If you don't win -- substantial changes need to be made in the offseason. Too many teams don't want to "rebuild" because they're close to winning it all. Turns out San Fran wasn't that close. This was their rebuild year and they didn't skip a beat. If you plan correctly (and have a generational QB) you can rebuild the roster and still be competitive. Drafting injured players, I thought they would've learned after drafting an injured Michael Crabtree, they didn't, they drafted Ricky Perasall. Trent Williams, though initially a great FA pickup, has actually caused the team to not address the offensive line. The defensive free agents have become expensive semi-busts, and free agents cause the team to get older and more expensive instantly. They need to shoot for a younger, less expensive core.
