Whenever you think of floating markets selling fresh vegetables and fruit, the Cabiao floating market in Philippines or Damnoen Saduak market of Thailand comes to mind first. In Bangladesh however, not many people know about the floating markets that are in operation in the division of Barishal, one of them is situated in Pirojpur, famous for guavas that are sold during its peak season.
The floating guava market is located on Kirtipasha canal at Swarupkathi under Nesarabad upazilla of Pirojpur, a southern district of Bangladesh. The guavas start coming in from July, with the beginning of guava harvesting and goes on till September. So, the ideal time to visit will be from late July to catch the wholesale guava selling in action.
Hundreds of small boats filled with guavas gather here from July, with farmers from districts of Pirojpur, Barishal and Jhalokhathi harvest the guavas from orchards and bring them to the floating market. You can start your tour by visiting the adjacent guava orchards, many of which is maintained regularly to accommodate the tourists.
But nothing beats the view of the floating market once you reach Bhimruli, the crisscrossed rivers, the boats full of guavas; the opulent greenery on both sides of the canal makes you feel like you have entered into a slice of heaven, even in the most humid time of the year!
The village Bhimruli of Swarupkathi has become a tourist destination over the last few years as travellers have been exploring our country more and finding places that are quite extraordinary. So, if you are looking to experience something unique, go out and get a tour of the Bhimruli floating market!
যখনই আপনি তাজা শাকসবজি এবং ফল বিক্রির ভাসমান বাজারের কথা ভাবেন, তখনই প্রথমে মনে আসে ফিলিপাইনের কাবিয়াও ভাসমান বাজার বা থাইল্যান্ডের ড্যামনোয়ান সাদুয়াক বাজার। বাংলাদেশে অবশ্য, বরিশাল বিভাগে চালু থাকা ভাসমান বাজারের কথা অনেকেই জানেন না, তাদের মধ্যে একটি পিরোজপুরে অবস্থিত, যা পেয়ারার জন্য বিখ্যাত যেটি তার সর্বোচ্চ মৌসুমে বিক্রি হয়।
ভাসমান পেয়ারার বাজারটি বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিণাঞ্চলীয় জেলা পিরোজপুরের নেছারাবাদ উপজেলার অন্তর্গত স্বরূপকাঠির কীর্তিপাশা খালের উপর অবস্থিত। জুলাই মাস থেকে পেয়ারা উঠতে শুরু করে এবং সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত চলে। তাই, পাইকারি পেয়ারা বিক্রির কাজ ধরতে জুলাইয়ের শেষ থেকে পরিদর্শনের আদর্শ সময় হবে।
পিরোজপুর, বরিশাল ও ঝালকাঠি জেলার কৃষকরা জুলাই মাস থেকে পেয়ারা ভর্তি ছোট-বড় শত শত নৌকা এখানে জড়ো হয়। আপনি পার্শ্ববর্তী পেয়ারা বাগান পরিদর্শন করে আপনার সফর শুরু করতে পারেন, যার মধ্যে অনেকগুলি পর্যটকদের থাকার জন্য নিয়মিত রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ করা হয়।
কিন্তু ভীমরুলীতে পৌঁছলে ভাসমান বাজারের দৃশ্য আর কিছুই দেখা যায় না, পার হয়ে যাওয়া নদী, পেয়ারা ভর্তি নৌকা; খালের দুই ধারের ঐশ্বর্যময় সবুজ আপনাকে মনে করে যে আপনি স্বর্গের এক টুকরোতে প্রবেশ করেছেন, এমনকি বছরের সবচেয়ে আর্দ্র সময়েও!
স্বরূপকাঠির ভিমরুলি গ্রামটি গত কয়েক বছর ধরে একটি পর্যটন কেন্দ্রে পরিণত হয়েছে কারণ ভ্রমণকারীরা আমাদের দেশে আরও বেশি করে ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছে এবং বেশ অসাধারণ জায়গাগুলি খুঁজে পাচ্ছে। তাই, আপনি যদি অনন্য কিছু অনুভব করতে চান, তাহলে বেরিয়ে পড়ুন এবং ভিমরুলি ভাসমান বাজারে ঘুরে আসুন!
