As a Dutch Arsenal fan I only learned about the existence of Spurs when I started following the Prem around 15 years ago. Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea were familiar names as they played European football which was on tv for free at the time, but in my view Spurs are really just a West Ham with a league title from half a century ago. Its more like a Liverpool Everton derby than for example Liverpool MU. The rivalry is there because of proximity, not because Spurs are actually competing for anything. As for the brighter future, Spurs missed their window under Potch and will start almost from skretch while its gonna be hard to attract top talent when the bigger clubs will try to do the same. And say what you want about Arsenal's dry spell, in Europe they are still regarded as a big club that has fallen away for a while, rather than yet another team thats trying to climb up. Arsenal will always have a huge pull on players because of the name, the size of the fanbase / revenues and attractive football. Spurs are just.... there. A decent size club like Newcastle, Villa and Everton, but not among the biggest clubs.

Let’s compare the 2 teams:
On the one hand there is Arsenal - players are professional, well drilled and know they have a responsibility to do their best for their fans.
On the other hand there is Spurs - players are a bunch of gutless spineless cowards who don’t like to play under pressure and feel they have no responsibility to fans. The players are a rag tag bunch of big time Charlies who couldn’t care less. Players like Bissouma for example - anyone think he cares about playing well?

I watched a UA-cam video of spurs fans at the beginning of the season 10 games in and they were still unbeaten and the way they were ranting that they were the best. They were even telling a female fan that was telling them to be patient that she is not a real fan for not believing.
