There are so many powerhouses but it's rare to find the ones that can touch you like Whitney..
She's one of the few women if not the only one who can stand flat footed and belt out a song that moves you to the core. She certainly isn't one of those singers who has to do a lot of fancy footwork to compensate for what she lacks in vocal quality. I sure miss her pure vocals.

This song was playing when my alarm went off all those years ago and I went to the music store the same day and bought it.another time when my alarm which was set to a music station on the radio was playing Mariah careys butterfly and I had to go get it too.
Her producers, set designers, wig designers, lighting crew, fashion coordinators, choreographers, and makeup people really understood her. Her studio productions were all flawless and made her look and sound like a goddess. She was smart, beautiful, talented, sexy, and rich. And she accomplished all that when she was still very, very young. I loved her the very first time I heard her on the radio back in the day. I loved her even more when I saw her perform on TV.
Even in her latter years when her voice was mostly gone and she was easily out of breath on stage, I still loved her. She was sick with heart disease and emphysema, but she was still on stage singing live. I was one of the fans cheering her on even though she wasn't hitting the high notes anymore. She was Whitney, and she had nothing to prove to anyone. We were just so happy to see her on stage again.
She's been gone a long time but I still love her and miss her badly. There will never be another like her.

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else here. For every Mariah Carey, Whitney, MJ and Janet, there was also Vanilla Ice and similar acts back then too. However I do think our generation is in need of someone of similar caliber to Whitney. Not necessarily replacing her, because she can't be replaced. Just someone who has a voice and could be a spokesperson for our generation or something like she was. It'd be nice. Taylor Swift and Bey are close to that, and they're great, but their voices aren't near as good as Whitney's or Mariah's. I hope maybe our generation will get that soon!
