I took care of my dad after a brain injury & he had a feeding tube. A nurse gave me a trick that really worked to keep the area around his stoma from getting irritated. I used a good barrier cream which was the clear kind of A+D ointment. It's a light tan color, not the white kind. Then a few drops of castor oil on top of the ointment. He never had issues after I started doing this. It really worked! I will send you some of each!! Thinking of you Kayla& love you!!
This sounds like u should give it a try Kayla. Or try a zinc paste, and maybe some gauze between your skin and bumper. If all else fails, ask for s referral to a wound clinic. It looks very uncomfortable….😢
Just adding to the above. LPN here, with the last 8 years in long-term care. I recommend Z-gaurd by Medline or Triad paste or a generic version (barrier cream with zinc) for around the g-tube site daily, as well as washing the area with soap and water daily to remove old cream, pat dry, then a thin layer of cream. Cover with a split gauze(under the bumper), gauze around the tube site has to be non-woven so it doesn't unravel and leave bits of lint and whatnot around the tube. Why they even make woven split gauze is beyond me.
So sorry you're going through such a rough time. Here is what I would do: Cellulitis will spread outward and get extremely red as it spreads. Have Big Daddy mark the edge of the redness right away with a pen or something that won't rub off. Check it tomorrow and if the redness is spreading, its most definitely cellulitis and you need an antibiotic. Above all things, I would call your doctor and let them know you're still suffering. They could recommend something better than any of us. Definitely mark the red edge though because if its moving or not, you could let the doctor's office know and help them to decide what direction to go. Don't sit on it until January for sure!!
Call your own Dr on Monday. It looks like cellulitis to me. He can at least order a course of antibiotics to see if the skin gets better. If not, he can check that box off along with the new g tube box.
I'm a passers-by visiting your channel I watched your video yesterday on having a hard day and want to say thank you for that post. Everything you said was what i felt I have multiple autoimmune diseases with chronic pain and I get it Kayla 😢
My son turn 41 December 5, I did the same, I still try to because he lives me. He's been my heaven send when I've needed care giving for the late ten year. I don't need care all the time , 90 percent I very independent. We live together because it is a financial necessity.
just a random thought... One time when I was young (and stupid), I got severely sunburned. I had 2nd degree burns. The doc prescribed me something that had silver in it and it felt so good on my raw open sores that had blistered and busted open. I wonder if that same thing could be used for your stoma. Since the stomach acid is burning the skin, maybe something that treats burns will actually give some relief and promote healing.
Kathy Bates is a wonderful actress! Kayla, I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. The trials of a chronic illness never ends it seems. I have ms so I know all too well how sometimes getting through each day seems nearly impossible. You're always in my prayers sweet lady.🙏❤️🙏
Omgosh Kayla, that looks really angry. 😔 I sure hope it calms down really soon. I’m glad that colouring helps to relax you a bit. Praying for you sweet lady. 🙏🏼💕
Hey Miss Kayla! Sweetie, I feel so bad for you. I am disabled too. I have chronic kidney issues, type 2 diabetes, copd, and possibly CHF. I was just in the hospital for 3 weeks while they took 85 pounds of water off of me. I was discharged Friday a week ago, but when I got home, I couldn't stand to get into my chair, and I fell straight down, crushing my right ankle. It's broken on either side of my ankle, and I have a hairline fracture of the right fibula at the top of my knee. So, I had to come right back to the hospital. I got my same room and bed I had just left lol. I have a weight restriction of no weight on my foot for 8 to 10 weeks. I have 1 week in the books, so to speak. After next Friday, I'm supposed to be getting a cast for 8 weeks. I have a splint on now. If I had a magic wand, we'd both be well and pain-free. How wonderful that would be. Anyway, I keep praying for you, so please pray for me. Love and huggggs! ❤❤
I’m so sorry! Get your home health nurse to get you some wound gel and cover with a hydrocolloid dressing. You have a lot of erythema(redness or inflammation surrounding your stoma. Zinc ointment to the outer edges will protect and decrease that redness.
Bless your heart..!! I can’t imagine how painful that is..!!Believe me you are a very brave and strong woman…!! Most any of us wouldn’t be able to take that pain..!! I’m so sorry and I will pray for you to get some relief..!!
Happy Birthday to Elijah! My son and I have birthdays 1 day apart just a few days after Christmas! I am praying for you. Thank you for these videos and just being you! Love from Southern California ❤
Ouch! Only advice is to CALL your doctor Monday morning and get in that office. Don’t wait until January with so much pain. Love watching you color and I started coloring after watching you. Hugs and prayers to you!
Your stoma looks like plastic rubbing against raw flesh!! no one can live with that I hope they gave you something to quickly heal it😢 I will pray extra that the doctors will quickly take care of it.❤ I love watching you color😃 thank you for taking the time and in painful effort to let us know how you’re doing today🎉
I always enjoy spending time with you Kayla. Your feeding tube wound site is nasty. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this awful pain dear friend. Love, Hugs and Prayers.
Love to you and prayers for healing and strength. You bring me joy and prove to me that I am not alone. I am very sick with sinus today. It is devastating and worse that my migraines.
I've had a feeding tube for 20 years. Mine gets angry like that every time I change the tube as it leaks for awhile. I use 20 percent zinc oxide cream covered with a 2x2 gauze. As it heals I put barrier cream on the skin that isn't raw and this keeps it from breaking down again. Barrier cream can't be used on broken skin...it burns. Hope this helps.
It is so relaxing watching you color. Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Hope you get to feeling better so that you can begin to crochet again, because I know you enjoy it so much.
Have you tried putting Maalox on your stomach and letting it dry before putting the dressings on Kayla? That is how we treated stomach irritation when I was a nurse. It neutralizes the stomach acid. I hope that works for you. ❤😊 You're coloring is Beautiful!!! What type of pencils are you using? 🤔
Call that doctor and let them know you are not improving at all and need some relief ASAP. Also call the doctor/clinic for the infusion and let them know the problem you are having with your port and you need guidance on what to do next. Praying for you.
Oh ouch!! That’s so painful Kayla I feel bad for you! Maybe you might have a bad infection! I would call your Dr tomorrow first morning if not then can you go to urgent care instead of emergency? Poor Kayla!! I’m keeps praying for you! ❤🙏🏼 I’m so sorry that you still have so much painful 😢
I just wanna say how much I care about you. I love watching your videos. I love your voice. I wish there was some way that I could help you as much as you’re helping me. You’re so motivating. I just want you to know how much I care about you and hope that you have a great Christmas with your family and a happy new year too.
Hi Kayla, greetings from Michigan. With your feeding tube, an ounce of prevention might be worth a pound of cure, especially with infections, possible cellulitis and/or sepsis. Monday morning for sure. Love your coloring, my hands shake too much for coloring to be enjoyable, but I might try again. Looks relaxing. Take care.
I am so sorry for what you go through 😢. You are a remarkable person, so inspiring. Your coloring is so much fun to watch. I bought the pencils based on watching you use them. I also like gen pens. 😘
Stop tolerating the pain and contact your doctor today to look at your stoma. That needs treatment.and they should be ordering a healing cream as well as a protective barrier cream. Hugs, Kayla. You are such an amazing person.
Ouch! I am praying for you. I hope the doctors can give you something to stop that. I'm still crocheting on my kitty. I'm being really slow with my crochet, right now. Yesterday was a nightmare day, with a backed up drain. We had to call a plumber. Thankfully there was one that would come out on a Saturday.
Hi kayla, so sorry to hear youre not doing well, for people that dont know, those wounds hurt a LOT, its like raw meat and that burns, i wasn't well myself last time, but we Rock it, pain everyday, you never get used to it, much love to you and big daddy❤❤❤❤
Wow, that looks so painful. I like the idea of marking the edge that a lady suggested. Today's my birthday. Growing up we always put up the tree on my birthday. My kids came over today & put the snowblower on my lawn tractor. I guess that's another way to celebrate!! Hope your stoma gets better soon.
Beautiful colouring in! OUCH! That sure looks sore, Kayla! Just hearing you wince made me feel for you! I had an echo today & the graph didn't look good as it was doing extra blips!! I guess I'll find out soon what's happening. Praying for you girl! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
My birthday is 12/12 and we always waited till my birthday to decorate for xmas. Now i have 2 grandkids with dec birthdays, i make sure they don't get gypped! ❤
So sorry you are having so much pain. It does look bad. You are more patient than I would be. I would be calling my doctor. It very well could be cellulitis. Please don’t wait till January. We all care about you and don’t want you to have more problems and pain than you already deal with. Glad the coloring helps you relax. My hubby bought me two new coloring books at Ollie’s today. I did some this afternoon. Will try to knit a little on my shawl. Please take care of yourself. Prayers continue. ❤old lady s
Love you ❤️. I never feel you are whinning. Friends want to know how each other are doing. I think you need an antibiotic. Hugs! That story about the Happy Birthday, sign, is so precious!!! ❤ 😇🙏💚
I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. That looks so painful! Do they have patient care coordinators to help you since you have so many different doctors and chronic illnesses?
Why don't they have you going to wound care, I know that they have diabetics go to wound care. Just a thought, maybe you've already been there done that . Have you tried ice pack on that area.
I am sending prayers 🙏 ❤, that looks & feels painful. What if you took a picture and send a email to the dr. So he or she can see what is going on. Such a pretty coloring book.
Oh Kayla, 😓 💔 Please call the doctor to get back in ASAP! Tell the doctors office that they did not do what the doctor said and you can't even move an inch without excruciating pain. I don't understand why people don't follow what the doctor says to do. I agree with the lady that said to mark the outer area of the redness and see if it continues to grow out. Calling the doctor to get back in ASAP is NOT complaining, it is urgent!!! Wishing you a restful, less painful day🙏🏻 God's blessings to you always 🙏🏻 💝💛🌻🌼🦋
I lost my husband 8 months ago after he battled cancer. He had a feeding tube in twice and I learned to take care of it. My prayers are with you.❤️🙏🙏❤️
Hello Kayla sweetee, I’ve prayed for you throughout the day today. Praying your day is better than yesterday. Sorry your day is still so hard!! You sound in better spirits than yesterday. I know that must be very hard, but feel free to vent, we want to be there for you! I was wondering how long you have had Lupus? Were you healthy when your kids were young? My mom had lupus, congested heart failure and was a diabetic. I have Rheumatoid arthritis (also autoimmune disease), I’m a diabetic and have many spinal issues. But with all I’ve been through nothing compares to what you’re going through. I’m so glad Big Daddy is there for you. My husband left me for a younger healthier woman..a lot of men just won’t stick around! I was in my late 20’s when I started having bad symptoms. My sons were 8 & 10. (In their 40’s now). They originally said I had Lupus, but later they said RA. Anyways, enough about me!! Just wanted to let you know I understand in some ways. But you are so much stronger and such an inspiration to so many people!! ❤ 🙏 😊
Could you go to the hospital in the same town as your Dr? It would be the hospital he is affiliated with just a thought. I would be worried about sepsis
Kayla, why don’t you send a message via the portal to your doctors about there pain you are in with your stoma, and that the new tube did not help at all? Please do that. If it’s cellulitis, that of serious and needs to be treated with antibiotics. 🙏🙏
Oh Kayla!!!! That looks so painful. You should go to your regular family doctor tomorrow. You really need something to take care of that. You poor thing. You need to have that healed ASAP. Christmas is right around the corner and I really hope you're feeling better soon. Love you and sending you hugs!!!!
I'm sure you already tried a triple antibiotic sab on the gtube site? I know it takes the sting/ burn out of a cat's bite or nail going in your skin ❤❤❤
Ms. Kayla, I,m so sorry you are in so much pain. Your tube definitely looks infected to me. Like others said I’d called your doctor to see if you can get some antibiotics. Sending you strength!
Oh Kayla. I'm so sorry. That looks so bad. I can't imagine how painful that is. Seems with all the medical advancements, they could do something for that so you would be more comfortable and without all that pain.
Do they have you on antibiotics for the Cellulites at the stoma site? I am so sorry for all your pain and discomfort. I pray for you and Big Daddy daily.
Praying For You My Dear Friend Kayla You Are A Strong Lady And I Appreciate You Sharing What You Are Going Through. I Know About Chronic Pain But I Know Mine Is Not Like What You Are Going Through.I’m A Little Older Than You I’m Eighty A Lot’s Of My Problems Is From Having A Stroke Hit By A Car I Had Several Surgeries But Nothing Like What You Are Doing Through Love You My Friend May God Blessings Fall On You And Big Daddy Real Big 🙏🏾🥰♥️🌺💙🌼🍁🤎🍂🤗
Hi, Kayla. Sorry, you're in so much pain that you can't crochet. Knitting and crochet is my therapy. I am happy that you found coloring as yours until you can get back to crochet. I am mostly blind and completely colorblind. I can see a little bit of your stoma, but I'm sure I don't get the full impact, because I can't see the color but it sounds and looks so painful. I wish there was more they could do for you. I will keep you in my prayers, thanks for being willing to be vulnerable and share that because some people truly just can't understand otherwise how painful and how challenging chronic health issues can be.
Kayla… Sorry you’re going through this! Your doctors should have given you something to put on your raw skin!! You should let your doctors know that you are still suffering around your stoma. When I wanna relax… Besides crocheting… I watch the game show network on TV. It’s just a happy channel and you don’t have to think too much… Except for the crocheting part🤭
Can you use antibiotic ointment on it so it would help to heal it and keep it from pulling, I feel for you what you have to go through. I just have a tumor thing around my private area and when to a female doctor and they did a biopsy and its cancer. A type of skin cancer so going to pittsburgh to see how they and shave it off. They keep cutting and sending to lab until no more cancer shows. He said that way they get it all and its gone. But I am worried and you are awake for this. Not happy. It can be caused just by getting old and a mutation of cells. Ugh.
Kayla, your stoma irritation looks so very painful. If it is cellulitis, I can tell you it hurts, and it will not get better without treatment. I have a feeling you already know that, because you have probably gone through it. Your page turned really nice. I can't color like that. We are still praying for you and your family. God is good, and He is always available.
Use your home health nurse. I know mine can get answers from my doctor in-between appointments by calling himself and sending a picture. It is at least worth a try. Keep positive and kind to yourself. Sending love and hugs
I totally agree!!!
Has your doc brought up maybe going to a wound care clinic? They deal with all kinds of things that won’t heal. Hugs kayla.
Oh my gosh Kayla, that looks so painful😢 i agree with everyone, looks like you need an antibiotic! Be the squeaky wheel and I'm praying they listen❤
Call your own Dr on Monday. It looks like cellulitis to me. He can at least order a course of antibiotics to see if the skin gets better. If not, he can check that box off along with the new g tube box.
You poor lady, I don't know how you stand it. I would be crying like a baby, you are one tough cookie!! Sending love, prayers and hugs!

Kayla, why don’t you send a message via the portal to your doctors about there pain you are in with your stoma, and that the new tube did not help at all? Please do that. If it’s cellulitis, that of serious and needs to be treated with antibiotics. 🙏🙏
Agree 100%

I'm sure you already tried a triple antibiotic sab on the gtube site? I know it takes the sting/ burn out of a cat's bite or nail going in your skin ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness Kayla that looks awful painful. Dear God watch over my friend Kayla ease her pain❤
Ms. Kayla, I,m so sorry you are in so much pain. Your tube definitely looks infected to me. Like others said I’d called your doctor to see if you can get some antibiotics. Sending you strength!
Continued prayers and maybe get to doctors again.
Love you ❤
Love your channel just found you ❤❤

It looks like it needs to be treated like a burn, I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
Ugh.
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Kayla, your stoma irritation looks so very painful. If it is cellulitis, I can tell you it hurts, and it will not get better without treatment. I have a feeling you already know that, because you have probably gone through it. Your page turned really nice. I can't color like that. We are still praying for you and your family. God is good, and He is always available.
Use your home health nurse. I know mine can get answers from my doctor in-between appointments by calling himself and sending a picture. It is at least worth a try. Keep positive and kind to yourself. Sending love and hugs
