be seething. Bentancur had a very underwhelming return from injury under the big Australian last season. Yes, it was well publicized that he wouldn’t be back to his best until this season but now he has an even bigger hill to climb to win over Ange. And more importantly, gain his trust. I see Bentancur as being one of the surprise casualties of the Postecoglou era.
Not surprising at all. We have too many players doing pretty much the same thing in the midfield. Bergvall is coming through as well. Surely one of Bentancur or Bissouma would have to go next summer.
Ange is more pragmatic and no nonsense than that. He’s more likely to give Bentancur a smack over the head and get on with things

The thing is that it is easier for people to distinguish members of their own ethnic profile... it's natural. I know that Asian people say the same about white folks. Was it a poorly calculated comment under the circstances, yes. But was it racist, I think not. There is a huge difference between distinguishing between race, and pointing it out versus using it to degrade and marginalize others. I believe Lolo's comments had no intent of illwill nor superiority, rather were based in lighthearted jest. Anyone who tries to spin it another way, IMHO, is trying to sell you something.
