Another train horns compilation, featuring most of the train horns collected by me within the last 2 years in the UK. A variety of horns from lots of different trains is included. Enjoy!
The horn at 2:54! That's adorable! Bahahahahahahaha! 3:05 Sounds like a donkey! :D 6:18 A little Beethoven! Hilarious! Interesting that most of these whistles are single notes, while in the States, they tend to be chords - mostly diminished, with the odd minor and rare major. :D
ACETrainsUK U.S. Horns are actually the musical horns. They are tuned to a musical cord. Many of the UK horns sound out of tune and dont have the same range as something like a U.S. Horn eith 5 individual horns. Depending on how they are sounded, they can produce many different sounds. And they are loud. I doubt Americans could even hear UK horns. We arent used to something so weak to announce something so grand as a train.
0:17 I like that horn! 0:30 nice catch of a 1 car freight train! 2:36 what train was that class 47 towing? 5:20 nice to see a 2-car loco-hauled passenger train!
Beautiful!!! I commuted by train several years to work! Slept all the way with an alarm clock to wake me before my station! The rocking and the horn sounds, the sounds of the wheels on the tracks, were all very soothing to me! 💜
Because America is a loud and over the top nation 😂. The U.K. is proper and polite. Think of it as the U.K. horn saying ‘oh sorry, excuse me, sorry’ and the American horn saying ‘GET OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY’ 😂
Normally when they get to a "W" warning sign for level crossings. But they often blow their horns for train enthusiasts, depending on what the driver wants to do.
NodoSmall American train horns sound like actual HORNS because they are tuned as actual musical instruments are. Many have 5 horns, they sound much better and are LOUD, demanding attention. UK horns sound like a childs toy. Embarrassing!
love this so much! Makes me cry with laughter - I know that wasn't the intention but some of the sounds are so comical. Love trying to identify the trains and the stations. Some interesting traffic there!
Oh, I don't really know, it has always been like that since the modern diesel days in the UK. All new trains in the UK also have the two voices as well so it may be required by law.
Awesome thanks for sharing and especially thanks for your fortitude in the face of your work being ripped off to make music...
Thank you very much!
I didnt know trains could fart.

They sound really cute actually. Though our horns in America are better.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Each to their own I suppose ;) American horns do sound great but I prefer the musical British horns :)
Luke Tansiongco other than some of the deep 2 tone Hi Lo type horns in the vid sure.

@@romansten9 Dunno why people assume UK train horns are quiet...
There is no practical need for overly loud horns.
My favorite line is the cross country because I go on them alot more than great western and like the 220 horn
2:19 YES FINALLY A SUPER VOYAGER
I'm a 220 fan

5:20 nice to see a 2-car loco-hauled passenger train!
Thanks, the 47 was towing a Virgin Trains "Pretendolino", which was a rake of Mk. 3 carriages that were hired by Virgin Trains a few years ago :)
That's actually a 57 at 2:36.

0:17 and 6:36, sounds somewhat like K5LA horns.
That's a DVT. Probably the nearest to a K5LA you'll hear in England.
@@Scotford_Maconochie what is the horn called? My favorite horn is the old school Amtrak K5la and the DVT uses a simillar sounding horn.
1:22
I love when they honk the horn and the train rushes past you at the same time
I love those 2 tone horns so cool. Wee woo

0:25 that sound was used by some crappy roblox game 😅
0:17 and 6:36 are both the only ones I like in this video.
Which was a DVT horn
What do you think of them?
I think the DVT horns sound quite American so I do like them :)
I agree!
And to me, I would say North American (US & Canada) than just American, because American and Canadian trains do cross parts.
7:40
Oh, they all are so lovely, especially faulty ones.

Every train horn is the best
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Favourite horns in the video: Most of Eastleigh, 950001 and long super voyager just outside Tackley

aumenarys That's great
Yes. Not loud or in tune. They are hilarious. Like a kid blowing a toy horn.

0:17 any idea what this horn was?
That's the Class 82 DVT horn, which sounds more "American" than most horns here in the UK as they have a dual-tone effect.
is there some sort of code the trains use with the 2 tone horn? It seems every driver does it differently
I think the drivers just do whatever they wish with the horn although it is known that some drivers have their own signature tones.
LOVE IT!
Thank you!
I have always wondered, why can't the British produce an air horn that loudly and proudly echoes across the land like North American air horns?
They do loudly echo. Whether or not they're proud is subjective but they're defo loud lol, they have to be

I am really keen to know where the station at 3:52 is, please can someone help me?
If you are referring to the single-track station, that is Hanborough in Oxfordshire.
@@ACETrainsUK thank you kindly 👍
When do British trains need to blow their horn and how many times?
Normally when they get to a "W" warning sign for level crossings. But they often blow their horns for train enthusiasts, depending on what the driver wants to do.

NodoSmall, at least our horns let people know a train is coming with the help of a bell. Ur horns are as quiet as a mouse.

Cheddington station on the WCML

Why Two Voices
Voices? I'm not sure what you mean
ACETrainsUK Sorry······ I mean the sound, high and low.
Oh, I don't really know, it has always been like that since the modern diesel days in the UK. All new trains in the UK also have the two voices as well so it may be required by law.
it is to ensure the horns are not confused as a car or truck
and is also required by law
Not loud and not tuned! Like an off key childs toy. But cute.....and very funny.
