My high school choir from Minnesota USA traveled Europe in 1969. I was 17. My choir performed a concert in the Freiburg Stadtpark Saturday, August 2, 1969, 8:00 PM. Then, for a week, we participated in an international choir fest. That was an extraordinary time. Freiburg hat mir gefallen.
It's kinda interesting that a few people would take time and trouble to bring the sounds of real Alpenhorn to the Basler Hauptbannof in the days just before Xmas ... and then someone would complain to the police about the "noise". Good will to all men.
Wow really excellent work watching it again because of how breathtaking the city is and thanks for sharing part of your story where the real journey started
I can relate to you going back and how it changed you. I spent 2 1/2 years in Germany with the US Army. 5 months in Berlin then the rest in Bayreuth. Having my son stand with me in the same locations where I was, was emotional to say the least.
I visited Freiburg with friends in 2002, while heading back to the French alps after a snowboard contest in Austria. Spending the night at my best friends girlfriends house, we had a great night out and the next day went to a beautiful coffee shop (The Oscars, I believe?) that sold the best breakfast, before a little sight seeing and hitting the road. Such amazing memories, especially given that it was my first time in Germany. Now I am dating a girl from Münster and have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time enjoying many of the beautiful sights on offer in Germany. We are now thinking of possibly relocating to Freiburg in order to be closer to the alps. :) Thank you for your wonderful content and for sharing your emotional experience. Best wishes from Scotland. Duncan.
Hey Duncan! Thanks for sharing your beautiful memory of Freiburg. It warmed my heart reading it. As far as I could experience/hear from people who have lived there for a long time, the only real problem that some have with Freiburg is that it's after all a very small city and therefore doesn't offer the broad cultural life that other cities offer, although it's very lively for its size, mainly due to the university. So if you don't mind that, I think it might be a great option for being closer to the Alps and still living in Germany.
Thank you for putting this up. I visited Freiburg in 1995 when I was Inter-railing on my own. it’s a very special friendly place hopefully I will get to visit again one day.
Visited all around the world several times but Freiburg im Breisgau is very very peace ful and open armed for foreigners natives are always ready to help and open hearts may God bless Germany and german nation. 😊

Ha nice that it was in 2011-2012. Was the best year of my studies. I started with an internship here in the Netherlands at the national park/forest service, leading to me wanting to follow a master at Wageningen University in relation to sustainability. The best and workwise most fun internship I did.
