Their hearing actually isnt that much better than a red foxes hearing. Their big ears arent for better hearing, it helps regulate their body temperature in the blazing Sahara sun.

In my experience male foxes tend to be more standoff ish, and females tend to be more submissive. But I have also heard if you are a male, females will be more submissive for you, if you are female, male foxes will be a better choice. Personally, I have had the best luck with females, and I would recommend getting them spayed to avoid any risk of cancer.
Firstly, it is a her not a him. Secondly, that collar is not tight at all. Fennecs are more fluff than body. I can tell it is on plenty loose. She would not suffer any harm from that collar. I bet you could easily squeeze a finger or two between her neck and the collar.
these fennec foxes most be hard to have as pets because there so hyper.
