I know this is 2 years ago but I thought he played a 3 way like a 5 and found out if he split the middle with the switch he could get a different effect
I understand this guitar was the 1rst "tribute" relic'd custom shop but the job is beyond modern standards nowadays and fender should re-do it properly. It just looks horrible.
Yeah I don’t think people are actually thinking that dude 🤣🤦🏻♂️ these are expensive art pieces that you can play. If ya can’t afford it then just say that.
Problem with faking this is it just looks bad because the wear wasn't done with true playing. The wood looks dry .you would need to get that wood soaked with sweat to pull then finish off.
looks like shit ... no where near the original . Rory's had a 5-way switch too . master volume ; master tone on all 3 pickups ; the middle tone was dead .
What an absolutely awesome demo, fab playing, i bought this model a few months back and you nailed everything about it, I subscribing now - Keep up the excellent work and great playing. Thanks for sharing
I had one of these and was very unimpressed the finish felt dirty and gritty ....and the neck was large and from what I have read his was smaller ! ...and the pickups had no tone to my ears and no growl about them rorys ...were very hot middy sounding ...and he used a treble booster !!
Brent Campbell you’re the moron if you think that looks anything like Rory’s strat, They had access to the original guitar and still managed to fuck the finish up, it’s the worst relic job and the 3 way switch and pickups are wrong too!!!
That guitar looks very plain/dry and the "worn" paint looks like a decal. I like natural relics, but I don't even like Gallagher's original strat...reason it looks like shit is someone deliberately scraped off the paint (it didn't just wear off) and it was left soaking in a ditch for a couple days. Surprised Fender custom shop let this anemic copy, void of character, leave it's hands.
I agree. I'm a fan of Rory, but I still don't believe his Strat lost most of its paint just by playing. There are wild theories about his body chemistry but I don't really buy that. It had stayed outside in the rain or something. Just look at the demos of Fretted Americana or Norman's rare guitars. Notice the difference? Those original 50's or 60's Strats may have some dents but are far away from those 'heavy relics'
Utterly pointless. I saw Rory numerous times...early on he used an A.C. 30 and later using a trashed Fender Twin. He would have laughed at the notion of amp switching. As for the guitar...he could have played a plank of wood strung with barbed wire and still sound better than anyone on earth. Save your money, get a standard Strat or Tele and make your own sound!
Yeah! Do they give you a used checked shirt with pre-sweated armpits with it, just make the real deal? BTW, in January I went to the big city looking for a second-hand Strat. I found one where the action was a bit high, so I looked at the bridge and it was covered in gunk. On asking the salesman for the price, since I'd have to do a lot of work on it, he told me it was a Fender Custom Shop and it cost about a zillion grotniks. Did I feel like a fool? No! I just laughed my arse off! (Totally true story)
Worlds worst build.🤬Has an optional switch? It’s a bummer. Not the same as RORYS. It’s an INSULT FENDER to the GREATEST. I HAVE PLAYED ONE by the way.... 🎸💚👑💞☘️🤬🤬🤬🤬
Didn't Rory put a 5 way in his Strat??
If you're gonna relic a guitar like his, why not follow the electronic specs??
I know this is 2 years ago but I thought he played a 3 way like a 5 and found out if he split the middle with the switch he could get a different effect
@@tyman289 He did eventually change the toggle switch to a 5-way switch.
No, he used a 3 way originally. But I would definitely recommend putting a 5 way inside, which can be done easily.
I understand this guitar was the 1rst "tribute" relic'd custom shop but the job is beyond modern standards nowadays and fender should re-do it properly. It just looks horrible.
Some magic with this one .. good demo 👍🏻
Reliced custom shop guitars for 3-5 k,so the buyers can think they've been on tour since the 70's
So fucking sad

The wood looks dry

I think out of all signature guitars this is the one with the badest relic job because it just looks so fake and not even close to the original one
looks like shit ... no where near the original . Rory's had a 5-way switch too . master volume ; master tone on all 3 pickups ; the middle tone was dead .
Tremolo bar ????
And is the wiering corect so there is only one master tone control?
What an absolutely awesome demo, fab playing, i bought this model a few months back and you nailed everything about it, I subscribing now - Keep up the excellent work and great playing. Thanks for sharing
I hope you haven't spilled any Pepsi on it. Hate to ruin such a fine-looking guitar. (Ahem!)
itsonlyrocknroll22 Do you still have the guitar? Is it much better than other custom shops? Thank you!
Are all potis Active?
I had one of these and was very unimpressed the finish felt dirty and gritty ....and the neck was large and from what I have read his was smaller ! ...and the pickups had no tone to my ears and no growl about them rorys ...were very hot middy sounding ...and he used a treble booster !!
what is very evident is this guy is a fine player but he has no idea what Rory Sounded like apparently !!
Jesus ... they even included the dent in the jack receptacle ...
i an never help but think fenders relicing looks off, its the drastic edge between sunburst and bare wood it doesnt look genuine
Hi, what microphone are you using to record the guitar? Thanks
Hey there, we were using a Shure SM57 on the amp which is what we use for most of our electric guitar videos.
2.57 is he seriously trying to tell us the guitar sounds better cus its relic'd
But Rory used a five-way switch..
like seriously this doesn't even look closely to the original. this piece of shit is way to expensiv for the amount of dedication it conceives.
custom shop's a fool for makin this...
That really is a bad finish shocking that fender would let this go out!!!
Either that is sarcasm or you're a complete moron...
Brent Campbell you’re the moron if you think that looks anything like Rory’s strat, They had access to the original guitar and still managed to fuck the finish up, it’s the worst relic job and the 3 way switch and pickups are wrong too!!!
Durrrrrrrr its a replica dumb dumb. Go eat some creatine and work on your forearms jackass
Brent Campbell ok keyboard warrior!!!🖕🏼
No keyboard warrior here you fatass wannabe
Thank fuck it's a nitro finish lol!
You will never Sound like Rory
Died in early 1995. Not late 1995...
Lol it was 14 June, not a lot in it.
The soloing over the chords just sound weird and don't fit.. And what's with the excessive delay? It's just annoying to listen to..

Nice guitar but awfull relicing job . I would sand it all off
I got one. 2004. Very nice guitar, but this one, on the video, is AWFUL..!!
Relic'd guitars are for saddos.
...especially this guitar.
Yeah! Do they give you a used checked shirt with pre-sweated armpits with it, just make the real deal?

Ndlanding word!
Rory himself didn't think much of relicing guitars.
Looks deliberately aged.

Expensive gimmick guitar. Fake road wear. Done in a room.
