Do a budget rebuild using parts left over from other builds. Show that not all rebuilds need to cost a fortune and that with experience and good judgment parts can be reused. Cheers
Since you're rolling over the motor to do the compression test, why didn't you just run a compression test using vcds? It kills the fuel pump and does a test recording all the cylinder pressures. 😉
Gday guys, I love watching and really appreciate the tips you pass on. I’m a VCDS novice, learning all the time as I service my wife’s Q7 and daughter’s Tiguan. My VCDS has paid for itself many times over. Audi here wanted $40k to fix my wife’s car and so they wanted to make it a technical write off. It was a VERY steep learning curve, but I fixed it myself for about 1k in parts. A lot of time, but I loved the technical aspect of it all. The “old leaking coolant valve on the trans heat exchanger issue”. The loom gets pressurised with coolant. Lots of spurious “unrelated” codes. I’ll keep my opinions on Audi Technicians at the stealerships to myself. 😁 Anyway, just wanted to say that the advice and knowledge you share Rick is really really appreciated by people like me. Cheers, Nige from Oz 👍🍻
I'm excited to see videos of this build. It's highly interesting as I recently bought a Huracan and do all my maintenance and repairs on my own. Thank you!
This is the perfect platform to show off what you can do. If the engine’s an easy fix, which it could be? Fitting Turbo’s and Dobson gears would make it a great demo vehicle. Honest Kate. ❤ Good luck Rickie and well done buying this beauty.
The irony is I sent an email just the other day about broken valve springs. Is this an issue that's starting to become more prevalent, and if so is it a bad run of springs or is it idiots bouncing off the limiter? Would you recommend just buying up-rated valve springs as a preventative measure? Looking forward to this one, Rick, great video! Also turbo it. You know you're going to anyway, just get it over with.
I've seen alot of people talking about Audis with top end issues, seems to be premature valve train component failures, could be related they're all vag are they not ?
The Lambo forum I'm on doesn't seem to have any on the Huracans, the R8 forum I've seen has two or three instances of broken valve springs, some on very low mileage engines. The argument is whether or not it's a batch of bad springs affecting the 2017s in particular or if it's idiots bouncing off the limiter in neutral.
Ricky fix it and just drive it it's fast enough as it is keep it reliable then when it;s time to sell it stock lambo's would be more desirble easy to modify less easy to unmodify looks good mate cheers from down under
Nice new car Rik. Those wheels are beautiful. Leave them as is. Fix the car enjoy & move on. Better things await you Sir. Looking at the camera shots the piston looks ok. Probably just the valve problem to sort out.
Great content and channel. Interested to see the repair. If you end up breaking down the bottom end, is re using the mains / big ends a consideration? I would have thought replacing for new would be the only option..? Cheers
Hi Ricky, I'm in the process of building a beefed up 4.0l for my 765. I've got Darton sleeves in ductile iron with thicker walls. My question for you is, when it comes to con rods, do you prefer the "H" beams or the "X" beams from Pauter (cost isn't a factor)? I'd love to hear your opinion on this. I'm also speaking with a cam manufacturer to make billet camshafts.
No the circle in the centre and the letter underneath is actually a casting mark. If the valve had hit the piston you would have a “clean, section in the 2/4/8 or 10 o clock position.
@@REPerformanceUK ah ok, i was looking more towards the half way point between the circle and the letter than move to the left right above the exhaust valve cut out on the piston there is a 1/4 mark that looks like a nip from the valve? 26:24 gives you a better view although its hard to see on a phone there looks to be a shiny mark?
Nice new project. Build upgrades in the engine So you or the new owner can fit twin turbos and know the engine can take them. Will you be doing a update on all the other projects?
Hey up lads for me i think this was one ov your best videos really enjoyed it, but could've been rick saying he's into the rum ( Which one is your go to mate ) looking forward to seeing inside this engine, if youse do any mods to it have you considered adding the two missing cylinders
I completely agree about the “everyone’s a winner’ mentality . I’m an ex boxer and my son is a boxer. Believe me, everyone is not a winner. Having said that, I congratulate everyone for having the bollocks to get in the ring.
100%.... Participation awards/ trophies were brought in for thoses that never could win and couldnt handle always loosing. looking forward to see this rebuild.
So second hand story here if this is the same lambo (not sure on all details) from what ive heard the misfire came shortly after taking delivery, went to a specialist who put new coils on one bank, was apparently fine for another short time before missing again, into another garage in Southampton who did something else and again left seemingly fine, now its here. Im happy to be corrected if its a different lambo that happens to also be from a raffle
I'm looking forward to seeing (and sitting in please) the Lambo on the track day. If the weather doesn't pick up that's all we'll be doing on the 30th!
Sir, absol fab, i am prob one of those who thought, ik, no sleep for a few days AND, keep the camera running! Kate won't mind, bless her. With you all the way bro :)
I don’t know the details of the bike rider crash, but I share your concern over litigation, happened with the horses too, once upon a time you could punt your kids off to a riding school during the summer holidays, but now Riding schools can’t afford to insure under 16s to be in or around horses in case something goes wrong - as a club level racer litigation could kill off lower level motorsport :(
How about fastest Vw transporter in Europe!!! There’s a build that would light up your channel. Drag race Matt Armstrong, video a grand tour road trip. 🚀🚀🚀🚀
Do you think track days may end up being super expensive for bikes if Shakey wins his case. Could be a big problem for track companies having to buy air fences.
Ricky, Have you gone off of getting a McLaren? Lambo's a nice project. Don't get me wrong, but I thought you really wanted a McLaren. Great videos, by the way (I watch 'em over and over). Is there any more McLaren build stuff coming down the pipeline? Did you ever get the big ultrasonic cleaner? If so, that'd be an interesting episode. Keep up the great work.
Ricky Stanicky would b a great name fer ur car its such a funny Movie anyway great job once again proving ur a dam wizard sir really looking forward to some more technical stuff Congrates Kate

Just come across this channel - love this sort of content, learnt things 👍🏼👍🏼
Tax Deductible Turbos sounds like a no brainer - legitimate R&D that! 😜

@REperformanceUK what happened to the other half of the trans mount 10:14 on the green Lambo?

New T Shirt time “FBL”, fixing broken lambo 😂
Racing without winning is not a track day. It is the M25 on 08:43 on a rainy Tuesday morning in November.
Where is the crank sensor on these engines? I have a misfire coming from cyl 3 and figured I'd do a compression check
Do they do valve springs like all the 4cyl VAG stuff. Could it not just be a valve spring?

Think doing this lambo will help the channel. Looking forward to seeing this get fixed,
Really enjoyed this episode ...... can wait to see more on this build/fix ....... keep up the good work guys ..... always enjoy your content 👍🏼
Can’t wait to see this series unfold.
Congratulations on your purchase pal she’s stunning 😍 looking forward to the rebuild awesome content 👍
Thank you mate. Yeah the build should be good!!
This is going to be an awesome rebuild :)
Love to see a bit of vcds action. Currently messing around with a Bentley and it’s quite an easy program to navigate.
Had a feeling right at the start that a deal for the owner to get out was on the cards, Car looks mint btw

I never reuse bearings mate!!
Get the turbo’s on it and get some purple REP stuff on it great advert. Sell the noble as is SEP (someone else’s problem)
Great content looking forward to seeing the engine been rebuilt - keep it up Ricky and team 🤩
Weird, valve springs?
To make it easier to push, drop windows down and pull seat belts out and wrap them around your body. Done this over the years 😊😊😊😊😊😊
What a machine, looking forward to the rebuild, nice one.
And what a car it is , looks ace and look forward to the build 👍
Doesn't look like the piston had any impact marks on it.
you fucking blind theres two lines on piston if you look closely
Without watching the entire video, sounds like lifter, open valve issue. Cam issue. Does it have some form of VVTI.
Turbocharging is the way to go
Are you using a Ross Tech scanner on the Lamborghini saw vcds on the screen?
Yes mate
Awesome news on the new wagon 😃
Keep it n/a... it looks a cracking motor for sure 👌

Thank you
Intrigued and excited about the new business venture 👍
What happened to the Noble, did you scrap it or is it on hold?
No just on hold….trying to find a chassis!
Do Aircon cooling down the intercooler. Like Björk.
Aye a smart fella
26:18 you can see the mark on the piston clear as day 😢

Does the new RS4 owner have a channel or blog? I’d be interested in following that having just bought one.
Interesting 😎 looking forward to the strip down 💪
Nice new project. Build upgrades in the engine So you or the new owner can fit twin turbos and know the engine can take them. Will you be doing a update on all the other projects?

Put turbos on it!!!!
Saw the amazing Lambo at Sywell, looked to be running really well.....
Yeah the mad rush was for Supercar fest…glad it’s running well!!
Is that the one from dcg if so I bidded for it,
Personally think you should use it as a demo car twin turbo it put your decals over it and use it
I’m not sure on the company mate, was about a year ago now.
Do you guys do ZF upgrades ?
what were your thoughts on shakey
Is the ttrs on the ramp the one that didnt run well on Jamies channel?
19:12 Don't people who own these cars think these things through? As an arm chair technician, I think the problem on bank 2 is the different plugs.
Is this going to the ring then Ricky? 😎love your channel 👍💪
Ricky’s first Lambo- That’s not my Lambo, it’s too ouchie! 😂

Very nice Lamborghini look forward to seeing the outcome

No he had this one a year…it went faulty at a dealer who had it to sell it for the owner!
I'm looking forward to seeing (and sitting in please) the Lambo on the track day. If the weather doesn't pick up that's all we'll be doing on the 30th!
If its doer upper for a quick sale, then keep it stock, A keeper gets the full fat.
Good on you Ricky, will it be ready for the track day 😂
Done in two weeks, excellent!
Questionable decisions are the best decisions 👍🏻
Nice one boys! Great to see you today!

Totally agree with you about telling kids about winning... 👍
Spot on Ricky, fix it, enjoy it for a while and move it on and put the money in the bank!
Turbo’s hell yeah 👍🏽
How did you become a bad ass mechanic bro.
Definitely not the Cam Sensor’s this time Ricky 😢😢😢😢😢the way forward it is
No mate unfortunately not lol

Yeah the case being right or wrong it’s insurance that will kill motorsport.

@@senco981biggest factor is always maintenance! IMO

So you talked yourself into a full on engine and gearbox build so go with the adage “if I’m going to fix it I’m going to make it better”

7:55 and if you watch me pee 😂😂😂 no thanks

So that's 1/2 finished car number four then ?
Glad you said Wokingham and not Woking! 😅😂
No obvious damage visible on the piston crown I thought… maybe it’s not so bad after all.
Time to upgrade the FBS t-shirt to ‘fixing my broken shit’ 😂
😂😂😂😂
Looking forward to the upcoming “World’s first twin-charged Lamborghini” build series 😁
🍿
Good luck with the en-gine, Ricky !
So what would've caused this?
Broken valve spring
Great video again
