I have a button linked to a simple macro which steps through each page in the active workbook, returns the zoom level to 100% and the cursor/ active cell to the top left cell and finishes with the active sheet being the first sheet in the book and the cursor/active cell as A1. It really useful to leave a workbook tidy for someone else to pick up.

    1. Freeze panes
    2. Filter Toggle
    3. Format Painter
    4. Sort Asc
    5. Sort Desc
    6. Auto Sum
    7. Borders
    8. Page Set Up
    9. Print Preview (new)
    Thank you for this video.
I like the idea for adding the Dollar Sign.
Adding Dollar Sign & Power Query shortcuts today.
I also added Draw Horizontal Text Box because I usually copy & paste a user's exact request from an email onto a sheet in the workbook. CYA.

Sorry ... my QAT is a bit boring. It is limited to the 'basics', i.e. Save, Undo, File Open, Print Preview etc. But no surprise, you have once again provided me with several ideas. As usual, I will re-watch again ... and again ... to better understand the possibilities (and accompanied with another cup of coffee ... and a few Christmas cookies ... )
FYI ... my only internal rule is the QAT must always be located BELOW the Tool Bar.
    PS
at the 12:25 mark "... Thank you for being here ... ".
HA! ... I think that is MY comment to YOU! Your videos are a standing calendar-date first thing every Thursday morning. Wishing you the best for 2022.

Few QAT items that i found useful are: 1. Trace Dependents; 2. Decrease decimals; 3. Auto Filter. Out of these, Auto Filter is my favourite, because it automatically applies filter on the item where the cursor is, with only a click of a button.

I’m a BIG fan of the QAT. I pronounce it “CAT” since there is no “u” after the “q”.
And if you put the QAT below the ribbon you not only get color icons, you also have a lot more real estate to put icons on it.
It’s a long walk from left to right, that is why in that configuration I call it the QAT walk. Easy to pronounce, easy to remember.
My QAT walk is completely filled from left to right, I regularly clean up if I want to add a new favourite button, because I need to see all my buttons on the QAT at one glance (otherwise you forget about it anyway). As you know the first 9 positions on the QAT are hotkey positions, so care needs to be taken in determining which buttons to put there. Here is my top 3: “Launch Power Query Editor” (ALT+1), “Launch Power Pivot Editor” (ALT+2), “Paste Values [only]” (ALT+3).
Users don’t like having to remember shortcuts, but pressing a button on the QAT is a-OK.

I mostly use keyboard shortcuts, but have found that the QAT is a great way to pin four useful macros for fast access: 1 split text into columns by comma, 2 split text into columns by semicolon, 3 switch off system separators (which for me means use the English decimal point), and 4 switch to system separators (which for me is decimal comma). This means I can paste a csv from any external txt source and pivot the numbers in no time.

Leila, as always, it was a video with very useful information. Congratulations.
What I can add, in addition to this information, is that it is very useful to use our own customizations only for this workbook or for all workbooks option in the quick access bar we created. This prevents other users using Excel from seeing the confusing shortcut commands when they open the same workbook.
In addition, it is very tempting to add an import/export option to the quick access options that these shortcuts can be exported from excel, saved to the computer and saved as an add-on to other applications of the office program.

Hi Leila, thanks for this. My QAT looks a lot like yours, with the Camera and Calculator. My first two buttons are "Open" and "Close All". To open the pre 2007 "Save As" screen I use F12. As I am full of static electricity, I am using a separate wireless keyboard and mouse, so my function keys work independently as they should, without having to use the fn key as well. I have also created my own ribbon called "My Buttons". As it contains nearly all the buttons I use most of the time, I keep it open while using my computer. It contains all the buttons on my QAT, except the "Speak On Enter" button. It has the following additional buttons - Switch Windows, All Borders, Zoom To Selection, Hide Columns, Unhide Columns, Form, Screen Clipping, Clear, Paste Values and a few more I find useful when creating Exercises for my training sessions. Most other times I use keyboard shortcuts whenever I can. I just love my shortcuts, must be because I got my first computer about seven years before the mouse for Windows was born and we had to learn the shortcuts.

I have had Save As on my QAT for Excel and Word for years, so I can more quickly select the folder in which I want to save a file. By the way, not only do I add that command from More Commands > All Commands as she describes at 9:47, but I also get to it very quickly once I'm looking at the list by typing the first letter S that brings me to the S section of the list. That also works in File Explorer for finding files.

Two buttons I have found to be invaluable are Clear All and Clear Formats. Other ones I use all the time are the four Insert / Delete Columns and Rows, the four Insert / Delete Table Columns and Table Rows. The Refresh and Refresh All ones are useful for PQ. I also like the button called 100%, which zooms things back to 100% without having to dick around with the slider thing.

Thanks for some great tips. Hoping that you will cover the Powerpoint and Word QATs as well soon. I still miss the feature in Excel 2003 and earlier that let you design your own buttons though. I find it useful to have single click new file, open, save, save as and file close on the left. Like you the various paste values and formula options, but also all the row and column insert and delete operations and cell borders options. Filter apply and clear is useful, and when adding features in the spreadsheet to access VBA, design mode and control properties are handy. The symbol button for inserting special characters (degree signs etc.) is also useful for technical work and adding foreign language accented letters without changing keyboards.

@Leila a tip for you: I haven't come across a keyboard which did not offer to change the functional keys to F keys - usually it is either an option in the keyboard software or in the computer bios (laptops usually)
also the calculator tip - as excel is not the only software we are using and calculator can be really handy I just learned to type Win+R and then "calc" ENTER

Two that I use quite a bit are Clear All Filters and Refresh All. I have just changed my print preview to the full screen version. Thanks for that hint.

I have all the insert and delete functions for rows, columns, and cells and the subscript/superscript format buttons and name manager along with ordinary stuff on my QAT.

Great video! Organizing with a separator... Had no idea that was available. RE: the F4/function keys challenge... I know I couldn't "function" without my function keys being easily accessible. I discovered my Logitech keyboards have software that swaps the Function Keys default behavior so the primary use becomes secondary and F1-F12 becomes primary (i.e., no Fn + F4 business). Huge feature for me.

Currently I got a lot of the printing options there. I also have show gridlines, Insert Worksheet, autoformat, switch window and form. It can change depending on what I'm working on. Another thing I do is have a customised ribbon. Between that, QAT and a few keyboard shortcuts, I'm all set.

Hi Leila! This is my work account. On my personal account, I have watched you for YEARS!! My manager brought you up one day, or actually, she was describing your channel and I said, "OMG you watch Leila also!?!" I knew then I was in the right place, lol. This was an EXCELLENT video and I actually have taken your advice and added quite a few that you have, so thank you for that. I really need your help with something. I NEVER EVER use online excel, but my team does. No one else uses the desktop version which kills me. I cannot find the quick access toolbar for online Excel 365. Is it a myth or does it exist?? When you search in the online version, it doesn't even have the QAT in its engine! Please help me! How can I get it or can I at all?? Thank you for everything you do!!!

My favorite QAT is erase filter, because I can have a visual cue of my data with any filter on. I can erase easily if I need to.
