I know this video will piss off many people and for two reasons: (1) some will comment he's not a scammer, (2) others will complain that I'm showing the "bad side" of Egypt.
Until the last moment, I didn't know if to publish it, because I knew some of these reactions were going to happen. But I felt so betrayed by this guy that at the end I clicked on the publish button.
Still, let me explain my points of view.
    (1) Ok, you wanna argue he's not a scammer, but can you at least admit he's a liar? Now that you have admitted that, scammers make money preying on people's good intentions. What did happen in this video? I had good intentions, I offered my hand and he took my harm. It's really depressing what happened and I really do hope there is a solution for him: if you wanna help him, you'll find him in the evenings around Talaat Harb.
    (2) This bullshit that I show the "bad side" of Egypt, when in 90% of my videos I was in super expensive places, it has to end. First of all, what you consider the "good side" of Egypt, malls and more malls, it's not even the 5% of Egypt and can be afforded by only the 5% of Egypt. So what you're telling me is that 95% of your country is bad, what you're telling me is that you hate your country, you love only 5% of it. To me seems that I love your country more than you do!
    Thank you for reading

I feel bad exposing this man, but maybe after this video, someone will be able to help him.
He reminds me too much of my grandpa: well dressed, well spoken, and friendly in the right way. But under this layer of beauty, lies totally break me down. It's not how I was educated. It's against my principles. But I really do hope the best for him.

No worries, we like to see the good, the bad and the beautiful. It’s just reality and it’s important to be aware of scammers and generous people. I think most ppl here are mature enough to understand that it’s by no means a generalization.

This was great video with suspense and a touch of beguile. :-) I know it was a terrible experience to live through but this was CONTENT! I was glued to the screen watching and waiting to see when the flimflam would start. By the way, the ambiance of the narrow streets & denizens of the night there was fascinating! If you can net any profit from the video I would say it was a worthwhile learning experience even if still down a few Euro's. :-) I sincerely hope that this video get a lots of views, it definitely deserves it. It was raw & intense and should have broad appeal!

the tour was not worth it. there are genuine people who would give you a tour for an honest price without scamming you at the end. i wouldn't have given him money because he wasn't honest about the transaction from the beginning. it also promotes more scammers instead of honest tour guides. the scammers should also be reported to the police regardless.

Honestly i I thought at begin that he is an Egyptian actor cause he looks the same, In Egypt u will find type of people who will meet you and treat you as their guest and take u everywhere and makes u pay nothing then by the end of the day will take u back to ur hotel and salutes you and say goodbye without expecting nothing in return, on the other hand u will find scammers who seeks for money all the time and think because ur a foreigner ur rich, they don't know how u live or how much u earn, and these type of people u will meet always in touristic places so just avoid making friendships with strangers in the touristic places this is my advice to you.

He seems to be so much smarter than making you believe that you are really paying for his motor bike. He is desperate for money and giving you a tour was his only way to make money. Not nice or even acceptable to do so without letting you know that he does this for a living. But before calling him a scammer remember that he's giving you reasons that require thousands of EGPs but hasn't asked for a penny more than what he deserves after that tour. Not defending him, but may God help him and I don't really hope him or any of his family members ever to see your video.

    • @MichelePonte

Nobody has ever paid thousands of EGP for a walk in Bulaq, that’s crazy prices: and it’s cheaper to go inside the pyramids!

After watching your video I went into emotional pain again. Due I was also scammed in Egypt even though I was very careful and didn't trust this guy for two years. These people are pros. They find a way into your hearts and into your wallet. For that they would even break your psyche. I was so shocked to expierence that myself. I am a muslim for so much love for egyptian and speaking also Arabic. Islam forbids these things very clearly. While to trick and cheat people makes every money you earn vanish away from you like air. It is clearly haram and as I said I was scammed by a pro who used my friendship of two years only and tooked my trust for granted. In the end I would like tell you this, you have a good heart. You are a clean soul. Karma will get this people hard believe me I saw it with my own eyes. That he hurt your feelings is not acceptable. I am praying for you my friend, to become successful one day with your Channel. 🙏💶🤲 Amen..! I still love Egypt but this behavior is a Big no go and turnes these places into no go area's.

Michele - Your problem is that you have a bigger heart than your wallet. You cannot save the world anymore than I can myself. You may offer charity from time to time, but you also need to survive within your financial means. I will compliment this gentleman for taking you around and explaining the history and information as you passed through the streets. However, you had previously purchased dinner and given him money, prior to meeting up and traversing the village. Once out on the streets, his remarks about needing money for this or that, pretty much made it obvious he is indeed a scammer and most likely a liar to boot. And I’m not buying any story that you only show the bad side of Egypt. When you stayed at the better places in Egypt, you were being hosted by your friends. On your own, you are always looking for a place to stay that is within your budget. I sure as hell don’t ever recall you staying at a Ritz-Carlton when traveling in any country. Overall, did you show us the good side and bad side of Egypt? What you presented to us was how the rich and poor people of Egypt live. All factual, and no BS! Rich versus poor can be found in any country. I compliment you 100% for presenting the truth to your viewers. I also understand how the loss of your father can bring forth feelings because of the sadness that still exists within you. You are only human. Chalk this incident up for another life learning experience, and in the future, you will handle any similar situations differently. Keep the dream my friend! You have many dedicated subscribers who care, and will always have an open ear to listen! 👏❤️🙏

I will tell you something that will probably make feel good,
He is not a scammer he seems to be a good man but poor. I understand Arabic and he says good things about you to other people.
I went to Egypt once and trust me people from Europe, Australia, and the rest of the world are so lucky compared to gulf countries!
I have Egyptian friends and I always go out to different Cairo markets with them and I enjoyed it! really no one is bugging me and following, my friends will ask them to stay away. One time I went alone and man I end up spending almost 2K Egyptian in like 3 hours for nothing, the amount is fine this is what I will spend in a restaurant for a dinner in Europe or most of the world but the issue is I did not enjoy at all, I end up throwing money at the scammer's face on the front of his colleagues so he can feel shameful (I did not want to do this), his friends are telling him to stop scamming people but he insisted and we almost end up fighting for nothing. People in Egypt are very friendly and nice and most of them are well educated and have good self-respect but like the rest of the world, there are always bad people.
Tips for you or anyone going to Egypt :
1- Do not speak English and do not give them a chance to communicate with you.
2- Always threaten them by calling the police and do not move along with them as they are trained with so many people before you to sell you something that they do not need, trust me the police will stand on your side.
3- Rules and regulations in Egypt are easy, I traveled to many countries and Egypt is the best, the rules are very easy to follow and scammers always try to tell rules that do not exist.
4- If you have a friend in Egypt try to reach him and you will enjoy your trip.

I do not know , I think you could tell him just , you do not have money to donate or help him, he did not give you taxi driving service or something, also when he took you to the shops you did not buy anything and he was not pushy, it looked like friendly walk, you just wanted to make content, and that is fine but you should tried with real scammer, you should told him you would put him on YT for 15 Euros and he might of approved

Scammers are everywhere all over the world, it would have been better if you just mentioned it without publishing. By the way, I am one of the Egyptian fans of your channel.

    what a scammer, no way.
you have right with all what you said, thought and did.
he should be shame of himself, i would go with you this trip for sero euro, and i will buy you some food to eat and something to drink also, that is the arabian hospitality. fixing a motorcycle is not your problem. i am really sorry for you and i apologize instead of the whole Arabic nation.

Any one who sees this guy in Cairo will know too avoid him. How many tourists have been set up by this guy. Better just to make travel videos.
