The hottest comic in America, Sebastian Maniscalco joins forces with legendary Italian-American and two-time Oscar® winner, Robert De Niro (Best Actor, Raging Bull, 1980), in the new comedy ABOUT MY FATHER. The film centers around Sebastian (Maniscalco) who is encouraged by his fiancée (Leslie Bibb) to bring his immigrant, hairdresser father, Salvo (De Niro), to a weekend get-together with her super-rich and exceedingly eccentric family (Kim Cattrall, Anders Holm, Brett Dier, David Rasche). The weekend develops into what can only be described as a culture clash, leaving Sebastian and Salvo to discover that the great thing about family is everything about family.

I don't think I've ever seen that before where a person has openly shown emotion like that in an interview. That comes from the upbringing... humility from your Dad. In that moment, the feeling of gratitude to the universe.

A love between a father and son is something difficult to describe to someone who has never had it. But to those who have you feel exactly what Sebastian was feeling.

I literally just saw this movie today. It is so funny & very touching. The entire cast & their whacky characters are fantastic! That scene he talks about having to cry on cue made me tear up in the theater, as did the end of this interview where he got choked up talking about both men who had such a powerful influence on him.
I met Sebastian briefly after a stand up show when he performed at a small comedy club in my town about 15+ yrs ago. He is so personable & down to Earth. It's no wonder I've been a fan of his since his early stand up days before he rocketed into super stardom.

When I saw the preview for this movie, I almost jumped off my seat! My absolute favorite comedian ever! This is a must see movie!!!!
Nothing hotter than a guy who loves and appreciates his family so much that he can shed a tear reflecting over their time together.
I don't think i could love Sebastian more than I do after watching his vulnerability in this interview. He is blessed and he knows it, which is a blessing to us all.
I'm a humongous Sebastian fan!! He's so funny, I love his comedy style so much! I'm a fan of his friends i.e., Pete and his Dad and sister and Momma and Lana and the kids and The Cast! I'm 28 and having been adopted into an Italian Family on my Mother's Side I can personally tell, Family is Everything.
Despite there being situations where one trys to do everything him or herself, everyone's there for each other no matter what and will go out of their way to make sure you're loved and taken care of.

Amazing! my favorite comedian is not only hilarious but he’s so humble and has managed to slow down enough to appreciate how blessed he is. I love to see that. Just saw him last week at the casino. His performance was incredible

I'm not familiar with Maniscalco's work but this interview made me like him a lot and I'm happy he got to make a movie about his dad.
Just search UA-cam for any of his old stand up comedy routines. I think Netflix also has a few of his full shows. I've been a fan of his since his early stand up days, over 20 years ago now. I met him briefly after one of those shows - really nice guy!

In spite of Robert Deniro, I will see this movie because I absolutely adore Sebastian Maniscalco and his father.
The Italians have always brought some love and great food to the world, including Ireland, many Italians in Dublin, they’re great people. Some of my ancestors were Maltese Italians, Georgio Azzopardi and Carmela Falzon ♥️ 🇮🇹🍕
I grew up in an Italian neighborhood. All my bff''s were Italian. That makes me part Italian.

Scorcese once told " De Niro is so in to his character, that during Goodfellas, the scene where they go for night dinner at pesci s mom(scorcese mother in real life) that he wanted to know how James Conway, added his ketchup, did he rolled the bottle or hit the back..things like that" and imagine he would hit the back of the bottle, it would have looked clumbsy and not in control.

LOVE Sebastian's comedic talent, and DeNiro is simply legendary. Saw the movie, it was just okay, did not do justice for either of them. It was like a cheesier version of "Meet the Fockers". Only had a handful of funny moments. The ending was heartfelt though.

Love Sebastian's comedy and acting. He is very humble, honest and down to earth also. Something that Deniro is not.
IMO, Al Pacino or even Dustin Hoffman would have been the best fit as Sebastian's dad in the movie (would've definitely watched the movie then).
Al Pacino and Hoffman are several levels above De Niro in terms of acting..plus they are cool. I never liked De Niro, he is a lunatic and a creepy dude.
From where I come from (Kerala, India), we have got so many great veteran actors who can easily upstage and outclass someone like Deniro. But Al Pacino and Hoffman are a rarity, not at all easy to find an actor like that anywhere that is equivalent to their caliber. That's why I like watching their films. Al Pacino is my fav actor though, his acting is absolutely great and he is a very good gentleman. Not a prick like Deniro. Even with acting, deniro has just that annoyed irritated grumpy kinda face all the time, for any situation. And it only got worse as years went by.

Having to cry on cue cannot be easy with an entire cast cameras and crew watching you. I think the only way I could do it is if they put a kid's toy on the floor and I stepped on it like in the middle of the night.
Unlike most of these people watching this I've followed Sebastian's career since the beginning and I'm so proud of you buddy. Really try to soak in your success I know you're always looking at the next thing the next thing the next thing that's not healthy enjoy your family look up at the sky and the stars at night and really thank God because he is the very breath in your lungs.
Why is Gail still sounding like Oprah screaming out words with too much emphasis. Crazy
Robert DeNiro is strangely awkward, a genius of an actor who always looks so uncomfortable whenever people gush over him. I've noticed it in every interview with him. Verbally, he always sounds so gracious but in his face he looks pissed. Not sure what he'd prefer to talk about when people interview him about his movies. Maybe the subject of the film or more likely he'd prefer not to do these interviews at all.
