Mr. Crumb is the Greatest Living American Artist at present March 3rd, 2024. I grew up inspired by his illustrations and cartoons. His satire is Brilliant. I wish I could shake his hand and thank him for getting me through my early adult years.

I grew up with Robert Crumb Comix. The friends I surrounded myself with were mostly alternative thinkers and not a mob of sheep. Our Yr 12 English teacher put Catch 22 on our reading list. Suddenly, he told us there were no copies available and we had to use a different text for our studies. I went into a city book shop and bought one of many available copies. Clearly, the school admin told him NOT to use the novel for our yr 12 English studies. I and my friends went on to become successful Art Teachers. That world of creativity and exploration is being killed off by government control.

IMO, Crumb is up there with the greats. Durer, Goya, Dore, Nast etc... as an illustrator. His sketchbooks and the art and beauty series are spectacular works of art. I always look to them for inspiration and a laugh. Thanks for all the great work Robert.

That's funny, I'd assumed Crumb was talking from his house but then at the end "Aline just said it's time to go home!"
Hadn't seen or heard about Crumb too much in the last few years and I was thinking "I hope it's not because he's gone downhill too much!" so it's great to see he's still alive and kickin' and plays a mean baritone ukulele!!

As is obvious from seeing Crumb's work, he has never seemed the type to jump on any bandwagon or take a hardline stance on any subject. The constant for him seems to be skepticism and general mistrust regarding any rules made from narratives. He seems to have learned that freedom and asking questions are always the same thing.

I enjoyed this interview very much as an admirer of Crumb's artwork and artist myself. I'll be direct and terse -the entire 'cervesa bug' was completely contrived and created absolutely. I hope people will take the time to discover the truth and won't let it happen again.

    R. Crumb. A maestro in illustration, human insight and life's absurdities. I have a ton of Zap comics that shaped me in my formative years. I know I'm better for it as I drift off into the 70s.

has there ever been a video with Robert that just focuses on his record collection - i.e., the history of where he's found various records, what he listens to most often, his photo collection of musiciians, how he's documented his collection and whether he's thought about donating his collection to a museum, etc. I had an old friend in the Midwest US who passed away. He had an incredible collection of records. No one seems to know what happened to all of them, which really saddens me. It took him a lifetime to collect all of them! I am really hoping that
he passed them along to someone, but his death was rather unexpected and I doubt he planned for them. I believe collecting them is an important thing to do to document history and
the artists who did the records!

Lord I wish I could speak to this man before he dies. I love him so much. (In a platonic way of course.. lol)
Such a treat to hear him speak honestly about Covid. I have the utmost respect for people who say "I don't know". It shows a willingness to learn. It also is a sign of being mentally stable and not being delusional.
I have spoken with so many people who speak about Covid and (even though they don't know anything/haven't researched anything) they are so cock sure about all their opinions. This is a worse virus, being sure of yourself when you actually don't know anything. We are all still learning everyday.

I am intrigued by Aleksandar Zograf and would like to know if his work is available in North America. Also, as I sadly lack the language of my slavic heritage, would prefer translations into English. One of my sons is an infectious diseases doc and long-time graphic novel fan. It would be a great legacy to leave him a pile of Zograf's work.
