For you Americans watching this, albeit with some confusion, let me inform you that cricket has a HUGH worldwide following. As I type this, India is in the process of handing Australia it's a$$ on a plate in test cricket in Perth, Australia. You can go look up the populations of these cricket mad nations. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, the West Indies, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand. You start to get the idea. Even in the United States, there is a growing following, (and local level playing), of cricket amongst the emigrant diaspora of these nations now living (legally), in America. I'm a Canadian who has lived also in America, (go the Toronto Blue Jays). But since living in the U.K., and now Australia, I've learned what cricket is, how it's played, and the strategies and skills required. And honestly, I love the sport. Especially sitting in the shade of the giant Moreton Bay Fig trees at the northern end of the Adelaide Oval cricket ground in South Australia, on a sunny summer's day, cold beer in hand, watching the day's play with my adult sons.

You've got lots of comments about the "West Indies". The West Indies team is made of players from a group of Carribean countries, including Jamaica, which were too small in population and money to have their own international cricket team. The West Indies team has been a powerhouse in international cricket for over 60 years. Many African countries play international cricket. India the best at cricket? Maybe this week, lol Australia has 6 men’s world cups. Next best is India and West Indies, both with 2 each. Last year Australia won the world cup (IN India and vs India in the final), only a few months after winning the world test championship (also vs India lol). Australia is by far the most successful cricket nation.
The cricket ball is much harder, heavier and slightly smaller than a baseball. No gloves except for the wicket keeper. The pitch (between the bowling and the batsman) is slightly further than the pitches mound and catcher.
There are a lot of different "greatest catches in cricket history" with a lot of different catches. They tend to be favourites of some people rather than greatest catches, as there aren't any from older generations with insane fielders like Jonty Rhodes and Ricky Ponting, and there are countless ridiculous catches in the slips positions next to the wicket keeper. Honestly, some of the catches in this video shouldn't make it into a top 200 let alone a top 20.

@@DavidCalvert-mh9sy Yea you are definitely right man, I’m open to learning new things and knowing new people man. This sport isn’t too far off from baseball.

A cricket ball is hard as hell much harder than a baseball & some of these fast bowler's can bowl them in excess of 90 mile's plus an hour with the record being 100 mile's an hour.

An Australian player,Phillip Hughes was killed when hit back in 2014.
Ntm no glove for the fielders apart from the wicket keeper who is like the equivalent too a catcher in baseball but is totally unprotected otherwise.

But it has levels. They have only some teams that are known as "Test" nations, but they are changing that all the time. For example Sri Lanka became a Test nation in the 1990s and then Bangladesh is now a test nation. I'm not sure about Afghanistan. I think Zimbabwe were but I don't know if they still are. But I am guessing.
Anyway my guess is that the test nations are currently :
Australia
India
England
New Zealand
Pakistan
Sri Lanka
Bangladesh
South Africa
West Indies (*not a country)
Zimbabwe??
But other countries are getting good at cricket.
The Netherlands
USA
Plus existing cricket countries like Afghanistan and Kenya.
Even some European countries are starting to play cricket like Spain and Germany.
Oh yeah I forgot, Ireland 🇮🇪 and Scotland 🏴 each has a cricket team, but I don't think that they are Test nations yet.

It's not good if you miss the catch and take the ball to the gut, had that happen to me a few times 😅 Suffice to say, the area around the impact point was a mess, a mixture of red and purple... one hit turned out to have caused minor internal bleeding! Oh such fun days 😂😂
Speaking of injuries, check out a couple of cricket injury vids, and don't worry about all the blood, they were fine afterwards... most of them anyway 😉
Yea, one of those to the gut will do damage😂😂
Just to correct you. Australia hold both the Test Championship and ODI championship. India only hold T20

Very first cricket match was played between canada and usa in early 18 century u may be surprised but later usa and canada carried on base ball as major game
I get why cricket isn’t so big over here, since baseball is very popular, but people need to open their minds to new things.
USA vs Canada Cricket match played for the first time in 1844. Before Civil War in USA probably 1862 Cricket was the most popular game in USA and Canada. After Civil War Baseball took the place.
weird fact (one you may find a video on), 1st official team from Australia to tour England, was an Aboriginal team
oh and don't worry, they often are so fast the camera misses them, 1 of reasons they have so many set to get dif angles
Wow! That’s crazy!
@@VivitStudios weirdest of all, it was when Aboriginal people were being "stolen" and had no rights and yet they created a team and sent them to UK, knowing what I know now, I reckon it was more a show of "whitening" of them back in England, but history books would never mention something like that (good ole white history)
The ball is heavier, smaller and harder than a baseball, and only the keeper gets gloves.
Imagine getting hit by one of those!😂
@@VivitStudios
Most wicket keepers play with swollen and even brocken fingers.....they need the gloves but the gloves don't help much when the ball hits the wrong part.....OUCH !!!!
When Jeff Thompson was picked to bowl with Dennis Lillee, Australia had a problem with who to pick as the wicket keeper.......2 fast bowlers were going to be a problem for anyone.
Rod Marsh got the job, and had a long career as our keeper......but after only a few games his fingers were mangled and his hands ACHED almost permanently.....when a 90 to 100+ mph rock is constantly slamming into your gloved hands, no gloves are good enough.....they have to be flexible enough to grab the ball, but baseball catching mits are banned.....the webbing in the catchers mitt does the catching and that is " JUST NOT CRICKET "....lol
@@VivitStudios RIP Phillip Hughes 😥
Cricket is fantastic..you should react to Glenn Maxwell hitting 200 runs for Australia against Afghanistan in the World Cup that Australia ended up winning
The tournament was in India and was HUGE, India were favourites to win but they didn’t realise the mite of Australia.
With the Australia verses Afghanistan, Glenn Maxwell gets a severe case of cramps so for most of his innings he is only trying to hit 4’s and 6’s so he doesn’t have to run. The whole thing is not only funny to watch but very inspiring
Glenn Maxwell was the guy that took catch number 19, not only is Glenn a good batsman but he is an elite fielder
Oh my !! U got to react to Walsh and sir curtly Ambrose... He bowls a stock delivery known as 'perfume' ball !!! As the ball whizzes past your nose, u can smell the leather on the ball.. thats why its named perfume ball 😂

So after that you can see what special plays are. And then you should have a better appreciation for the great plays and the greatest players. 👍
Black men are really REALLY GOOD at cricket 🏏 😅
You've got lots of comments about the "West Indies". The West Indies team is made of players from a group of Carribean countries, including Jamaica, which were too small in population and money to have their own international cricket team. The West Indies team has been a powerhouse in international cricket for over 60 years. Many African countries play international cricket. But the Huge powerhouse is south-central Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) where cricket is so popular it is almost a religion for many millions of people.
What kind of rock do you have to live under not to know that the rest of the world plays cricket Blackmen , Brown women White beige and yellow all colours all people from every continent apart from Antarctica and it surprises only Americans who can’t understand that only they have a World Series that only they play.

Australia has 6 men’s world cups. Next best is India and West Indies, both with 2 each.
Last year Australia won the world cup (IN India and vs India in the final), only a few months after winning the world test championship (also vs India lol).

The cricket ball is much harder, heavier and slightly smaller than a baseball.
No gloves except for the wicket keeper.

#1 was bowled by the guy who caught the ball. Do you know how difficult it is to bowl a ball and stop in your stride, throw yourself sideways and bend to scoop up the ball one handed in less than half a second? That was most definitely a harder catch than number 11 who had around 4 or 5 times longer to sight the ball, run to where it was headed and, admittedly, stretch to the limit to catch it. Great catch, but not close to #1.
Nope. Can't be "greatest ever" catches without featuring any by Mark Waugh or Ricky Ponting, two of the greatest fielders ever.
