Videos labelled as such. Where we're both playing rhythm guitars, I'm panned left and he's panned right.
Guitars through the Axe II as usual, along with the vocals; cleans (and my range) still need work...
Aside from sforzando for orchestration + bass sampling, all FX/automation was done using Reaper's built-in plugins. Track count was 333 in the end, not including guitar scratch tracks... that was more due to organisation than take count, though.
Solo was played on my RR24, though Jacopo played his harmony part on his SG (along with the clean section). All other parts were recorded using my SL3MG.

3:25 onwards is the best part of any song ever made.
Lemme tell ya man, I've heard plenty of covers if this track, and being my favorite solo among all the Ensiferum's songs, even when I find a good one, I'm always not satisfied. But this cover...the best I've heard so far. Really well made dude, from the technique to the tune, almost perfect! :')

Haha well the solo has always been surprisingly tough for how it sounds, but I'm much more unsatisfied with the rhythm guitars and the vocals - the left and right rhythm guitars are out of sync with each other *a lot* (every single cover since this one I've quad-tracked rhythm guitars and made sure they're perfect haha)... and my singing really wasn't very good at all when I recorded this... while I'm still no Mäenpää I think I've come a long way since :D
REGR1T If with singing you mean the chorus I can agree but, I mean you're not making an LP so it's definitely good enough, the growl actually is more pleasant than the original (because I don't like jari's growl too much, it's a bit too black metal for me, I prefer petri's one) because it's a bit lower
Each to his own - I prefer Jari's ;) I've found that my voice is capable of both scream types, but yeah it's most comfort somewhere in the middle. Agreed there's no album at the moment but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't preparing for one ;)

Quick question: What is the name of the technique used for the sound on the last note at 0:53 ? Been trying to search for it for some time now haha
That's called a Pinch Harmonic. Basically you touch the string with the side of your picking thumb, right after playing the note (at the same time, really). If you touch the string in the right place, you get that note/high resonance. Touching at different distances from the bridge gives different pitches!

@@jagd924 Whoops! Those tabs I uploaded are all very old, and wrong in many places, I think... Winter Madness and Battle Against Time are particularly bad...

I've only recently started filming my vocal recordings - back when I recorded this I did a fair bit of comping, so the audio and video wouldn't have been synced a lot of the time!
