Having seen the "rebranding" by Bruntwood at Sale and Altrincham town centres, I dread to think what Stretford will look like. No doubt lots of black frontage on the shops as per Sale which is now already visible on the Chester Road side of the Mall, with no individuality allowed by the traders within.
Seating near to the Quality Save ? ?? what about the dual carriageway adjacent to it with its air and noise pollution?? Trafford Council have lost the plot, or should that be Bruntwood Council as they seem to be leading this at the cost of Trafford ??
Real shame as I can actually recall shopping with my parents on the old King Street and Pinnington Lane and initially welcomed the upgrade to the town, but based on what I have seen so far it is all very disappointing but not surprising.

      'Bruntwood Council' = pithy

I have studied the proposals and plans for some years now and it certainly seems to me, there is a pattern of consultation as a platitude to the public body, interpretation/appropriation of needs shoehorned into what the corporate bodies wanted to do in the first place.
The council seems to 'lack funds' when basic needs for vulnerable adults who have experienced systemic poverty due to living life in the area of Trafford. There is no real accountability nor transparency. Any questions that hit the mark are dodged and ignored and it seems any difficult issues are outright dismissed by the corporate partnership of Trafford/Bruntwood... et al.
It is increasingly insulting that the 'town centre' of Stretford still revolves around shops and shopping. Not very good ones at that and not any businesses that support the needs and demographic of the area. The food hall for example is overpriced and does not reflect the nature of the area. There are many things wrong with it and as a local Man, I feel uncomfortable and alien going in there.
Stretford is increasingly alienating the people that built it and this is a common occurrence and palpable trend and pattern.
If the council corporation wanted to change the environment to reflect the needs and wishes of the community, the plans and proposals would look a lot different than they are and the communication would be abundantly clear. The intention to do what is best for the community and people of the area would be clearly understood and supported and some level of hope would be afforded/felt by a people that are surviving on apathy and dregs of what drink/drugs/distractive behaviour they could afford, whilst staying behind the lucky comfort of the home they still have.
Crime is driven by poverty and inequality. The Trafford area is slowly evicting the local people and those that dont buy into the corporate free for all that seems to 'pass' as a local government that long neglects its duty of care to those that pay for its workers wages. Council workers seemingly lack the gumption to see that they are being used as useful tools to further fleece the local people of any money they have left, whilst increasingly controlling open access to our own spaces we have long paid for.
The places where we live are ours by default and should not be owned/negligently run by faceless private corporations.
There are laws against such practices and as such the actions consistently taken by those that hold a duty of care can be halted and reversed. If only the ignorance and harassment, via unlawful and extortionate council taxing (via fear of criminalisation) of the well meaning public didnt play into the hands of corporate greed.
The people have more power than they know and sooner or later the Chickens come home to roost as we work out how to effectively utilise the systems we pay for and the courts to actively enforce better for the long term good of the local people that live here.
Corporations like this don't like negative publicity that harms their 'Brand'.
Use of Media is a capability that the people can utilise and it can certainly be used to great effect and leverage.
Things are changing, but they are slow. This is the age of Information and Communication and it works in the favour of those that are patient, persistent and clear in what they want from a locally organised governance.
Time to CAPITALISE on the covert and overt admissions made by such apparent corruption and really force those that take/benefit from public money to actually do their job.
No ill is meant in this comment. Just my truth as I see it.
A statement of facts driven by observations of pattern, action and consistent behaviour.
    Thanks
