I do have to say that even tho Jk is hurting & upset he still obeys Jamil If he really wanted to he could of attacked Jamil and/or the doctor I'm really impressed by Jk's manners at all times 🙂♥️
Jamil, I know he NEEDS this.. but they need to have a better way to get his blood that doesn’t hurt him so many times. I was getting worried at the end, he seemed to be getting MUCH more aggressive and the look in his eyes… I don’t want you to break your trust with him over this. It doesn't hurt him. He doesn't like the Dr. And it's for his absolute best interest. I've used one of those meters before, it is just a tiny prick on his foot and that is it
Just like when he gets his nails clipped. Sometimes you gotta let them win one. But not one that can save his life. It can turn into something serious, coma , stroke and many things

To us, humans who understand what this is, it’s just a prick. But to someone who doesn’t know what it is, it’s like being stabbed which is technically what you’re doing just on a really tiny level. Look closely at JK’s eyes in this video compared to the first time he brought him to the doctor, his eyes tell you exactly how he feels and he is NOT having it. He also only responds when the prick happens which shows he’s not faking it or flinching like he does when the nail clippers come out. A numbing ointment wouldn’t hurt, literally and figuratively, so why not use it?

Yeah you gotta try reallyyyy hard to get it on the first try. Trust is HUGE in monkeys, but so is intentional pain. I don’t want JK to confuse this care as harm to him and break his trust with Jamil 😰❤

He just knows he is being pricked and it (very obviously) friggin hurts him! You have to study monkeys more, because they will never intentionally harm another in their pack. Even hurting others in territorial battles is a huge deal for them (see the chimpanzees vs silver backs right now).
Awww! It's so heartbreaking when one of "animal kids" doesn't feel well! They can't tell us what's wrong and don't understand what we are doing is helping you feel better!! I know from experience the pain of having a sick loved one both animal and human. Thank you for going to such lengths for JK's care. I hope that he can be stabilized soon but i also know that with age comes such issues. Its worth the effort to get this problem under control. I understand that it isnt easy but what is in this life. Blood sugar rises even more when you are under considerable stress. Please, this isn't the right way to do the test. After so many failures poor JK possibly has blood sugar up to the GOD! AFTER TOO MUCH PAIN AND EFFORT......
It's a necessary evil. It sucks. But in all honesty, after a few times, it really doesn't hurt all that badly. Those devices prick just deep enough to get the minimum amount of blood needed for the glucose meter. It doesn't take much. It's odd that the vet goes for the legs - when I had to do it for a time, it was the tip of my finger. Of course, JK has different physiology (not that different, as we share DNA with macaques, but enough) and he doesn't understand that it's for his own good. Jamil, as usual, you are amazing. PS - I love Syafi trying to help! He has a good heart, Jamil and the family are lucky to have him.

My sister has a diabetic cat who wears a device that monitors his blood sugar continuously. It’s called a Freestyle Libre here in the US. They implant it on a shaved patch on his skin at the vet’s office and he wears it for several weeks before they have to replace it. Would this kind of device be a possibility for JK?

The veterinary could be able to take the blood in shorter time poor Jk he's a big guy with a soft heart not use to get hurt. He deserves something he loves
Mr. Jamil was the vet able to get any blood from JK? If not these are a few suggestions: 1) Try warming up JK's foot with a warm compress/towel to warm up the blood before he uses the device then use alcohol wipe 2) Set the device on a higher setting because JK's skin is likely more dense than a humans. A different route would be to ask if the doctor/vet has a wearable monitor that device JK can wear to on his forearm or stomach. it measures/records JK blood sugar levels w/o having to be pricked stuck w/a needle daily. However, JK will have to be shaved and will have to leave the device alone. Not sure how he would feel about that? Wishing JK the best of health❤
@@mengkarong77 that’s what you do to check for diabetes. A finger prick to draw blood which is then tested for sugar levels in the blood. JK needs the same thing because his blood sugar levels were very high but are coming down now
Poor JK I feel so bad for him having to get his toes pricked so many times. Looked like the vet was having a hard time getting blood from him. Probably would be better and easier if you could get the blood from his fingers but I know that cannot happen because JK would bite the vets face off.
Why did they do it so many times? It can't be that hard to get blood If the person knows what they're doing. I thought you would give him a small treat every time so he would have a reason to cooperate.
I have doubt his BS will be low. Jk was so slick stealing noodles from Shaki’s plate. Jamil please put Jk where he can’t borrow from Shaki’s plate. It would be ok if he took her tomato or cucumber but he grabbed all her noodles.

Poor JK I feel so bad for him having to get his toes pricked so many times. Looked like the vet was having a hard time getting blood from him. Probably would be better and easier if you could get the blood from his fingers but I know that cannot happen because JK would bite the vets face off.

Why did they do it so many times? It can't be that hard to get blood If the person knows what they're doing. I thought you would give him a small treat every time so he would have a reason to cooperate.
I have doubt his BS will be low. Jk was so slick stealing noodles from Shaki’s plate. Jamil please put Jk where he can’t borrow from Shaki’s plate. It would be ok if he took her tomato or cucumber but he grabbed all her noodles.
I love JK so much. That poor baby. He does not know what is happening to him. Diabetes very hard to control in animals. I was just diagnosed myself with diabetes type II but I know why all the needles.
