I have been wanting a heat source in my garage for several years now and finally bit the bullet and completed the installation. I will walk you through the process of installing the Dyna-Glow 7500W Electric Heater. I will leverage a NEMA 14-50 Outlet I already have installed which is primarily used for electric car charging but will work well for this use for the handful of days I need it each winter.
    Dyna-Glow 7500W Heater: amzn.to/3DKP3MH
    Welder Extension Cord: amzn.to/3HnGAjw
    NEMA 14-50 Plug: amzn.to/3Jir8ro

Strongly suggest not buying this unit. Had element failure after one winter of use. Email to customer service got zero replay. Called the company and they will not sell you a replacement element even though it's a current product. So...this is basically a throw-away unit if anything fails. $250 down the drain! Two thumbs down!!

I have the same heater in my 800 SQ FT 4 car garage in Indiana. It’s wired in the same way using my 220 plug for car charging and welding. It works great but when I added a old ceiling fan in my the center of my garage it was a game changer. Takes 1/2 the time to heat it up to 65 deg and keeps it a nice even heat in all corners of the garage.

If heat rises, then you’ll just be heating up the upstairs not the garage I think

Nice install, my only criticism is the thermostat wire should have some kind of grommet or chafe protection, especially since there is a fan in that heater that will cause vibration.

I have an issue with this heater. 2nd winter in use and it did not seem to be heating as much as the first winter. Took down and opened it up and found one of three heat elements was open. Called the company to get new heating element ( all three contained within a single unit). The heating element assy is not available. Though this company is still selling the garage heater. Obviously if they are still manufacturing the unit, heating elements must still be available. I do not recommend this heater. I bought this in January, 2022 for $200. It now cost $369. Thank you Brandon!

For people doing this, if not using proper cord, take the extra 20 seconds to wrap your white wire with red electrical tape, or paint it with a red sharpie to identify it as hot. As it sits, without knowing, an assumption can be made that it's a neutral wire, not hot. Yes, the terminals have labels of L1 and L2, but it's a sticker, stickers come off with heat.

The welder cable you linked says it is only 12 AWG in the description, which of course would be way undersized for a 7500 W heater or even a 5000W heater. Also saw a review talking about misleading information on the wire size -- like maybe the terminations are rated higher than the wire? Might wanna double-check that. I can't tell in the video -- the insulation is quite fat, but not sure about the copper.

Using your billing rate for your electric cost without the cost of delivery is foolish. My electricity used to be about 12 cents but after delivery it came out to about 25 cents. Let's use real costs on electricity please

Interesting that you can just hook low voltage wiring to those big old lugs for thermostat wiring. I just bought one of these and the installation instructions are confusing. They make it seem like you need to use a line voltage thermostat and they list 14 awg as the minimum size thermostat wire.

FYI , I leave mine on the LOWEST setting in my 30 X 36 insulated pole barn. adds approximately $150.00 per month to the bill. 59 degrees all winter. I live in Pennsylvania. sounds expensive but all my toys stay warm and toasty. It's worth it!

Our builder left us 220 at both ends of our garage ceiling in our 3 car garage. I installed 2 similar heaters in the garage. Sure is nice to work comfortably during these cold winter days.

Nice project. Put up a similar unit in my garage last Jan (did a video on it, too) and it has been a winter lifesaver for car projects in cold weather. Easily bumps in up even my insulated garage around 20-25 degrees in short order. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Great video thanks for the info. I recently got the X series 10kw heater and used a 50amp RV extension 6/3 + 8/1 for the wiring to my 14-50 outlet. Just cut the female end off to length and cap the neutral (white wire) since it is not used for 240.

Thank you for sharing. Planning on installing a similar heater in attached garage after I finish insulating ceiling.

That is pretty cost effective. If you have a project for 6 hours and it will cost about $6. Not to mention that if the temp reaches to require setting, it will shut off. Great install. Thank you for sharing

Was taught many years ago to always have several more inches of slack on ground wires from all cords. Reason being if cord ever pulls out of flimsy romex connectors the ground wire would still be connected. In commercial sites we usually used Kelms grip cord connectors. The stainless steel 6 to 10" basket heavy enough that you a 300 pound guy can hang onto a cord without pulling out the cord.

Would love to see your thermostat setup on this heater! Will be installing the same one in a few days.

I have a similar heater and an infrared heater in my home garage/workshop. For my 220 electric heater I put a thermostat on it. I don’t remember what UA-cam video I saw but he recommended a particular thermostat for the heater and it works great. I use the 220v heater to warm it up a little until my infrared heater warms things up and I switch the electric heater off. Also when I mounted my electric and infrared heaters I used a 2x6 long enough to go across 3 studs and mounted them in place, then mounted each heater to them. I just wanted some extra beef to tie them into…. But then I tend to over build.
