    What’s the grading process for vintage? What should I look for? I have a lot of good vintage cards, don’t know what they look for in terms of grading

    • @IntropyDR
      @IntropyDR  2 місяці тому

      Id say the most important thing about vintage grading is to predict what the grade will be. With vintage you have to be more harsher on what you think the grade will be because condition is the biggest factor. I'd highly recommend looking into what recent comps of the predicted grade will be to see if it's worth grading or not.

    Is PSA more strict on vintage lately?

    • @IntropyDR
      @IntropyDR  2 місяці тому +1

      I feel they've always been strict on vintage, it's just becomes more apparent when you submit mostly vintage.

    Trying to get into sourcing vintage cards for grading. It would be great if you could include cost, PSA value after grading and where you sourced it. That might be too much information though... thank you

      All the cards we buy for grading should be recorded in previous/upcoming videos as we've either bought them at a show or in a deal. However, by the time we send the cards off to grading, the cost of the cards have already been recouped. In general keeping track of what we bought on an individual card could be extremely hard given the fact we buy thousands of cards nearly every week.
      A cards value after grading is also hard to state since pricing can fluctuate over time and we try to keep our content evergreen, what we value it today may not be the same in a month, or a year - so we try to avoid placing a price tag on a card unless we've already sold the card.

      How much bulk would I need to send to you for that 96 Japanese Charizard PSA 7?

      The Japanese Charizard sold for $250 this morning on our ebay store.

    What would you say the breakpoint is where getting the PSA subscription is worth it? I have ~35 cards I wanna grade but not sure what the most economical route would be (I don't really plan on grading any more this year).

    • @IntropyDR
      @IntropyDR  2 місяці тому +1

      The normal grading fee for a TCG card is about $25. With a Collector's Club PSA Subscription, you can send cards in TCG cards for $15, sometimes even $13 during monthly specials (like this month!). When comparing just the normal rates, after the 10th card sent, it makes more sense to go with the PSA yearly sub as you're already saving money even with the subscription fee included.
      In your specific example (excluding applicable shipping costs): $875 fees with no sub -VS- $625 fees including the yearly sub ! Hope this information helps! The numbers don't lie.

      @@IntropyDR Thanks so much! Plus if I change my mind and want to send even more later I'll already have the pipeline in place (because I was thinking about grading through someone for $19 each but at that point it would basically break even with just getting the plan myself).

      The Unlimited Rocket's Mewtwo PSA 8 has not been sold. We still have a good amount of slabs that aren't posted up on our Ebay store. They should be up very late tonight/early morning tomorro!

    Did you just send in all your vintage holos? this can't be profitable can it?

    • @IntropyDR
      @IntropyDR  2 місяці тому +1

      The cards in this submission are all the cards we went out and purchased in order to grade. If grading wasn't worthwhile as a business, we wouldn't be doing it.

    • @ImTheImmortalGod

      Honestly I would agree, there is no way these low grades are profitable. I guess if you get them cheap enough anything can be profitable. But if I purchased a majority of these I wouldn't see any profit margin in slabs here.... Maybe the graders were super harsh? Or it was a hail Mary to catch PSA slacking and give some undeserving 10s.

      I think it varies, and maybe there is more factors at play than what we know of, but just looking at the 1st ed Gengar, MP sells for 100...and a PSA 5 sells for roughly 110-140. So if he sells at a show for 120. Then he profited more than if he listed it at 100, and took an offer at 90 or 85. So it makes sense in that way, and if it happened to get a psa 6. He's even more likely to get closer to the $140 mark. Some of the cards I don't get it, but assuming he does this for a living it must make sense.

      The information that you are missing is the cost that we paid for the cards before we sent to grading. A lot of vendors, and frankly even local game stores will heavily discount damaged vintage cards because there's a not a ton of demand for damaged raw cards. As I've said many times before, as a business, if grading cards weren't profitable, we would not be doing it!
