Sorry for the soft focus in some areas of this review. This was the first review I shot on my new camera so I was still messing around with the auto-focus settings.
Love my pair of Sundara's, love the sparkly high frequencies and its bass slams are simply amazing!!! LCD-1 I tried a friend's unit for a week, it sounds good but no match for the Sundara's in my opinion.
Interesting to hear your take on the Sundara vs 6XX. Everyone seems to rank the Sundara above 6XX under all circumstances, for everyone, even factoring in the price difference. I have the 6XX and really enjoy it as an all-arounder, but the Sundara really has me curious to whether it'd be worth the price increase.
brian l. Sundara is not a upgrade for 6xx, its more of a side grade and is a different beast. If you want a real upgrade to imaging and detail (tho not in the timbre, as the HD6x0 series excels there) you will want to go higher in the price ranges like the Elex.
If you want a real upgrade: hifiman he-6. All the other stuff except hd800 maybe is not worth it. he-6 is a resolution/dynamics/bass king for sure, espacially for the price.
@@davidmason8212 well I said like the elex (not specifically only elex) which is 700$, Anada is if you want a more relaxed and wide sound sig (but worse dynamics and maybe detail retrieval thab elex)
People are glossing over the efficiency and portability of the LCD-1. I don't think it's entirely fair of reviewers to put them in the same price class as cans that require an amp investment to sound good. From a budget audiophile perspective these are an excellent and highly unique option, and you can listen to them anywhere that's quiet....any room of your house. They sound better than any headphone I've tried under the price so they represent their investment well.
I remember when the LCD-1 came out and they paid a bunch of reviewers to hype it. Here we are a year later and the LCD-1 seems like a forgotten dinosaur from the past. LOL, joke company joke headphone.
I agree about Audeze I got a pair of Audeze Mobius for gaming/music after less than 2 years they fell apart. I found they have a very weak point near the ear cups
Oh man i love the detail on the sundaras, you hear evrything XD And when im just listening to tunes while im gaming i nudge up the bass on the EQ between 20/50hz just alittle teeny bit and it brings the thump that you feel run through you.
the LCD-1's frequency response would seriously give me hives after long enough with it. I mean, it's really not flat at all, not sure how your supposed to put up with such dramatic recesses in the highs. and yet Metal 751 says claims it doesn't need EQing? you good?
Sundara needs more power than HD650 for sure , and they need WAAY more power to sound correct . U need something like Fiio K5 pro to get them have body on sound.
Sundara everyday .for fun Hd600 everyday for vocals . I got both the hd600 and sundara. And while the hd600 has the most pleasing sound and tonal balance. The sundara are more fun . The sundara is faster. And snapy. More than the hd 600. Although when I want vocals and relax the hd 600 is a no Brainer What is good about them ,is alternating between the two . It always feels refreshing to listen to the sundara after a good while with the hd600.
Good review, now I know not to buy an lcd-1. I hoped it could replace my hd580. And the whole hifiman stuff except he-6/500 is bullshit IMO, sidegrades at best
@@davidmason8212 yes pretty significantly, because I am "allergic" to muddier/slower bass response, for example the unmodded hd6xx/650 or Hifiman HE-500. I cant stand it. Also the HD500 has some very little grain in the mids, which you only notice in direct comparisons to the he-6, also the he-500 is a bit heavier in weight.
Anyone buying Sundara should know that you will be spending way more money than just the base headphone price which is normally about 350 dollars. You will definitely replace the pads in few months because they will simply fall off from the headphone... So expect to spend 40 to 70 dollars on better 3rd party earpads... Also Hifiman stock cable often breaks over time so expect to replace it with 3rd party cable 20-30 dollars more. With LCD-1 you're getting good real leather pads and good quality stock cable... Having owned Hifiman headphones in the past, I'd always go LCD-1 between these 2 options.
@@Muscarial I've ment it with slight sarcasm, as 350 EUR is hardly considerable as a budget headphone by any stretch... The Hifiman HE400SE or the 400i 2020 however are budget planars... and just slightly below the Sundara... The LCD1 is 411 EUR and that's even less of a budget option in my book...
Sundara pads are mounted incorrectly. The seam should be at the bottom, near the connectors.

Can you explain more the differences between them?

Hi Max,
Nice comparison. What is your thought on these comparing to the Monolith M1070? They usually go sale and fall into the same price bracket.
Better to compare the LCD-1 with a similar priced IEM, Pandas, and Sundara.
ER4XR beat all of these for me except for bass and soundstage (I guess) with the foam tips. Amazing clarity.
IEM comparisons versus headphones would be interesting. Probably won't be one to one though.
Great comparison! For 350 what do you prefer the b2:dusk or sundara? Which has better tone/detail etc? Thanks!
Hi! Have you decided on the two? I have the same concern.
Hifiman Sundara or audeze mobius in terms of sound quality? how much is the differnece in %
Sundara vs Sendy Aiva, what is the main difference in sound characteristics??
is there a way to tell physically the new version of the sundara? identifying marks maybe?
