I remember when I was seven and I lived in Doncaster. I hated what Dr Beeching did to my favorite type of engine the A4 Pacific. Designed by Sir Nigel gresley. I was a young railway enthusiast taking photos near the Doncaster terminus on the platform, when all of a sudden, for the first time in my life, I heard a horn and then suddenly this pilchard tin on wheels came spluttering and coughing into the station. And I knew the sound very well. It was a diesel. A metrovick type 2 to be exact. They never had a long life on British railways due to their faulty engines, but one is preserved in the national collection. This became the inspiration for a character in The railway series books called BoCo, number d5702. Who became one of the fat controllers engines or as you call him over there in the states, Sir topham hatt.

I wanted to go to my neighbors' house bc I was so bored, but it was raining. I prayed to god (I'm Catholic (same god as Christians) and it was still raining. But the moment I stepped outside, BAM, the rain had gone. I went to my neighbors' house and when I was just in their house, the rain started again. Then I said ty to God and my heart started tingling.
