User error on first try. Didn't align the joint with the metal heating element. You were only covering the red filament, and the yellow filament wasn't even touching the heating element. @1:13
Aw man, that sucks. I was thinking about having a drawing if I can get enough likes and subs over the next couple months and giving it away to the winner. Lets see how things go. Thanks for the update!
I bought mine before I bought my Bambu P1S. Thought the same thing, why do I need this now? I end up with a bunch of partial spools, and I would rather just have the spools combines to avoid having to throw multiple spools of the same color into my AMS. First world problems, but I'll use it.
Think about it. How can you join another spool if filament to one that is being used. You can't without unspooling the filament being use to get to the end of it ! Clearly that is not its use. The situation you will get is that the remnants of filament on a spool after a print, which may not be enough to start another print, can be joined to a new spool of the same colour so as to not waste it. You can also joint multiple remnants of different colours if you wish, so as to not waste it.
What I was thinking as a use case was when the spool on my K2 Max gets close to the filament sensor I could pause the print and join the next spool to continue printing. Obviously with a filament sensor there is no need. I was just trying to think of use cases, which on most printers in 2024 you don't need this tool. In 2020 when I started printing I could see the use....

If you have a large printer, then you could combine 2 rolls into one and not have to pause a large print ...
Good idea and great use case!
