  • 4-26-20 | Thousand Oaks | 4:00pm | A stolen vehicle pursuit began sometime around 4pm in the Port Hueneme area with Port Hueneme Police.
    Multiple agencies including California Highway Patrol, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Oxnard Police Department, and Ventura Police Department all assisted Port Hueneme Police units at various points of the pursuit route.
    The driver of the stolen vehicle driven into Oxnard, then down harbor boulevard into Ventura, before finally entering the southbound 101 Freeway at the Seaward on ramp.
    Information about the white van being stolen was confirmed by a CHP Sergeant.
    The pursuit had continued Southbound 101 freeway, traveling into Camarillo and eventually into Thousand Oaks.
    The situation had taken an unexpected turn due to Fire and CHP authorities were handling a vehicle crash at the Moorpark Rd exit that had shut down several lanes, the crash was unrelated to the pursuit.
    The pursuit driver continued into the crash scene and squeezed by on the shoulder with units still in pursuit.
    Spike strips had been deployed at one point. Shortly after they were deployed, units engaged in the pursuit had advised that the driver side front tire had gone flat.
    The pursuit ended a short distance away on the Southbound 101 freeway just past the interchange to the 23 freeway.
    Units had shut down the freeway while a man and woman inside the van were both taken into at gunpoint.
    VCSO along with their K-9 Dano assisted CHP with clearing and searching the van.
    Port Hueneme PD has responded to the termination to continue their investigation along with CHP & VCSO.
