    We grow mostly in containers for space reasons.
    I just started my first chillies and sweet peppers. Starting some lemon drops when they arrive 😁

    Hello! I’m in western WA, and from what I hear from other people who tried to garden, it’s very very difficult if it’s not impossible because of our climate.. it rains and cold here most of the year! Can you please do a video to give us tips how can I start my garden in my backyard? I’m planning to have everything ready by spring next year (2025) ..

      Well I’m happy you found this video! We are WELL into our first season with our Vego beds and I absolutely love them. I would still recommend them to anyone!

    We’ve used pressure treated wood for the frame of our raised beds. However, we have tin lining the inside of the beds so the chemicals in the wood doesn’t touch the dirt in our beds. Glad I watched you today because we have a bed in the wrong place and I think we’re going to have to move it.

      I’ve seen that style, they are beautiful!
      Yeah, wrong place can definitely cause some problems! Thanks for watching!

      In the 80s we were using railroad ties that was pressure treated with creosote. Oops didn't really think about it then. Lol

    Thanks Brandon... I'm just getting started with my raised bed journey and I'm really enjoying your videos. I too am using the Lego raised beds, but might try Birdies for my next few. TBD... Once I can make the trip to my nearest Tractor Supply, which is ~35 miles away, I'll be buying a few cattle panels to build the foldable tomato cages you shared a few weeks back and the arches I've seen in this and other videos. I'm sure I'll be incorporating more of your ideas into my garden as well. Cheers!

      Birdies were my next option for sure! They are amazing beds and I think you’d be happy with either brand! Definitely try the cages and arch trellis’s! They will help you grow more than you normally would for sure! I appreciate you watching!

    Great info and video . Started working on a decent 30x40 spot in ground with 10 protine tubs and a few 15 gallon pots but got put on hold due to motorcycle wreck . Love your garden . Definitely a follow

      Oof, that’s thought! Sorry to hear about the accident but I’m glad you’ve got the garden going!

    Great video and lots of good tips! I just ordered 2 Vego garden beds to try out and am finding your videos super helpful. About spacing, think about what implements like garden carts and wheel barrows that you might use, or mowers or tractors, 😊and whether they will fit down your aisles. I use a Rubbermaid two wheel "poopcart" to clean my barn and haul garden stuff around, and it is 36" wide at the axles. My garden cart is even wider, and it won't fit thru a 36" doorway. I know everybody's stuff can be different, but look at what you already have, how you use it, and adjust bed spacing to accomodate ❤

    I need clarification please. You said you have a south facing garden….. what does that mean? Which part is facing south? Which way is the inside of your arch walkway facing? I have purchased all the supplies to start my first duo, but I’m confused as to which part of the bed is south facing and which part of the trellis goes where… PLEASE HELP! Thank you!

    Thanks for saying how wide your paths with the cattle panel trellises are! I just got some delivered and have been wondering what a good spacing is for them.

      When I was trying to research my spacing I got frustrated with the lack of anyone talking about it, so I try to bring it up in my videos from time to time. I won't say it's the perfect spacing for everyone, but it works well for me!

    I have bought two raised beds this year replacing some totes. This year I spaced the layout much better than before but I still have one aisle that is tight. 😬 Especially with it being full of tomatoes in a tomato jungle. I have one more tiny raised bed that I'm going to buy. After that, it'll be trying to figure out what to do with the very back of my garden which I have to cut down branches from the empty house next to me. Empty for now. But I drop the branches and let them die off or use the sticks. And there's just fencing pieces and rakes etc and it messes up my photo's because it's unsightly. So that's my next focus.

    Do you recommend mixing broken terracotta or ceramic beads?

    It appears you have some garden cloth/membrane that covers the ground of your entire garden. And each Vego bed is on top of that membrane. What did you use?

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  7 місяців тому +1

      When we placed the beds we put them on top of the membrane, but we did cut the membrane out of the inside of each bed! It was mainly for the walkways.
      But we used “Dewitt sunbelt weed barrier” and it’s been great. Really any heavy duty “weed barrier” will work. I stayed away from box store stuff and found one that worked really well for us!

    Would a few inches of pine straw work as a soil covering?

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  7 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely it would! Ive thought about that, we just don’t have any pine trees around 😂. I may go find or buy some though.

    Where did you get your wood chips?

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  Рік тому +1

      I’m lucky enough that my best friend lived across the street AND he’s in the tree business. He dropped a dump truck full for me. It would be similar to chip drop though, have you looked to see if you can get that in your area?

      @@WhitepepperFarmshomestead signed up for chip drop 2 years ago. Kept renewing the request but never got anything.
