This reminds me of a riding lesson I had during my holidays a few months back. Before my instructor even put me on the horse, I had to stay on the ground and lead it around without a lead rope or any tools. I think riding would be a lot kinder if everyone had to spend at least five minutes such walking or standing around with their horse before a lesson.
This is fascinating. I train dogs, found this video by accident and am mesmerized at the similarities of training methods I use with dogs and what you are using with horses. Beautiful work that you do!!!
My horse Carl (who's in heaven now ❤) had a major attitude problem. When I was riding him, for the first few months whenever he touched grass, he would take off, (me clinging on like a frightened limpet). Being faced with selling him, I realised I just loved him, spiky as he was. So I simply decided to walk him everywhere, avoid grass or any opportunity to take off again. We honestly did that for a whole year. We just walked everywhere. One day we came to a short grass verge, and I decided to ask for a canter. I could feel how surprised he was! He never tried to take off again. I just realised that someone had found he was a speed demon (he was bloody fast!) and that's all they'd made him do. We were together from him being 9, to 34. I rode him till he was 30. What a boy 💗
her not being afraid is key - the horse telepathically and energetically will immediately feel that in the person engaging them. All these problem horses online! I have had seven horses over the years and I never had a horse who would not listen to me and who was not kind and patient. All these horses were outside most of their lives. Winter included. They lived with other horses. They loved to be ridden because they got to go places and do interesting things. They loved to come back home, nicely tired and have a good roll and a rest. They loved attention, they did their best to accomplish what I asked them to do. All this business with control problems and frustrated horses is something I had little contact with. It seems so unnecessary to me. All my horses were good friends to me.
Ok UA-cam algorithm. You got me again. I’ve never had any interest in horses or training them but here I am caught in an hours long marathon of watching this amazing lady help this wonderful creature to learn. ☺️
I am in tears right now. I gave up on horse riding although it was my passion. If only I had this channel ten years ago. I lost my mare I wish I could have ridden her one more time... I gave up too soon.
This was great and I like how realistic it was. The horse didn't always comply, it took some time. Not like some miracle videos where within 10 minutes the horse goes from wild to completely bomb-proof doing exactly what it's asked. Really great, and she explains her approach very simply so we can understand the ideas behind it.
Many trainers here trolling all the horse videos to instill a fear of learning trying to keep information from being spread. Notice they never have an active channel with videos to help people learn.
Same principle that John Lyons used in his Round Pen Reasoning, although John pushed the situation to get the horse liking to be in his company. I understand completely what she is doing here: Changing the herd dynamics for this horse, establishing herself as the alpha horse, creating respect. I would suspect that this mare got this way because of unqualified people handling her.
This woman told the horse that SHE is pack leader which is what the horse wanted, to find a leader so she'll feel safe. At the beginning of another video the trainer explained it: Horses are pack animals, they need a leader.
round pen removes all options from the horse. the horse is actually forced to 'submit' , the only option, it cannot make any other choice in a round pen. the horse is prey, the male human is a predator with an agenda. prey animals when 'caught' are submitted to the predator, the nervous system 'fr, eezes' before being killed. it's the way of nature.
This trainer is amazing. Such respect for the horse and it is so wonderful to see a horse being riden without a bit. Have always hated bits as the horse always seems so uncomfortable. The owner is going to be wonderful as she wants her horse to be happy!

I absolutely LOVE and respect this woman for determining horse behavior and being able to talk to them and understand them like she does. Mia, I am your new biggest fan! Keep up the great work, please!
the real Satan Ok but I feel like she‘s not giving the horse any other option to just follow her. U see in the beginning how shes not letting the horse get anywhere and just stand by the corner. The horse thinks now „what do u want u just getting me in the corner I have no choice to follow u because ur not letting me getting away“ so the horse doesnt really choose to follow her out of respect (u can see this by her getting away as soon as the trainer asked her to back up). She did it because she didnt have a choice. I mean in the end it worked yes but I dont really think they communicated. She just teched the horse that she doesnt have another chance.
I love watching Mia, she is so brave and comfortable with horses. I rewatch her so that I can get that same feeling of confidence and easy going feeling with my horse. Just having that overall feeling with horses has been awesome for my horse.
I love how she includes the not so pretty parts of training, like when she's getting drug around the arena. Training is not all nice and pretty, I'm always suspicious of those videos where it just magically works for the trainers...
The owner ( and the previous owners) had many years to educate the horse and they did not succeed while Mia is fixing it in 2 days. Just so wonderful of her.
Beate Mueller it’s possible that this mare is being ridden incorrectly, but she looks like a saddlebred to me, and they have naturally high set necks that come up from the tops of their shoulders.
Mia knows her shit and that is completely obvious here! Love her knowledge and the way she works with this beautiful beast! I could listen to her talk for hours!
Voracious Reader no because the horse will have respect for the trainer but not the rider if that rider does even the slightest thing different there went everything she was taught
Mia Truly appears to be an OLD Soul and beyond her years on this Earth. Something very natural & calming about her presence with the horses. Im older now and have become fearful of Horses after several bad situations as a child, but wish I had someone like her to train me and also show me how to train the horse.
Wow! Well done. My grandfather and I used to tame wild horses when I was a kid and he was still alive. A lot of the time, we would work them in a pool so we could have better control due to the water resistance and buoyancy. Then, once they would learn to trust us to let me (around 10 or 11 years old) on their back and allowed a bridle to be put on, we would move from the pool into the training barn to work on trust and saddle. We only ever had one old stallion that never got past the pool. We could lead him in but, as soon as ANYONE got in with him, he would lash out, biting and kicking. We tried just moving onto barn training but he wasn't having that, either. After nearly a month and 2 ranch hands being bit or kicked, Grandpa let him go back to his herd. He looked just like this mare!
I love this girl. Most people over think it and don't pay enough attention. Some horses simply need more time. Patience and kindness always brings them around. You never need to man handle or be cruel in any way. I've worked with and rescued many hard cases off the track. they always come around with patience.
Amazing horse trainer one of the best I've seen, you get the horses to do what you want without being cruel and without the use of Hardwick's and ropes like many others do. I think you're an amazing person I've watched a lot of your videos and you always get good results without being cruel😀
This brings me to tears. To see this interaction between a horse who feels she's never been heard and a trainer that knows how to fix this. And then to watch her owner do the same things and the horse gets it right away and this is because she see immediately that her owner now gets it through this process. And its such a WIN WIN for everyone around her. And especially for this beautiful horse with a HUGE SPIRIT. You both did REALLY GOOD WORK for the heavens and the horses of our world today. Thank You!!! and BLESS YOU ALL!!!
It's crazy to see how much that horse wants to please. When the trainer clicks she listens, when she steers while riding, the horse listens. She just needs strong leadership.
So I had a grey mare with a similar attitude to this one. Very dominant towards people and other horses after learning from a young age (with a previous owner) that she could be that way. I took a very similar approach as this because the mare was downright dangerous. She was very aggressive in the stable and just had no respect for anybody so taking a really gentle, relaxed approach just didn't work. I couldn't even put a haynet up in the stable without her being aggressive and trying to bite or kick. This approach was very successful for the mare, however, it actually taught her to respect the whip rather than humans. So whilst I was now able to do a lot more with her, she often reverted back to her old ways every now and again to see if she could get away with it. I often had to stand the whip against the wall in the doorway of the stable in order for her to then respect me. May I just say that I never once hit her with the lunge whip. She was one hard piece of work, but when she finally understood that she could not get away with her behaviour anymore, she actually turned out to be a very sweet and loving mare (with the occasional attitude problem). Its a good way of dealing with a dominant mare, but please be careful and wear your hat etc. I think back to the risks that I took at the time and really wonder how I was not seriously hurt in many situations! My hat saved me from a kick to the face, don't underestimate them!
I love this instruction movie! This is definitely something you WON'T learn when "simply" ride each saturday a different horse at a manege.. It's about trust and teamwork. Great job!
You cannot force a horse to do anything, Mia's approach shows this. A facinating watch. With kindness and firmness she had this powerful mare to trust her in 2 days. Today many so called trainers no nothing, more Mia's are needed within the horse world.
Wow Im impressed. I have a young 4 yr old horse and he has been in training for 5 months. He has not improved enough for me, a beginner, to ride him. I wish you were my trainer. I will continue to watch your videos.
When the young girl started working with this mare you could feel and see a change in the horses demeanor....she softened, lowered her head and followed her immediately...like an apology but she still loves the girl......I really like to watch you work with the horses.... you approach with a very knowledgeable horse mind.....love it! Wish you had more videos.

Alright, I'm in the comment section and I see people are praising her for not using a bit and seeing people say "BITS ARE FULL ABUSE" Now here's the thing: Bits are a way to control your horse as well as bit-less bridles. Bit-less is a good alternative for bits if your horse is misbehaving, doesn't like it, and or has had bad experiences with bits. Now here's some information that's going to shock you as well: Bit-less bridles are also abusive! It's true! Bits and Bit-less bridles can both be abusive if used in the wrong way! The same thing with chest-plates, spurs, crops (whips), draw reigns, and sometimes bareback ropes! Now the woman in this video is doing her job and she's really good at it and knows how to implant dominance in a non-abusive way but there are some trainers who take their resources and abuse their horses with it. So basically what I'm saying is that bits and bit-less bridles are good for your horse but can be abusive if used in the wrong way!
"If you can't control your horse the bit won't help you anyway, it's just going to create pain." THIS 🙏❤️

Bravo! This trainer is amazing. I love her technique. To accomplish so much in just 2 days.
She does not have a damn clue about horses.
THIS HORSE IS FREAKING BEAUTIFUL 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
_gabrillidou_ that’s for sure!
She is a beautiful animal...elegant and strong 😍
I know right
Dang she’s huge!!
And soo smart :o
Super interesting approach and it does appear to work. This trainer has a fearless, wonderful calm mind. Zen.
It seems too many people on this page aren't acknowledging or realizing that this IS a horse who has already been broke to ride and jump but has missed part of her basic and much needed training....respect. I agree this trainer is fearless and like many other accomplished trainers reads her horse well.
I suggest you watch the documentary “buck” about buck branaman. You may find it interesting ... and entertaining
She's not fearless. She pays close attention, and sees no evident danger in the attitude of the horse. If the horse sees you, and isn't distracted, it won't purposely hurt you unless it wants to. And most horses will indicate when they want to hurt you. The big thing for her method is that smallish, enclosed pen with no distractions of noise or sight. The horse has much fewer things to think about.
the horse: "so I got a problem owner. she just doesn't understand me."
Luckily she was willing to understand her! :)
Anja
That’s 99% the truth too.
LOL - you got a problem attitude that I see!!!
exactly. Just listening to the owner speak I could figure that out

A most compassionate and intuitive horse whisperer. Hauntingly beautiful horse and trainer.
❤
lol you've got to be kidding
This trainer is very intuitive with impeccable reading of the horse and great timing in a style that completely works for her. There is so much to 'see' here that is not obvious at all. I wouldnt recommend any amateur try and copy any of this. thanks for the video, such a lovely 'feel'
Torturing this poor horse
@@charlainelatta7925 Charlaine Latta this is not for you amateurs so don't even try to understand.
Joy Devoted, I think exactly like you do and love the work Mia do with the horses.
Charlaine Latta You are very fortunate, indeed, that you have absolutely no idea what torture is.
She was absolute salvation for this confused mare. 🙏🏻
I love that she will not strike the horse with the whi
This reminds me of a riding lesson I had during my holidays a few months back. Before my instructor even put me on the horse, I had to stay on the ground and lead it around without a lead rope or any tools. I think riding would be a lot kinder if everyone had to spend at least five minutes such walking or standing around with their horse before a lesson.
Completely agree I plan to go horseback riding soon and I would spend any amount of time I could on or off any horse. They’re amazing creatures
That's a BIG horse, and what a gorgeous mover.
OldSlowGamer she’s stunning!
This is fascinating. I train dogs, found this video by accident and am mesmerized at the similarities of training methods I use with dogs and what you are using with horses. Beautiful work that you do!!!
It made me laugh when she said “lemme check the mouth,” proceeds to stick her hand in the mouth. lmaooo
I unconsciously stopped on your comment exactly when that happened. Lol
That's beautiful! Thank you for leaving this comment.
I love how she’s not afraid. Even though the horse is so big and out of control sometimes
Maddie Mason shes not that big tho but she did amazing job
No need for her to be afraid. She reads that horse like it's a childrens book, shen knows what it's going to do before the horse knows it itself.
her not being afraid is key - the horse telepathically and energetically will immediately feel that in the person engaging them. So use your heart - beam strong confident love from your heart and with Mia's method that horse will do what you want them to and amaze everyone around you. And you will have a much happier horse companion who knows you really get them on this level. It will change your relationship.
@@WhaleCommunicators My daughter is training a yearling colt, he is an absolute defiant sod. But when Sam goes out to see him she has to make sure she is happy with a smile, or he wont even acknowledge her. Baby steps is winning.
I feel relaxed watching and hearing your voice. Thank you for your kindness.
I love the way even if she frustrated she hugs them and shows them love to calm them down, she understands horses and acts as if she’s the leader in the herd, she’s great despite what others have to say
I’d rather this way of training rather than just riding and breaking it. This woman is a genius. 💞💖
I am in tears right now. I gave up on horse riding although it was my passion. If only I had this channel ten years ago. I lost my mare I wish I could have ridden her one more time... I gave up too soon.
Never too late to start again.
Horse attitude is like I'm not a mean B I'm just the main B and you're gonna have to show me a good reason why I shouldn't be lol
I think it is to sad to be lol.... this is not a quiet approximation for the horse it is laud and scary....
She's a beautiful, free spirit. The horse is cute too. 😊
This woman is training horses that other trainers can't train. THAT is genuine horse spirit right there
Many trainers here trolling all the horse videos to instill a fear of learning trying to keep information from being spread. Notice they never have an active channel with videos to help people learn.
Try Think like a horse, you will enjoy it.
Lol of course not, they want you to pay for lessons.
@@kimberley1449 Unless you're a women who likes the colour pink tho eh ;)
@@kimberley1449 I second that channel
Fuck off with ya troll shit.
This is such an intelligent way to train a horse. You can see the mare learning and deciding to trust. Beautiful!
I agree first thing I thought. John Lyons was the first clinic I ever went to I believe around 1990.
Yes
dark horse ㅏ7 ,
This trainer is amazing. Such respect for the horse and it is so wonderful to see a horse being riden without a bit. Have always hated bits as the horse always seems so uncomfortable. The owner is going to be wonderful as she wants her horse to be happy!
Fran from Canada here. So glad I found your site. Love how you firmly but kindly take leadership necessary for safety. Used to jump and do horse massage, so was always in a strike zone. Can't be helped, but you are constantly reading the horse. Thank you! I am sorry you have trolls.
this mare teamed w/the right person for her could accomplish great things ...she is an exceptional mare her build her carriage an most important her intellengence
Wonderful! Effective, gentle but firm trainer. You can tell trainer loves horses, and they know it!
Cheryl Williams well put!
I love how she kisses all the horses she's training.
Yeah? How do you think a horse views it? He's a prey animal now isolated from the safety of a herd.
wholeNwon oh please
Mia uses her heart all through her training. You (the viewer as well as the horse) are immediately drawn to her from the time she begins her many forms of communicaiton with the horse. She's so gentle and a beautiful person inside and out. And then to see this just in the most serene & beautiful way transfer to the horse.
This is the way it was always suppose to be - LOVING kind and gentle - all animals of any species prefer this . . . . and look at what you get back when applied.

@@WhaleCommunicators very true I dont see the same affection coming from the owner thats the main problem she just wants to use the horse for show jumping without affection and thats a big problem ... the horse seems not to trust the owner
yes and her voice is re assuring in tone..trust is developed.
I love you sm and I have only started watching you for an hour. You are so loving and you can actually understand your horse and control it without abuse. You are definitely my favorite trainer from now on
Fantastic, love how she works with these horses and explains what she is doing and why. I wish I would have had this level of understanding when I owned a horse.
Another excellent training session...!! The mare is a beauty...!! Also, she did very well being in a new environment with new people...! I think she'll be a great show jumper..!! I learned a lot..!! THANK YOU...!!!
Such a refreshing angle on horse training. Quite remarkable confidence from the trainer transforming this very strong horse.
The horse moved like silk and oh, the dapple grey! The young lady was beautiful and took instruction well, with a positive attitude. The trainer is a miracle worker.
This is so refreshing to watch her work with these horses. Love her philosophy and method.
I love to watch your videos so much that I think that I've seen this one a DOZEN times, Mia. I already tried these techniques on my wife, and now she's fully trained!! JUST KIDDING!!!
What an amazing trainer! So immediately tuned in to each horse's needs. Every time I watch her, it is so fascinating. And this is one of the most beautiful dappled horses I've ever seen! Wow.
I watch this video all the time. Every time I watch it? I learn something new... it all makes so much sense!!! This is a great classroom!!🙋😘‼️
I absolutely LOVE and respect this woman for determining horse behavior and being able to talk to them and understand them like she does. Mia, I am your new biggest fan! Keep up the great work, please!
Every so often I watch this again. I notice new things and savor the experience. Thank you Mia for sharing and showing us what’s possible.
Everytime I watch this I learn something new
the real Satan Ok but I feel like she‘s not giving the horse any other option to just follow her.
I think she is fantastic!
Me too :)
Bayla Schauer me also.
She is an absolute beauty, she does not trust people, cannot say I blame her......
this is the lady to help her.
Her markings are so beautiful
The owner ( and the previous owners) had many years to educate the horse and they did not succeed while Mia is fixing it in 2 days. Just so wonderful of her.
I would like to see this horse being jumped...
mimivonflytz I’ll bet she is delightful to watch.
mimivonflytz - Yes, I would love to see the horse jump....she is a beautiful mare.
I’d love to see her free jump, not with the owner. You can tell by the way her neck muscles are developed that she is not being ridden correctly.
Beate Mueller what do you look for to conclude the muscles are developed correctly?
Beate Mueller it’s possible that this mare is being ridden incorrectly, but she looks like a saddlebred to me, and they have naturally high set necks that come up from the tops of their shoulders.
Mia knows her shit and that is completely obvious here! Love her knowledge and the way she works with this beautiful beast! I could listen to her talk for hours!
Monique Breier me too, this young lady is amazing and a gift to horses and their owners.
This horse is “Magnificent.” What a beauty. 👌🏻
I think Mia has done an incredible job on this horse!!! What a difference! Can we also appreciate how beautiful that horse is?!
If I were the owner I would want to be there to watch the training so that I can know what to do when she goes home
They might've been watching...you have no idea.

She can always watch the video of it...
Voracious Reader no because the horse will have respect for the trainer but not the rider if that rider does even the slightest thing different there went everything she was taught
@@chloelawson7320 You're assuming the trainer only trains the horse.
What a wonderful calm incredibly patient with her mission which is what horses or ponies absolutely need!! Leadership! So lovely to see you Mia x
Mia Truly appears to be an OLD Soul and beyond her years on this Earth. Something very natural & calming about her presence with the horses. Im older now and have become fearful of Horses after several bad situations as a child, but wish I had someone like her to train me and also show me how to train the horse.
Mia demonstrates a very clear path of training with this huge athletic horse. Glorious!
Wow!
Well some stallions are just mad
Jenn Worthington that’s an amazing story.
Magnificent. I’m transfixed. Same principle with dogs, exactly.
Mia, you are an extraordinary woman. I'm so inspired by your work with horses.
❤❤❤❤
How wonderful,to see some one who really understands horses!
Has this lady some kind of magic? Awesome!

Really marvelous. The horse responds because you understand her!
Mia, you amaze me no end. I love and agree with the way you do things. I watched other trainer vids and altho I understand their style with the horse, I love yours way so much more. You do not use bits (which I hate!) and you lead and train with love and kindness in your heart and it comes out in your voice. No wonder the horses actually work with you faster! Love you!!
What a beautiful horse ! I love watching Mia work with horses.
This woman should give training not only to horses but surely to the owners/riders. She’s incredibly understanding of what an animal needs. Bravo 👏 Madame you are very inspiring. And a big thanks from the animal kingdom 💖
I love your style of training. You are so confident, relaxed and I afraid that the horses all immediately recognise that. Your understanding of them is beautiful too. Well done

Now here's some information that's going to shock you as well:
Bit-less bridles are also abusive!
That's wonderful how she got his horse to gain trust and acceptance she saved him ❤
