Dan is the vocal equivalent of a Swiss army knife. You can never be quite sure what he will do, but you can be sure it will be amazing!
Dan doesn't believe in "born given" talent. He has worked hard his whole life to improve and strengthen his voice. That's why he makes no mistakes with his vocal technique. He knows exactly what technique to use so he doesn't strain his voice. He has several years of classical training and he also worked as a voice coach for several years. His covers are always carefully arranged and well thought out. Dan is a perfectionist.

This has special meaning to Dan. His Father was Italian and loved opera. He and his Father would listen to this song while riding in the car. Dan's Father passed in 2017. Please watch his video covering Elvis's American Trilogy. His Father was a big Elvis fan. Just be sure to have the tissues ready. Thanks again for your reaction.

As a metal head at heart, I’m also a lover of classical music/opera. I grew up playing violin and piano as well as going to the Symphony and Opera. I know Nessun Dorma is very difficult to sing well and Dan did a phenomenal job. His Gethsemane and Music of the Night performances truly show how much of a performer is and not just a vocalist who stands still at the mic. In Music of the Night he changes from strong loud vocals to very soft vocals instantly. It’s definitely a testament to his training and skill. Thank you for your reaction ❤

Good Morning, it's 1:30 AM now and I loved you reacted to this one.
This is exactly why I admire Dan Vasc, he is a chameleon singer that get into the character's of the songs he covers.
    Music of the Night
    Gethsemane
    Burn Butcher Burn
    Bring me to life
    Wind Fire and Steel
Some example of his vocals and acting skills.
Waiting for your next choices and big hugs from Brazil 👏🙏🇧🇷

The more I have listened to Dan the more I have decided that his vocal choices seem intentional. Sometimes the song requires the respect of a classical approach and technique, which he clearly can deliver in spades. But often Dan chooses an interpretive approach that is expressive in a thematic or story telling sort of way. That was the feeling I got with Amazing Grace. He was telling a faith journey with his voice, his vocal choices, not just the words of the song.

A WONDERFUL reaction video, brother Charlie! I LOVE that you chose to do Nessun Dorma!!! To see and hear that Dan can sing like this is another level of vocal diversity that is outstanding!!!!!!!! When I first heard this, I wept….it still makes me weep. When you go through all of Dan’s musical repertoire and see and hear everything, it is just stunning of all the things Dan is able to do…..I have never seen anyone else do these things at that level….so in my opinion, Dan Vasc is UNMATCHED. 💛 Brother Charlie, you are going to have fun as you continue to discover all the things in Dan’s treasure trove!!!!! Blessings and love to you! 👏🤗

Knocked you out, didn't he? Dan's a very emotional singer, and this was a favorite of his late father's. As you say, he is an amazing artist. Some other suggestions - on the folk side, try Loch Lomond or Scarborough Fair. Unlike many big-voiced singers (including opera singers, and I've been a big opera fan over the years) Dan doesn't oversing songs that are meant to be sung simply and quietly. In addition to his gorgeous voice, incredible range and breath control, and all the other technical aspects of his vocal performance, he also has excellent taste, which is something that can't be taught. Another great Witcher cover, in another of Dan's voices, is the Song of the White Wolf. Thanks so much for continuing your exploration!

Dan is awesome. He can sing anything. He has theatrical performances such as Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera and Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. He also shows his versatility in Bring Me to Life, Bohemian Rhapsody, Black Wind Fire and Steel where he holds the last note over 30 seconds. I personally like I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Disney’s Mulan. His 80’s covers are better than the originals. You can’t go wrong with anything he has done.

You said it all: he is a multifaceted artist.
Although he is a natural baritone, he naturally glides to soprano.
He has a range of 4 octaves, unique breath control, training in classical and contemporary music - as well as composition - he sings in 7 languages, has a passion for 80's metal, the ability to "perform" in every song he takes on, perfectionism, an enormous capacity for work and learning, enormous determination and discipline.
Daniel is a force of Nature duly trained and directed by years of study and hard work.
We here today consider him one of the most beautiful and versatile voices on the internet.
Thank you very much for your reaction.
Hugs from Curitiba - Brazil. 🇧🇷

Thank you for the reaction. I'm guessing Dan sang the way he did at the beginning of Amazing Grace because he was imitating an American country/folk singer. Dan is a terrific mimic. In many of his covers, he sounds like the original singers. Because he clearly has perfect control of his tone, pitch, vibrato, etc., I feel all his choices in Amazing Grace were deliberate, the nasal twang and "breathy" notes included. But of course, since that was your very first exposure to him, you could only judge by what you were hearing in the moment, and you weren't wrong (no matter what some folks have said).

For a guy that doesn't work bel canto all the time, Dan did fantastic. I had the privilege of seeing Pavarotti live when i was 14, and he closed with this piece, so I can't say Dan's interpretation is the best I've heard, but it's in the top 5.
Minor nit pick, his breath control in the last few bars could be tightened some, so that final B5 can resonate longer and have a slightly rounder timbre. Outside of that, no notes, considering his overall training and age, he knocked it outta the park.

Charlie, that lower range, very soft, very nasal sound you noticed at the beginning and that is, by a good margin, the least appealing of Dan's many styles, seems to be just him over controlling his voice. If you want a look at his lower range given more room to shine, look up Fairy Tale.

  • @DreadKyller

3:25 if every singer used perfect technique at all times then most music would get very boring quickly. Artists make intentional decisions on when to forgo technique in exchange for stylistic choices. Without talking to him about it it's difficult to tell whether he just wasn't locked in or whether he intentionally was using a less supported sound for effect. Considering he shows in this video (and in many others) that he can sing fully supported I'd lean more on stylistic choice, he's made many covers of various singers and can sing in many styles, emulating other metal and non-metal artists quite well, so he's shown that he has a lot of control of his instrument, so it seems rather unlikely that something lacking something as fundamental as support would be unintentional, but I suppose it's possible.

Thank you for your excellent response to this song sung by Dan.
With my discovery of Dan through "Amazing Grace" I learned to know, love and appreciate so many new songs and bands.
His vocal range and presence are unique and fascinating at the same time.
    Wish you an epic day

I've said before, Dan can sing anything. 💯 I will admit that his Vibrato is forced. But, if definitely works. ❤
