- The Story Of Rush - Part One. I think this may have been on youtube in the past but now all I can find is a nine minute clip of it so I figured I'd go ahead and add the whole documentary. A lot of you may have seen it before but for those who haven't it's a real treat with lots of rare footage. It's from 2002.
My left ear enjoyed hearing about Rush. My right ear enjoyed the static fluttery sound.
Rip Neil best drummer and lyricist, a true musical genius.🙏
Currently one of my favorite youtube channels. I get totally engrossed with these guys, especially Neil, he's so brutally intellectual, I love it. Thanks for all your hard work. Rush fans really appreciate it. Cheers :)
They are kings of humble...
I came to rush by way of "Passage To Bangkok". I was just starting smoking cannabis and I loved that song. Then i bought "Exit Stage Left". After that i bought "Chronicles" then i was a big Rush fan. Three great musicians that were really good at performing their respective tasks. My second favorite band after The Ramones. I just say my favorite Canadian band is Rush.
ha, odd song to start with
I appreciate your passion that drives you to share these with other people. Thank you so much.
thanks for posting this. cant wait to watch them all!
Thanks for the upload!...I can never get enough of the Rush interviews.
thank you xxxx15us for uploading this documentary. I enjoyed it very much.
Thanx for uploading this footage... haven/t seen it before. Great stuff
"...at which time Rutsey exited..." and then he's dismissed from "The Story of Rush." I'm glad "Lighted Stage" told a little more about Rutsey's role in getting them going.
Thanks, thanks again, many many thanks.
my left ear enjoyed this
nice video, thanks for the upload(s) I'm definitely watching the rest :)
You're very welcome! As much as I love Beyond the Lighted Stage this MuchMusic doc actually has more rare footage from various tours than BTLS did. I've been going through a lot of crap lately that I won't bore people with but I promise I'll replace all my other watermarked rare Rush videos with clean copies when I can. It's annoying to me too so thanks for being patient.
Thanks! You may have already noticed but in the last few days I've started replacing all the watermarked videos on my channel with clean versions. It's slow but I'll get them all done as I can. I've also got a few more rare videos to put up and then after that I'm going to start uploading my soundboard bootlegs. Thanks for the nice comment!
Janmad,
No problem there. I'm American and the US has given the music world plenty of stiffs as well. I'd add Triumph to your list of good Canadan bands too.
Geddy is on point about the failing industry. No time to build your career up. You have to hit the ground running and if you don't garner the initial success they want, you're out. This also forces a lot of artists to conform to what the label wants. Aka. Simon Cowell and his army of shit pop stars.
Rush fans are All Right. One night we got out of concert hall and poured into the streets but No traffic jam at all!! In fact we got on freeway and those of us who lived north drove that 20 miles in less than 10 minutes! Aren't you glad less ladies are among the fans? lol ;-)
Yes the Ramones,my second best one too.A completely different band but ageless good.Though Rush remains technically almost undefeated
Funny as a die hard fan I think all the albums are great. No failures in my eyes.
agreed but also fuck your profile picture
kalle kanin oh for christ’s sake
Soundtrack of my youth
No problem, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the nice comment!
@halodemo65 It was mostly about the watermarks on some videos or what they thought were bad edits. Those came from my VHS tapes and it was a real odyssey to go through that lengthy process. Anyway, some people thought I made them that way intentionally because I didn't want others to have clean copies. Of course that's not true, that was the best I could do and I plan to replace them when I can now that I've learned more about the process. Thanks again and more is coming!
Haha! No problem, just thought it was funny. Thanks for watching!
Rush for president! RIP Neil Peart.
Hmmm. There's some sort of audio lag, let me figure it out and then I'll continue (and probably redo this clip).
@halodemo65 Thanks! It hasn't been easy. I'm not an idiot but I'm completely inexperienced with all of the editing, converting, joining, etc. and it's a pain. Before this project I'd never even put anything on youtube before. Getting the stuff from my VHS tapes has been the biggest hurdle but I'm going to keep going til I'm done. Then I'll go back and replace the ones with the watermarks. Thanks for the nice words, you should see some of the insults I've gotten about not doing a good enough job.
No problem, thanks for the comment!
Dammit the narrator keeps mispronouncing Niel's name!
I'm going to replace this video shortly, it doesn't match the quality of the other parts because of something I had done wrong.
Very sad indeed....
Ok, I think I've figured it out. I'll replace this video with a copy that's in sync soon. The second part seems to be fine.
What strikes me about the RUSH story is that it is one of Metamorphosis
and Rebirth.
They started as a capable, morphing, undefinable worm -- rough and
ready, experimental, asserting their unique style (2112) on everyone (including
the record companies), and became a beautiful, furry, exotic caterpillar!
Then personal tragedy ended the caterpillar's life as we knew it.
Curling up to self-isolate and self-protect, RUSH cocooned for five years -
silent, fighting inner demons, on personal intellectual journeys (Peart, a
modern Odysseus!).
With Vapor Trails, the cocoon bursts open (One Little Victory, Ghost
Rider!!!) -- and an astoundingly beautiful confident butterfly soars
magnificently above our human highway (The Stars Look Down, Vapor Trails,
Secret Touch!!). "There's a shadow on the road behind...there's a
shadow on the road ahead" the butterfly is headed east over a day on a
motorcycle - the wind blows away memories and demons -- we know this, we have
done this. Listen to those instruments -- fused!
I love the Vapor Trails album. I rate it even higher (based on its affect on me) than
the biggies (Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres,
2112). Mature, profoundly human, sublimely driving rock!
Well...damn glad you did anyway. 'Rush' seems to be my 'go to' band and oddly, I have never seen them live...I will not miss their next tour - as with Pink Floyd, if ya gotta do it - do it right :)
Did you ever get to see them live? They retired not too long after your post. I hope so, because everyone who loves live concerts needs to see Rush. They’re the best live band ever. I first saw them in 1980 on their Permanent Waves tour and never missed a tour since. I think the last time I saw them on the Clockwork Angels tour and it was three hours of nothing but Rush.
In fact, Rush started that since their Vapor Trails tour. No opening act. Three hours of Rush with just a short intermission. I sure hope you caught them on either the Clockwork Angels or the Rush 40 tour. I think the Rush 40 was actually the last concert my wife and I saw them. RIP to Neil. With his passing, it is for sure they will never tour as Rush again. Neil will be missed by many.
My whole channel is nothing but really rare Rush stuff, make sure to browse all the videos on my channel page and I'm sure you'll find lots more neat stuff. I'm still slowly adding things and replacing the watermarked videos. Thanks for the comment!
Omarsito. Now I know why u liked Rush so. much. sorry I didn't get intom when u were here bro now u can jam with the proffesor
Peert like "ear" and all in one syllable
There's some great footage here, and even Geddy right at the start (re: mic taped to the lamp) says "great research" but why oh why can't they pronounce Neils surname correctly???? It's "a P followed by an EAR with a T".
He knows he expects it
Idiots have no idea how to pronounce it properly
I cannot figure out a band that is so ageless and in the same time so reinventing AND renewing themselves as Rush did, even not the Rolling Stones with all respect.Has it something to do,next to the unique chemistry, with Canadian/East-European origine?Just something that comes up in my mind. The interview under the aquarium combined whith that what Geddy says is funny:"we are the real stuff the rest is swimming"
The sound on this is Horrible but I listened to the whole thing my right ear is ringing!!
You misspelled Neil's name.
Oh shoot, you're right. *smacks self in nose*
...and Brian Adams.
no sound
Well, I'm sorry. I didn't make it that way. It's the best copy I've found.
Don't forget Loverboy! LOL!
How do you not pronounce Peart's name correctly???
Bytor2112Snowdog ear with a p in front and a t at the end
While "Caress of Steel" was a commercial failure, it was by no means an artistic failure!
@xxxx15us Then they should really learn to appreciate what they have. They must be trying very hard to find something wrong with videos about Rush and the person who uploads them.
Thanks for the upload, looks fine to me, sorry to hear there's been whiners but there for the grace of God etc, I'd rather be one of us than one of them. Ta mister x
Gene Simmons takes full credit and will be sending you all a bill in the mail shortly.
All is forgiven, Rush would more than make up for even a billion Biebers!
Oh geddy, proggers would kick your ass if you weren't geddy lee hahahah
TheAnalogKid23 love the name!
