I'm planning on trying out Troyes for the first time in the near future (my local library has it and I'm checking it out), so maybe it'll be on a similar video in the future. Looks like the kind of game I'd like. Also, Grand Austria Hotel has been on my "want to play" list for waaaaaay too long.
You should look at Dice Forge. It's similar to Space Base and Machi Koro in that you get stuff on every playerss turn, but you actually upgrade the faces of the dice. It's a lot of fun. Also, Roll for the Galaxy is an excellent dice game.
Thanks for the suggestions and checking out the video. Dice Forge has been on my want to try list for a bit. Sounds super fun and I'm pretty sure my regular group would love it. I should give Roll for the Galaxy a shot too. I didn't like Race for the Galaxy that much, so I think it turned me off a little for Roll. But I'm guessing it's different enough that I might like it.
Totally agree with Machi Koro and Camel Up. A few on your list I haven't played yet but want to. Does King of Tokyo and Champions of Midgard fall into your monster smash game that aren't really that good? If so, I can forgive you since you have so many other great games on the list :)
Haha, thanks for the forgiveness. I think King of Tokyo is pretty good and a game I enjoy. I actually just played it a couple of weeks ago and you know, it's a game that if the group is super into it I can love it too. Feed off their energy. I'm thankful that it's fast and in your face. I've never played Champions of Midgard, maybe it'd be the one to change my mind, lol
