  • I thought this might be helpful for those do it yourselfers who run into this issue. Save you some time.
1 1/4 " compression fitting available at your local hardware store, or plumbing supply shop. Ironically one plumbing supply shop when I told him what I was trying to do said he had no idea about connecting with Ikea plumbing. That's what prompted me to do this video. It's such a simple solution.

Great vid but have you got your sizes mixed up? I thought the white IKEA tube is 1 1/4" and the Black ABS is 1 1/2" That's why the white tube is smaller . Or am I wrong..

That adapter can do 1 /12 or 1 1/4. . The orange washer that he throw away is for 1 /12 “ ..

What is the brand of the adapter? I'd like to be able to locate one online. Also, the horizontal piece from the sink drain to the down pipe is adjustable -- but how do you seal the joint once everything is installed? I know from experience that the joint will leak if water backs up to the level of the sink drain hole... Thank you!

The adapter is a standard at any hardware store in Canada. I don't know the brand, but it is the size I listed in the video. The adjustable Ikea drain seals inside, I think it had a rubber seal on the inside, but I actually don't remember now. It is certified for use in Canada so it should meet any code requirements. The adapter was the hard part, as Ikea had no idea what I needed. They said to consult a plumber. That's why I made the 3 videos. No issues after two summers of use. I installed two in two different bathrooms.

@@bobbysplace634 Thanks, I was able to glean a little info from replaying the video. We made the mistake of buying a 48-inch Godmorgen sink from the "as-is" area at our IKEA store, without having any prior experience with their plumbing. Got home and realized the overflow parts were missing (or nonexistent). It's been 3 years since I hooked up the sink to a cheap flexi adapter that does the same job as yours but is basically a clog magnet, so I'm ready to replace it!

You can’t see the important part. Can you re film this and let none of the important plumbing parts go out of the frame, please? Maybe someone else can hold the camera.
