Bro, you are unrealistically cool! UA-cam should promote your content to millions of views. Your videos really make it possible to work professionally in Ableton. GREAT! GREAT! THANK YOU!!!😍😍😍
Thank you so much for this video. I'm taking a Ableton class and was having trouble with editing MIDI and velocities and got no help and you answered all my questions and more.
Thank you for this quick yet very good expanations on how to use MIDI clips. I am currently trying out Ableton and may consider buying it on Black Friday should there be a sale.
Wow, that copy/transpose thing is really cool. I always just assumed that when a midi note existed, if you copied something onto it, the original was erased.
Very good video! Thank you. How would you change the velocity of a single note within a chord in the piano roll over time so that the single note within that chord has a prescribed (non-random) dynamic velocity that changes over time rather than a single static value? For example, if i have a play a C chord, but I only want the velocity of E note to fluctuate over the length of the chord, how would i do that? Thank you.
Thank you! Unfortunately you can't do this using velocity, the way to do this would be with MPE using either Pressure or Slide, mapped to the volume of the synthesiser. You would just edit the MPE envelope of either the Pressure or Slide, whichever you've mapped, of that particular note. :)
Thank you!!!! But is there a way to change and edit a MIDI note value to different tracks in Ableton? ie, C2 to a MIDI track, C#2 to another MIDI track, and so forth? I want to map a Drum, machine pad to its own exclusive MIDI Channel. Thanks bud!
Hm, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Do you want to be able to send the same MIDI note to two different channels and make those two channels play two different notes? If this is the case then you can use MIDI effects and racks to do this, such as with the Pitch MIDI effect. :)
@@matttinklermusicHey, I figured it out. I have to double click a Kick sample to Load the Sample. And an instance of Simpler will load that sample to the MIDI. My problem was I didnt know how to Load an Audio "device"(but in this case a one shot sample) to a MIDI track.
When working with a MIDI rack of different length kick samples - What's the best way to adjust the length of EVERY SAMPLE simultaneously to a particular note value (eg making your kicks no greater than say an 1/8th note or a 1/16th note)? Sure there's ADSR but a) you can't see what it's doing, and b) you have to do this for each sample in a drum rack! Edit - I put an LFOTOOL at end of my Rack and tuned it with a curve that works for all kicks (to a 1/16th note). I calibrated it against Fades I put on Audio files. I will next do for this for 1/8th note duration cuts. Just wondering - is there a better way or is what I have done here good enough?
Great question! There are lots of ways to do this, but the simplest way is to set the Simpler to 'One-Shot' mode and then switch it from Trigger to Gate, which will mean the sample cuts off at the end of the MIDI note. You could also edit the audio in arrangement view, consolidate it, then import that audio file into the Simpler you're using. That said, it sounds like your workaround also does the trick!
@@matttinklermusic thanks I'll look into that too. Will be interesting to see which method seems to suit this situation best. The curve I used because it is calibrated against true fades I actually would have chosen if working with audio, is a compelling benchmark (it's very hands off but still sounds great). Keen to try your suggestion also as my method was fiddly and time consuming to set up initially (lots of comparing needed to happen to get a one sized fits all curve). I want to do the same for a snare rack and some other per racks so your method could save time there if it fades nicely. The suggestion to work with audio then import into the rack makes sense, but not for this purpose as I want to be able to drag and drop samples into the rack for fast workflow and sometimes (depending on the genre) I would like to have the flexibility of kick samples that last an 1/8th note (depending on the genre). So ideally it needs to be non destructive.

You're welcome! Let me know know if there are any other questions you have and I'll be happy to answer them in a video. :)
9:08: never knew this before. And you are a good teacher. Earned a Sub.
I'm glad I was able to teach you something! Thank yo for watching and subbing. :D
Helpful tutorial, bro🙏
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching. :)
Im so excited to binge all your videos
Ah thank you!! So glad that they are useful for you. :)
thank you, this is another great video!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. :)
Wow I never knew you could use the pencil tool to draw in the velocity, super useful!
It's super useful!! :D
It 's very useful even if I don't speak perfect english , Thanks!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and I'm very glad it was useful for you! :)
Sick🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching! :)

They sometimes do Black Friday sales, so hopefully they do one this year.
Thanks Martlin
Thank you for watching! :)

It is INCREDIBLY useful! I use it all the time since I discovered it.

Excellent video thanks!
(and well done for using an SM58 instead of one of those overpriced SM7B's which are just 58s in a poncy container!)
Thanks!
It's not even an SM58, it's a PG58, just a real cheapie! :)
You should have at least 10x more followers.
Feel free to share with others!!
But for real though this comment means a lot to me. :)

Can you randomize the Chance?
I don't think so, but that's an interested concept! You could effectively randomise chance using MIDI effects though.
I need Elon Musk to hurry up so I can implant a neurolink and borrow your knowledge ;-) Great tips!
😂😂
Thanks for watching, Rayder! :D
