Does anyone know why my Lane number 2 just quit working on the track where you plug in your power and the controllers luckily I had a spare and it works but what would make one lane just stopped working?
Hey CaveMan I'm looking to upgrade my Carrera 1/43 track with an aftermarket power source as the voltage drop is too great. I think the stock power pack is 14.8V at 0.7A What would you recommend?
I wonder if the Artin cars are heavier, which could easily increase the current draw, compared to a similar but lighter car. . . Time to bust out the scale !

Carrera controllers start smelling while powering Artin cars in less than a minute of use... they are "not" heavy enough to endure continuous .50 amps of use using the stock power cube. The motor in Artin is the problem and needs changed to the lower current...it is sales ploy for cars to have different current motors, and can't be cross used on each others track.
Hey Michael I believe what you are saying, going to do a test to verify. But comments like yours do help me learn. If there was a motor that could be fitted into the older cars I would jump right on that, so far not found any, thanks for your input. Caveman
I think your videos are enlightening. I'm think after repairing an Artin controller, and seeing the coiled wire inside used as a rheostat, they might work for both. One could install a double poll double throw toggle that could switch in or out those 2 resistors powering either Carrera or Artin. If I get some time in the next few weeks I will try to wire a test and let you know. Thanks, Mike

What about using a Parma controller on a Carrera track with a artin slot car
