When this LP was released in 1988 TTT would play it every single evening while giving the run down of the nights programme. Brings back beautiful memories
Hearing this is a happy and sad feeling at the same time, happy if u have lived through the era of the 70’s to the 90’s,the memories of a happier safer Trinidad and sad to see where it has become, this is true culture no other place like it and it’s being overshadowed by evil, misery, pain, and disappear so sad,so sad..my sweet Trinidad where have u gone 😢😢😢😢🤦♂️
To this *very* pasty white cat who is almost exclusively into Death Metal/Punk/Hardcore Punk/Thrash/Grindcore/D-Beat/Black Metal/Crust/Heavy Metal etc ... this might honestly be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Not to mention, being sung by one of the most beautiful lady’s I have ever laid my eyes on, as well.
Parang is a popular folk music originating from Trinidad and Tobago, it was brought to Trinidad by Venezuelan migrants who were primarily of Amerindian, Spanish, and African heritage, something which is strongly reflected in the music itself. The word is derived from two Spanish words: parranda, meaning "a spree or fête", and parar meaning "to stop".
Sharlene will be in San Fernando on Friday night 7th November, at 8 pm, at Harris Promenade our Christmas gift from the San Fernando City Council.. so Southerners come on up to the Harris Promenade and hear this beautiful music.
Her Spanish pronunciations are awful! She does not appear to have formally learnt Spanish. Probably learns a song from a transcript. Many of the songs from this album are watered down versions of songs by Tania de Venezuela. Look up Yo Busco Inspiración by Tania, look up Si Yo Pudiera.

Canadian 45 - Well as much as I love *’Sharlene Flores’* & more so, this very song, the ‘true’ *”Parang Queen”* will forever be the late, great *’Daisy Voisin.’*
Beautiful music indeed and beautiful voice of Charlene Flores! Was she born in Trinidad or Venezuela please? Based on hearing Parang it seems like Trinidad is suddenly transformed into a Spanish speaking Latin American island during Christmas season!
She was born in Trinidad. Traditional Parang music is only sung in Spanish due to the Venezuelan influence. However, parang soca is a cushion on parang and soca music and is in English. I hope you enjoy the music.

I am not sure about how good her Spanish is

Por haber parido nuestro Gran Mesías... not sure the personal ‘a’ after parir is correct
Anil Gayadeen hey you is my new best friend. Excellent job. And thank you.
@@dannorth9032 The personal "a" is used before the direct object:nuestro gran mesias..I believe that it is correct.
Maybe the "a" is not the personal "a" but part of the verb to give birth to..."parer a o parir a";but I don't know that word.
