I miss the RPG like way you could build settlements in rome 2 and medieval 2, one city could make just knights, on city could be a trading hub, and one city could be a degenerate brothal city with assasins./ thieves guilds.
34:00 Yeah, I've the "Man the Walls" command has always been broken: The unit won't spread out to efficiently fill the space, and they will default to walking speed. I've found the best workaround to be click-dragging the unit into roughly the shape (rank-by-file) that would fill the space on the wall and using that to redeploy them at a run; then, once they're virtually all in position, click the wall to have them take up position and--once they start moving--toggle their movement speed to "Run".
I'm glad you discovered Kihetai. They are some boss-ass troops! I will always prefer them over line infantry whenever possible. Give them kneel fire and they're unstoppable.
he says at 29:20 that he only had one turn to prepare. However, the turn before last they were already on his border. The chance to reinforce was there but it was missed.
Fifty eight people would be "go juu hachi ri." The Gujohachimam would be the faction/clan based out of the Gujohachiman castle not too far southwest of Tokyo.
This Is one of the main reasons I watch your videos, Your play style is fairly similar to mine. I used the same approach with satsuma back when I had a PC. They start of with a blacksmith so I made that my main center of recruitment and my foreign port and artillery school was there as well. Built up the smith to weaponsmith so all my line infantry and foreign units had gold accuracy, Built up my 5 province's to have great income and stayed out of wars, no allies. had a defensive army for my lands and had good deficiencies at my cities. When I was ready for conquest there was just no stopping me. Granted satsuma is an easy faction, I was on legendary. It truly pays being patient and building up.
Satsuma left the imperil cause because you hadn't established alliances among the big imperial clans. This is usually a very important phase of imperial campaigns, otherwise if the Kyushu clans aren't allied one of them will abandon imperial cause because they can't immediately expand. Many things can cause ai to switch allegiance, usually based around lacking support from other clans of their allegiance, not being able to expand, or being on the brink of destruction. If you'd allied then satsuma would begin naval invasions, usually starting on Shikoku if those clans haven't been brought into the alliance pact yet
I wonder if, in an earlier battle, your General was running in the wrong direction because the enemy unit had split in half when it shattered, with some men running "north" and some running "south", and whenever you ordered your General to attack he wanted to attack whichever individual soldier was "highest in priority" by the game's logic--which always happened to be across the map. (I've seen that happen a fair bit in Rome II.)
I started to absolutely love them. When I first looked at their stats I thought, "they are horrible, no way I will use them". And then when only 1 regiment was able to almost destroy the Kihetai, when no other cav was able to.....
The ironclad is good. It’s very very good. But yeah, it’s expensive and naval battles get a bit tedious after a while since the ai just keep throwing ships at you and auto resolve bones you hard...
Satsuma or Chosokabe. they both started on island, mean you got time to prepare defense if you got naval invaded. Satsuma got better elite sword infantry while chosokabe get better archers.
@@MrUrgnot Jozai are not bad too with thier, replenishment in foreign terretory, although you might not use it that much, they also have one of best units in the game, imho, with their yugeketai(superior snipers), which they can double the amount as other clans can support thier limited special troops. Also you are close to Edo, one of the main target for domination
Just so cowardly. Im curoius you mentioned in the first episode that you did do a shogunate play through, did you stay pure or did you research westerners tech?
No effence but your battle tactics are really poor. In the last battle you did you really wasted units by allowing your left to get flanked so easily. Also positioning your infantry in a single line in colloum formation isn't effectively utilising to full firepower of the unit. Forming two lines in a 3-deep line formation would make it so you have the same firepower as well as a back up line that you can use to outflank your enemy. Sorry if this sounds dickish I just hope this helps.
@Qowkdjnd Xiwjsjd I agree but it wasn't nessacary to take the losses to the overall army. The losses mean that he'd have to take more turns to replenish his troops so it effects the overall campain.

But he said he wouldn't build a navy, so :D

*imperial oops
I’ve found it’s more about if you aren’t in war for x turns, the game creates war for you.
This makes historical sense. Satsuma and Chosu aliance was the backbone of the imperialist.

I really hope you use revolver cavalry in this series. I know they are micro heavy, but, I love seeing them.

i tried doing a republic campaign, but it was so difficult that time ran out. both sides go after you if you do.
I have the same issues with units not doing what I tell them to do in sieges. It is absolutly infuriating

Shogun - Shimazu / Chosokabe are nice easy starts
Fall of the Samuria - Shimazu again is a nice start

@@wolfsruhm one word; Saga. You get a parrott gun straight off the bat which does so much damage and you can get armstrong guns fairly quickly.
Quick question, why do ancient Japanese people build walls with an angle?
Mainly because their fortresses were built on hills. But also to protect the constructions from earthquakes.
How often are you going to make new episodes?
Nice
