You are DEAD ON about the psychological torment of prolonged solitary. Its hard to comprehend if you havent experienced it. Its 100x worse than being in a 'warzone' yard. If its war time, your mind is occupied 24/7. The worst type of torture is psychological & everything you said is just 100 spot-on. You cant put cast on PTSD and psychosis
Dubs I spent 25 months , three weeks, and six days in Solitary Confinement in the SHU. My first 15 and a half months were spent in another confinement area I had been at. Every nuance of your story about being in the hole and know everyone’s routines was dead on. We had a Dookie Man and a Caca Boy. People break, scream, yell, etc. But my opinion? The absolute best way to do time. The level of respect, knowledge, thought before action is so beneficial in your entire life.

Ive applied the respect you talk about when it comes to men in prison, out here in the free world especially at my job, and it actually works. Ive been treating all the guys at work with this new respect, even the ones I don't really care for. And even though it may not be reciprocated all the time, I still feel at peace. Ive noticed my day is just a little better. I dont feel disrespected. I can't explain it but to me its a good feeling. Thank you

I was put in solitary confinement in the county jail here in Washington state with no books only my paperwork no commissary i couldn't take more then couple days started freaking out i went back to gp as soon as i could
There is an ex CO called jim dagena on here. I got to admit his take was interesting at first. He seemed like he trying to give credit at first. But i remembered him from something he had been in before. He was the one who went before congress and tried to take away EVERYTHING from shu inmates. Im sure you would probably feel a different way than someone who doesn't know him on that level. Some of the shit he said and how he said it i get the sense he has a grudge againt certain types ill just say. I think that would be a cool reaction video.
