Well as far as other people they wouldn’t recognize him, maybe not to Lois

I think what rocked me most about this trailer is that we're finally being taken into Superman's world, rather than trying to drag him into our world. Billion dollar box office incoming imo 🦸 Great show guys!

For years I was someone who did not really give a shit about Superman. I like characters who are flawed regularly. So I’m more drawn to the Jason Todd’s. The smartest thing they could have done in promoting this movie was to show Superman’s humanity. To show him beaten down. To show him caring for people. That’s always been his true weakness to exploit is his humanity. And this whole trailer showcased that. I think especially with krypto showing up. Most people can relate to needing that pick me up from a pet from time to time. And seeing different heroes pop up in this story is like a comic book. There’s so many comics where it’s focused on one character but hey this one pops in because he was in the area. And I love that. Brings it back to the Justice League animated series days. I’m very hopeful with this movie and at the very least I’m just glad I can fricken see it😂 we finally have tones that are not greyscale and properly lit! We have some pops of color too!

Gunn said that Lex is the main antagonist but he’ll definitely have other villians such as ultra man and Engineer and maybe someone they won’t show yet

The Engineer is a curious one cuz she’s a member of The Authority…

@ She is but I’m thinking they work for Lex or Stagg and are paid to do what they’re told! So Im feeling that she’ll be on the wrong side until the end and will turn to the good side! If that makes sense

Totally does! Can’t wait to find out for real!

@ Oh me either! I think the other heroes are corporate heroes and Superman will inspire them to be better!

    So, 2 things:
First is for Mike, since you bring up "Lex and his machinations" and "boring" in the same breath: have you ever seen Smallville? Serious question, as I am genuinely concerned for your well-being in regards to Superman 🙂, and *different* stories/ approaches to his world's characters.
Anyone who's seen Smallville, love it or hate it, would genuinely recommend that version of Lex to you. Without a doubt, NOT "one dimensional" there! And as an aside, many a "non fan" have come away from the Smallville experience a new Superman fan because of how interesting they say, not only Clark's character is made, but most other Superman characters as well (especially Lex).
Second thing has to do with the issue of Clark's disguise...
I think whether someone is a fan of the character or not, both sides have expressed this concern. For me, I've always seen the disguise as the "idea" of being an optical illusion, and I always describe it like this - think about if you were playing a puzzle or strategy game that you're struggling to find the next "puzzle piece" to. You get stuck because you're not "seeing" it - but then the minute you DO see it, you get so frustrated at how simple that really was.
The "answer" having been right in front of your face all along, then being frustrated that you didn't come to the realization sooner, so you "kick yourself" over "how could I have missed it?," I think, is what Superman's dual identity is supposed to feel like to the audience.
It's both frustrating as a viewer "knowing" who he really is, AND to the people who know/ see him every day but just could never connect the missing piece of the puzzle.
If I were one of the writers, I'd want to make the disguise feel like an optical illusion because not being able to "see" it is just a way of not recognizing what's there, not paying attention, being distracted by other things around you, etc etc - The disguise is meant to be "unassuming" to anyone not focusing on it, who's got a short enough attention span as it is 🙂. Lol

I watched the first few seasons of Smallville when it was first airing as a young man (we can leave my age out of this). For reasons I can’t recall at this point, I never stayed with it nor did I ever go back to it.
And at this point in my life, I’m not watching it purely out of having too much else to do 😅 but I’ve heard a lot of people speak highly about it over the years, and there’s no denying that Michael Rosenbaum was on a whole other level with his take on Lex.

@WeAreTheBatman Rosey (his nickname lol) was the GOAT ... even though he has a signed STM poster from Hackman saying "to the *second best* Lex Luthor of all time." 😄
This was even shared in his podcast interview with Nic Hoult on *his* Lex...😉, whose portrayal looks n' sounds promising so far, but (aside from Hackman lol), the only other Lex actor to come close to Michael's, for me, has been the "Supergirl" series' Jon Cryer. Very impressive performance - they even had Otis and Miss Tessmacher on that show as well. It's worth checking out Supergirl seasons 4 & 5 just for him (he gets to flaunt the mech suit there for a minute, too 😉)
Also, in case you were unaware: Michael has another podcast different from his personal one that is *specifically* a Smallville rewatch podcast, titled "Talk Ville," hosted by none other than he and Tom - might be a better, more interesting way for you to "catch up" on the show if you do ever have some downtime for that 🙂. It's really fun, and Michael's overly critical opinions of the series up against Tom's much more level-headed, reasonable ones always crack me up! 🤣🤣
Sadly, they are already through S5 since they do one podcast episode a week so even as a big fan of their's, I'm way behind lol.
Aside from Michael's Lex though, the inclusion of Erica Durance's Lo Lane at the start of Smallville's 4th season is what got me sucked in. I was a Ride or Die SV fan at that point 🙃, lol. It still blows my mind to hear that Er was a mere casting director before she got that epic gig 😳... seems soooo surreal whenever an actor is just MADE for the role!!
