you prolly dont care but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Emmitt Marshall Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
The first tool I ever bought when I got my 911 was the lug bolt alignment tool. It screws into the hub where the lug bolts would go. After removing the wheel for cleaning, etc... your screw the alignment tool into the highest available hole in the hub. The alignment tool is slightly tapered so you can easily slide the wheel back over the tool and align the remaining holes with the holes in the wheel. They usually come in sets of two which helps even more, but I usually get by using one. Once the wheel is slid into position begin screwing in the lug bolts until you have two or three in place. Then remove the alignment tool and do the remaining bolts and torque to the proper setting. The alignment tools run about $50 a set and are configured by Porsche model. These things save a lot of wrestling with your wheels as you try to align the holes.
I'm a Brit living in the USA and have a 992. Very useful and well presented info but upvoted/subscribed just for the wonderful accent which brings back memories. Thanks - looking forward to more videos.
LOL at #10, you're absolutely right these cars are not cheap to maintain. Doing your own oil change and repairing the basic parts is the best way to save money and keep your car running. Your video was very helpful Satch, thank you for sharing.
Vincent T. Thanks Vincent. Yeah if you can save a little on servicing and basic repairs then great. It’s also a great way to get to know the car and the general condition. Thanks for watching 👍👌
Halfords Advanced socket sets are decent and come with a lifetime warranty as do the other tools in the range. They can take a beating as well. My 200 piece set came with the torx bits, allen keys and spanners as part of the kit. Well worth the money
Wheel mounting tool! Invaluable and only about £10. Wheel Mounting Tool, Screw into one of the wheels bolt holes, and then hang your wheel in place, saves the wheel from slipping and sliding when you are trying to the bolts back on
I have one suggestion that I believe is a needed tool and that is a can of tire inflator. Since these don’t have spare tires, I would put that at the top of the list.
Yes I've found a charger necessary. However my garage has no power and I only use my 997 once every few weeks. My solution was to buy two 850 AH AGM batteries, the biggest that will fit (same as an 04 bmw 7). Every 6 months I swap them over and recover the spare one with a proper AGM charger. This way I can leave my car up to a month at a time and not worry about restarting. Before the AGM it was hopeless even a big normal lead acid big battery was hopeless.
Just did my first maintenance on my 992. Took the tires and wheels off to clean the wheels. Hwavy and hard to manage. The two extension studs shown in the manual would be very helpful.
Oil pressure gauge was reading low. Needed . 19mm 90 deg.Claw foot wrench to get to the oil pressure Sending unit which of course is buried in back of the motor on my 996. Change it out all good. Ceramic coat your paint mate. It was worth every penny.
Great information with uncanny and entertaining delivery. Thanks Satch. Your videos figured substantially in my decision to buy a 987.1, which has turned out to be a great decision! I haven't stopped smiling since. Keep up the great work! And thanks for the shopping list! I never knew there was such a thing as a low-lift!
I bought a ft lb tq wrench from a harbor freight store for 20 dollars and I use it on lug nuts. I'm an aircraft mechanic and we have a tool calibration shop where I took the harbor freight torque wrench in for the calibration test and it was 95% accurate , which was good enough for me. A couple of things you shouldn't do to a tq wrench is to using it to break the nuts or bolts with it, and unwind the tq tension setter to zero when not using it .
Hi. Watched you for the first time today. Been in and aound Porsche cars for a while now. I would never, ever, use that three clawed device to remove an oil filter. Its too agressive. Use the very cheap Porsche attachment which gently grips the filter at the bottom hex shaped part. Many Porsche filters are plastic composite so a claw gripping it is not a good idea. Also, lots of your ten items are not tools and really seem to be fill in items. You left off Torque wrenches ( very importatnt for fasteners going in alloy castings ) , plastic levers for removing internal panels, jack stands or ramps, multi grips ( a very important second pair of hands ) and a good breaker bar. Nice blue Porsche you have BTW. Lovely car.
Hi Satch, looking very smart by the way. Just like to add that the other half bought me a Halifords Advanced 200 piece socket set and I must say it's amazing. Has all your Torx ,Hex and Driver sockets, the only set I have ever needed to work on my CaymenS. It also come with Halifords Advanced lifetime guarantee with free replacements no questions asked. Well worth the money. Keep up the good work. Mick 👍🍻
Sounds like a good piece of kit Michael, i will look into that one, it would be nice to have an all in one set for easy access. Thanks for watching appreciate it
Torx Sockets, Allen Key (hex) sockets, Female Torx Sockets. Sockets are indispensable for proper wrenching, my 997 had torx head bolts all though the engine (alternator, water pump etc) the female torx sockets are a must for a 997, I don't know about older 911's and other models though
Good video some top tips I would add an alloy wheel alignment tool to the list super helpful when removing and put wheels back on. Just a few pounds on Ebay.
Good video - instead of opening the frunk to trickle charge the battery is it safe to connect the charger to the red “fuse” generally used to get the frunk open in the event of a dead battery? Seems easier to Keep a charger connected there. Just not sure If there’d be any repercussions using that fuse in that fashion
Some handy info there, but a few others I would recommend are: Jack pads which lock in to the jacking point. A wheel locating guide tool to screw in to the hub before removing your wheels, especially if you have PCCB. A 1/2" & 3/8" drive torque tool. I can defo recommend the 101 projects book. packed with useful info!
No mention of the Porsche Center Cap Removal Tool? Admittedly, there are other ways of removing a center cap but having the right tool always makes it easier. And then there's also the wheel stud pilot pin/hanger, seeing as how German cars don't have studs on which to hang wheels when mounting them on a vehicle.
I have a 997, I prefer the hex and torx bits that connect to my socket set 1/4 or 3/8 drive. I feel I can get more leverage with a ratchet over the tools shown in the video.
Useful to have a spark plug socket and swivel sockets. Changing your own spark plugs can save a lot of paid labour hours. There are plenty of YTube videos that show how to do this correctly. Great video, thanks 👍🏻
Gotta get that scanner and book. Everything else I already have (from wrenching on my own VW/Audi cars over the years). Good video and thanks for the links.
Very very useful info indeed. But you forgot to mention the PET2 software, which you can donwload for free. Besides, a PRO scanner doesnt qualify as “cheap”. Cheap will be a generic OBD2 reader plus an app compatible with porsche. Title must be changed to: 10 tools every porsche owner that WANTS TO WORK IN HIS CAR should purchase. Then it will make all sense.
Hey thanks I appreciate it - trying to change the angle just a little but remain on topic and still get the content across. Thanks for watching appreciate it
Don't know the detail of maintenance records you have for the car. I recommend starting with the intermediate and regular maintenance sheets and set your baseline (fluids, drive belt, filters, spark plugs, coils). The drain plug damage should have been called out on a PPI. I'd start looking over the car more closely.
Hi I got a serious question for u. What porsche would you buy for 30 grand and then what porsche would you buy for 40 grand also what do you think the mileage would be for the cars you go for obviously we would all like a low mileage but b realistic in your answers considering age of car and average mileage per year. Also the main thing almost forgot is it has to be a convertible!
Nice video Satch some good recommend tools here and actually really cheap - if your willing to give things ago it’s no more expensive to run than a bmw or Mercedes.
The Porsche sports cars actually come apart easier than modern BMWs and Mercs. They are mostly very well designed with ease of repair built in (as long as you follow the instructions)
And the other fantastic thing is the parts availability. The dealerships actually keep an inventory of common parts. I work on my own cars and I have BMWs a Porsche and A Hyundai. The Hyundai is the hardest and most costly to get genuine or high quality parts for. Porsche is better than BMW.
Id recommend speaking to the people you bought it off as they will have quick links to the iCarsoft guys - but feel free to reply with your problem as it might be something i have seen before.
@@alsatch_ Sorry excuse my english I didn't by it yet just wondering if it could troubleshoot roof issue, The probleme appear on a daily basis everytime closing or opening the roof it look like in the sequence the hook that grab the windshield it isn't deploy or retrack depending opening or closing and the stop in the middle of sequence need to trigger twice the roof switch to make him finish is closing or opening
Thanks I understand you. Ok the kit does work on the 981 convertible top, so providing the fault is electrical (and not mechanical) then the POR v2.0 will find the fault and allow you to reset or at least understand why the problem is occuring. Does the CTek plug into your power source in the car, or direct to battery? In my vette I can plug into the cigarette lighter and charge the battery which is brilliant.... Greetings from Newcastle!
BlakZ06 in the 996 it plugs into the cigarette lighter. It does this if the socket is always live. Check by turning off the ignition then push in the lighter - if it warms up then the socket is always live

2:30 The CTEK is far from the best quality charger on the market. It is a charger but when you open it up for a repair, it is cheaply made.
Approved ! from a 997.1 Carerra S owner, but i would rather go for the Durametric diagnostic tool for Porsche, much better in my opinion
How much better? I know the Durametric is solid but you need a laptop. Mine is dated.. Was thinking O icarsoft since it doesn't need one.
Good video some top tips I would add an alloy wheel alignment tool to the list super helpful when removing and put wheels back on. Just a few pounds on Ebay.

Great vid change your trunk light bulb to led cheap and easy and it looks modern
Great info. Thanks. I've bought some of these for my Z4. Really worth the money if for no other reason than saving time. Thanks again.
John Howell yes John, very cheap most of them and make life a lot easier. Thanks for watching 👍👌
Absolutely love your tenth tool!!
Did your give that guy a kick? Why was he beeping his horn?
Thanks for the tips, new into the Porsche family, we just picked up a 2009 Cayman S

Can you add how to change the oil and filter on a Porsche boxter/cayman
Still need the scanner but boy I do have the 2 post lift! So that makes everything easier
That is a Cobalt Blue 987.1S with aftermarket front LEDs strip?
How about a quality tire pressure guage needed for changes in seasonal tempertures?
Good and informatve video, much appreciated.
Hey Satch what’s different on you caymans bumper?? I notice led’s but is that bumper oem?
Indy Singh oem bumper with LED spars, and fluid 987 splitters, the splitters are no longer made and impossible to get hold of unfortunately.

@2:21 - you just made my week!
Thank you for the video. I need these tools for my Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Could have done with you being nearby when I was out filming in the mountains and the exhaust bolts failed! 😥
Porsche charger is a rebranded CTEK not vise-versa...
Great video my friend! What a super channel you've got going, amazing job! Keep it up! 👊😀
about the oil filter removing tool, you would damage the oil filter housing every time you remove it, yes?
I like his shop clothes too!
You know your stuff, man. Respect.
I need to pick some of these up.
Buck McAntlerson thanks Buck. Yeah the best thing is that most of them are pretty cheap, other than number 10 🤣
Durametric is a very good tool for diagnostics, but it aint cheap
If money were. no object, I would get a Panamara Executive 4S. I love luxurhy and go fast! Great car.

What do I look for
I'm loving my 01 996 I bought in November 2020 for just that purpose.
Thanks satch good informative video I do have most of these products so I’m going in the right direction
Great, yeah fairly simply & cheap tools. Thanks for watching :-)
Nice video Satch some good recommend tools here and actually really cheap - if your willing to give things ago it’s no more expensive to run than a bmw or Mercedes.

Is that a gentian Blue Metallic?
Good vid Satch 👍
