I am binge watching you this weekend. I love all of your posts, they are so simple to understand (especially for the newbies). I would love to take lessons from you to sharpen my skills. Thank you for doing these, it makes my day brighter!!
I've tried this and they turned out really nice. Those plunger cutters are a Godsend. I have regular daisy cutters and the paste always got stuck and tore. I like being able to get the paste loose with the plunger. Please have more tutorials for flowers.
@novelynette Not so much. First, make sure your original gum paste is really thin, and give a nice firm push on the embossing button. When I pull with the tool, I kind of start right where that embossing is to make sure I don't "rub" it out. It's kind of my guide line. :) Even if some gets rubbed out, there is so much detail in the frill of the ends of the petals, that whatever is left still gives a lovely appearance.
@crazy4crafts It is not food safe. A couple of things can go wrong- they can rust from the moisture, even if it is the smallest piece that is exposed through tape or coating. That would be poisonous. Also, a tip can break off. You don't want to be the person that has a guest swallow a small piece of wire. Beyond the hazards, it can stain your cake, or tear through it from the weight of the gumpaste. Many ways to get around it. Straws filed with royal icing or white chocolate works well also. :)
@libertyordeathbaby Thank you! We kind of try to find a balance between teaching techniques and offering useful information, so that we can earn your loyalty for the place you shop when you're ready for a new tool! Thanks for watching!
@paperlace24 I do use mine a lot. I have someone locally that trained one of her staff completely from my videos; never had to send her in for a class! This Gerbera was one of her specialties!!!

is that regular gum paste/flower paste/petal paste? and is that a specific type of sponge (its not an 'elbow pad' i can tell that much ^^) or is it just household/dish sponge? please let me know, ive never seen this technique an i absolutely love it!! fabulous!!
Hi! Thanks for your tutorials, but I have, maybe you already know, 1 small tip. To avoid the little strands of gumpaste that stick to the peddels of the flower, I always make the cut out, and turn the cutter up side down. Then, with the ball of my hand, I smooth out the lines of the cutter (just 2 times) and turn it back on my flowerpad and make the press for the finishing touch, and then you don't have the little gumpaste strands ;-) Greetings from the Netherlands, Tamara
Gum paste is "tighter". You can roll it thinner for more realism, it has more elasticity, so you can stretch it more without it breaking (rolling thinner and draping), and it dries harder. Gum paste is a "cousin" to fondant.
Thank you so very much! I have these cutters but my largest size is your smallest size! Please, where did you get your large one? ~Jules in Rhode Island

If you put it on a wire, I wouldn't- that's just scary. If it is an unwired flower, yes, you can eat it. It won't taste GREAT, but you can eat it. Kind of the texture of a stale piece of chewing gum. Mostly for looks!
This is the best Gerber Daisie I've seen yet , very very nice ty for sharing
Oh my goodness, I love your videos, I have purchased the matt and LOVE IT. I can't wait to take your classes.

Tamara Cleef Thank you! I hate those little strands! Jules
Can you tell me the colors and brands you used on this flower? Especially interested in the pink color. Really like this tutorial! Thank you!
Absolutely.
Just search plunger cutter in the Sweetwise online store.

im new to all this, question...are gum paste and fondant the same or is gum paste something else all together?
Thank you so very much! I have these cutters but my largest size is your smallest size! Please, where did you get your large one? ~Jules in Rhode Island
