- So we are flat out with work here at HQ, leaving Isaac to plough through the engines while John and I machine like crazy, but we do have some positive news on the Court case for the Landrover engine

Just let the Bailiffs deal with it, you have given him every opportunity thus far and he knows how to play you. Step away let the system deal with it, its what you paid them for. Great content, keep up the good work...
Once things have gone this far my view would be no discount add every cost on as even doing so would not pay for your time wasted, the storage and all the worry, court and bailiffs job now let them sort it out.
Agreed. No more negotiating. Let the Court Baliffs do their thing. Out of courtesy, let the garage know that the engine cannot be released until the overdue invoice is paid into your bank account, and that you will not be able to arrange delivery. The "customer" will need to arrange and pay for his own shipping: This muppet doesn't realise that his credit rating has now been affected. No more loans, mortgages, car loans and credit cards for him.
No discount...just let the bailifs sort it out... or you will end up paying the costs.
Yep, if the customer ever gets this engine back it will be a warranty nightmare. Every problem real or perceived no matter how it was caused, they will be back in in your head living for free again trying to "win back a point or two". If they do want it back you should be clear that it no longer comes with a warranty because it sat too long between completion and collection and it was never properly prepared to be sitting for months with no oil circulating and in a non climate controlled environment.
"He didn't receive the invoice". He has lied to you and is still lying. Unless he shows up with cash in hand (best check you're not getting false notes) that engine shouldn't go anywhere and court processes should proceed. If he does show up with cash in hand, he has to take the engine away then and there.
Great progress on the BDA and Lotus!
As far as the Rover motor....no deal. I sent you a copy of our client contract a couple of years ago. It has an area of charges we apply to client projects similar to this. We have a project that now has all of the appropriate paperwork to market it to the public.
Your client is playing a game. Let the court process proceed. Apply all charges to his billing. This client has significant issues. Contact the Garage who has possession of the rolling chassis. Maybe they are in need of the motor once they have legal possession of that car. Stick to your guns Lee. Go out and have a Deluxe weekend.
Don’t let that Land Rover engine leave til the bailiffs have been paid in full or else you’ll be getting chased by them to cover their fees
Exactly this. Let him pay the baylifs now. 6 months too late to be cutting a deal
Lee leave it to the bailiffs wouldn't get involved in it anymore no favours for him he messed you around he suffers the consequences
Love your content lee, Love how much knowledge Issac has for young fella, How the heck did you manage to find him! Lol, A big part of your business mate and super grounded young fella. Don’t let him Go mate when he asks for the Big Bucks! Lol 👍
Do not let that Discovery engine out of the door until you have been paid in full. I guarantee that any deal you do will go south if he gets his engine out of your workshop and to the garage that are supposed to be fitting it.
Now the bailiffs are enrobed leave it to them. Been there got the t shirt. If you get involved yourself it will just be a nightmare. Go through the bailiffs if you want to sort it that way.
Maybe it will be one of those " if you don't pay, we'll take it away" lmao 😂
Do not give the engine back if the court judgement is in your favour that means the engine is yours plus you can go for everything that's owed just get the bailiffs to do it the guy will end up loosing everything and that's only right when he thinks he can put people's wages at risk a smaller business would struggle to keep trading with huge losses like that.
dont get involved and undermine the bailiffs, once you start getting involved, the baliffs wont help no more. If the guy turns up or calls, just say its gone beyond you dealing with it and its now in the hands of the high court bailiffs, I would say he has had plenty of time to get it sorted and didnt even defend himself at county court.
Let the Bailiff's deal with it now Lee.
Love the way you two interact with each other 👍very honest and well presented👍great that you show and share the ups and downs of your business with us all💪hope that boat anchor of an engine gets picked up soon and you get paid for the GREAT WORK YOU DO 👍💪👍💪
V8 with cam plate
Look at oil passage make sure you don't block it off with a bolt.
Nice shop updates as well.
Been a bit since I have watched.
You have tried to sort the engine but it is time to back off and let the law deal with it don't make a rod for your own back and also the guarantee started when the engine was finished the person decided not to pay not your fault. This is how these people get through life by making it hard for everyone else. I say again don't get involved you will do yourselves no favours. Great video.
This guy knows what he's doing ,, the bailiffs will need paying and this guy is trying to get round paying the bailiffs and court fees , which you will end up paying, let the process play out you have waited this long.
Lee. Leave it with the bailiffs. You've paid them, let them do their job.
That guys gonna come out with all sorts of sob stories as of why he shouldn't pay. The bailiffs are used to that crap.
Don't forget, the bailiffs fees are added to what he owes, so in essence, you ain't gonna be out of pocket.
OMG - Isaac is a little gold mine! He's a sponge for information and learning. He'll be running the whole business when you retire Lee (could be sooner than you think!)
Don't let that engine go until you have been paid and by a method that can't be cancelled. Oh and mark all the parts and take loads of photos or you might get it back as a warranty return.
The only reason you went to court in the first place was because the customer had ceased all communication with you, despite all attempts over all the media contacts you had. Now that the issue has gone to court , all of a sudden the customer makes contact and then starts to dispute your invoice charges. Had he stayed in contact, I'm sure that you could have found some way of settling the invoice but as it is now I wouldn't even talk to the guy at all. Everything through your lawyers and the legal system. He may have had problems but it's just too much of a coincidence that he's suddenly re-appeared on the radar.
Let the bailiffs deal with it all, that person has had plenty of time to quible the bill, through the court papers which he lgnored, the reason he has contacted you is that the bailiffs have written to him before they visit unannounced, he's panicking thats why he's been in touch, have no contact with him , otherwise you will have a big bill to pay, just let them do their job
Sound advice here Lee. Let the Bailiffs and courts deal with the customer. No quarter given.....
Good - no flashy intro!
It's gone past mediation with the customer.
He has to contact you via the courts or bailiffs.
If you do "A deal " with him then you and him have broken the order of the court .
Which will leave you with bill to pay , and the next time you reliy on the courts to intervene then they may not be so understanding.
He has had since July to arrange either payment or at least work out a payment plan ( if he has fallen on hard times)
But only now he surfaces.
hi i used to build lotus engins for compertition uses the valves just had a thick O ring on the stems to shed the oil over the guide
hi lift cams restrict the avalable space, for road use i think there was a shallow top hat seal that fitted on the valve stem
but that was back in the late 60's early70's when a bit of smoke was acceptable,
the 1300 bda was done for the london to mexico reved at 9 and 10 thousand but failed on the low grade south american fuel.
there were thicker mexico blocks cast that were yellow,
Sucks when you find this out 35 years later, I had a mk1 lotus escort in the late 80's sold it in 93' for $8500 au. (needed a deposit for a house) Any way, killed the engine hillclimbing it, the rebuild was epic, a friend gave me a YELLOW kent block to start the rebuild. No one knew what it was at the time (the only Mexicos in Australia were private imports and extremely rare) Just found out it was a genuine Mexico block! Thank you! At the time we noticed similarities to the lotus block, bigger caps etc. So Steel caps, Nissan crank, massive over bore, Carillo rods, forged pistons, Cosworth C1 cams and 45 mm Webbers. Broke the class record at Collingrove Hillclimb in 91' I miss that car😥 As I write this there is a large framed photo of my twink coming off the 'wall' at Collingrove on the wall behind me. Good times.
Can you do a section on bda bdg bdm bdt differences even if iys just to go over parts availability or potential missing parts etc cos this is a forgotten legend for fords peeps
I remember my dad back in the 60s had a problem getting rings and he used to”cord rings” to expand the ring out from behind. Now a disclaimer I was 6 at the time and this could all be in my imagination.
Have you tried F. W. Thornton for rings?
I wouldn't have any more contact with the LR guy, let the courts and bailiffs deal with it, he's clearly still trying it on!
What about the old cvh idea for stem seals with a washer so the spring holds the seal in place
Now that the bailiffs are involved then from that point Baram Engines are no longer involved. (In other words get out of harms way)👍
I'm sure if owner won he would go for max, you should to, only if terms and conditions fully communicated via first and subsequent invoices
Lotus Twincams dont need stem seals but the guide to valve stem clearance must be within the specification tolerance and preferably in the lower half. The guides wear into an hourglass shape and the valves stems into a barrel shapes so you need to check along the full length of both. Various people fit stem seals by machining the guides to suit but you need to be careful with spring retainer to to the stem seal clearance at full valve lift
In for a penny in for a pound . You have the CCJ so now pay the fee and have it transferred to the High Court . Then have the Court instruct a "Sheriff" to enforce . That will wipe the smug grin off the debtors face .
It’s ‘taking up an engine stand’?? You could have easily taken it off and put it on a pallet or some wood.
LandroverMan still playing games I see. Don't let him pull your strings, leave it to the bailiffs. Sets a precedent for any future problems.
Should really use ARP crank mains studs on the Rover V8, the number 2 is known for chattering loose and damaging the block, that’s why later engines had 4 bolt mains
You cannot say ‘off the record’ on UA-cam… the statement is literally on the record. 😂
The genuine Rover v8 manual says to fill the oil pump with Vaseline,it works!
Do not let that engine leave your unit until it's all paid for and you should leave it to the bailiffs as they are now part of the process!!
Such a load of rubbish that he said he’s not received an invoice.
If he hadn’t why has he not been in touch asking if his engine is done yet. 🤷♂️
It’s gone too far, let the bailiff carry on with it.
Didn't have the invoice........... kudos to the owner for a creative way of saying he didn't have the money.
Don’t let the goods leave
I’ve been here before. Sorted a vehicle & finance company took us to court. Lost the case. Cost us close to 60k
Isnt the Lotus Europa engine a Renault unit,
Most of them were, the last few had Twincams in them. How do I know? I own a 72' Europa Twincam Special with a big valve Twink in it! It's got a 5 speed transaxle too.
if the v8 is going to be used for any competition use ,fit a windage plate in the sump , depending if its crank driven or has a distributor driven oil pump (that don't self prime ) they will self destruct in seconds if it looses oil prime.
as per normal a very interesting video
Land Rover mess is out of your hands, and will be well dealt with by others. Take a big step back, let them deal with it, and do not under any circumstances even think of making a deal with the owner, because it will then get even messier for you. You have done the right thing, don't mess it up now!
I make twin cam valve guides that take a stem seal if you need any
LAND ROVER MAN,,,, he’s no cowboy he’s a bandit!!
You guys talking about small and light, you should see an American sprint car. A 1425 lb car with driver and a 950 HP engine!
Dot negotiate further - it’s reached bailiff stage so it’s their job to collect. He is stalling - don’t fall for it.
Be careful. Strictly speaking you should have no contact with the defendant once the CCJ is issued. If he wants to settle it should be done through the courts.
Wrong, even if the bailiffs have been engaged, the debtor can still try and settle with the person they owe the debt to.
@@robertburrows6612 Indeed they can - but if something goes wrong you can find yourself with the court washing their hands and you back where you started and having to go through the whole process again. Ask me how I know...
Not sure it's a good idea to start trying to be reasonable with the Land Rover guy now Lee and would agree with everyone that you let the process play out now. The fact he has now started communicating again but picking holes in things proves he is just stalling you as he knows the shit is getting real but has it coming after the amount of time that it has gone on.
missing the Barry White intro lol! 🙂
Do not get involved with the LR guy, the same sh!t will happen again.
Pays in full or nothing and leave it to the bailiffs
The MGB V8s had a low compression as standard when new, sort of Range Rover tune….
Side question here, who's is the bike in the background??
Blue sky engineering for all your bda parts give them a look
Lee I would nothing to help the Land Rover guy.
He is the one that ignored you all that time.
He's just another chancer, total KNOB.
Is it always legal threats and issues ?? Seems a headache
Have you informed your a America customer that you don't have the equipment to bore and hone this block correctly !
Everybody is saying leave it to the balifs and they are right. Doing a deal with this client will undermine ans piss off the bailiffs and you eill end up paying them there lost revenue
Now that the court and bailiffs are involved, let them deal with collecting the full amount. If you stick your nose in the proceeding now, the bailiffs are liable to refuse to be involved.
Like the new addition to the fire door ( mountain bike ). I wonder how your fire officer will think of this.
It's a road bike...
Really some people really haven't anything better to do.
It ain't a mountain bike it's a road bike racer for a faster escape.
Court Bailiffs, every day of the week.
BDA engine have you heard of Vegantune they did twin cams with a timing belt driven engines
Total Seal in the States will make rings to your size. Great service.
Hmm, got a few with a wee bit of OCD ain't we. XD XD XD
In regards to the land rover engine. My reply to the customer is I'm sorry but you have had plenty of time to pay before it had to go to court.if you had an issue with the invoice you had your chance to despute it in court but you didnt so it's gone to court and been found in my favor and it's now in the hands of the bailiffs so it's out of my hands. You will have to deal with them. After all that's what you have payed for lee
Do not reply to the "customer" as he is just trying to confuse the issues. Let the baliffs do their thing
Land Rover, a good case for some money up front.
Please stop flicking the camera about slow down the movement........
Lee the Landover engine you should charge him every penny you are owed and storage as he was in now fair with you😏
Land Rover man is playing a game of stalling now that the baliffs have come knocking for the money - leave it with them and stick all the costs on for storage and court costs etc - don’t be fooled by his sudden contact now… 👍
👍
With the Landrover engine, i assume its 12 month warranty is from the date of the invoice, and not collection, if not, hang onto it for a few more months, as i can see a BIG warranty claim coming in against you, as the customer is a Kn.b, and will do anything to reclaim his ill gained cash,
Now retired from the Land Rover engine and gearbox business, I don't think you've heard the last from that guy. He'll settle his bill and then when the engine is fitted, he'll destroy it. I had one very similar customer who knocked out a core plug, claiming it had fallen out. Needless to say, he wasn't successful in making a claim.
ditch that flash info! - we'll still watch you all 👍👍
Stick to your guns mate, and leave it with all the fees on it. You’re entitled to all the costs you’ve spent out for the work and legal costs.
I would let the bailiff sort it. Don’t help him out of the situation he created. And also tell him the warranty has been running since the date of the invoice, not the date he pays it……
What is wrong with people Pay Yur Bills Grrrrr winds me Right up .
You're screwing it up again! The ONLY way the situation can be resolved is by the customer paying into the court! Leave it with the bailiffs ans don't mess about!
Lee, don't back down, leave it to the Bailiffs to sort it out.
Don't be daft...let the sheriffs do their job you have paid them for....doing a deal without the sheriffs is crazy...you are too nice mate he has pissed you around big time and you still want to help him out.....not a good message you are sending out to scum customers...
What was the engine out of I had a discovery 2 and to be honest I wouldn't Evan look at a l
Landrover again as long as I live 3engines liners slipping I'm in Australia and drive a Mitsubishi pajero showgun to you in 5 years all I have changed is battery tyres and brake pads that's the way it should be and I pull a caravan.
Personally I wouldn’t go to all the trouble of having that BDA stripped then partially rebuilt. I know the experience you guys have and I respect your judgement call that them oil control rings will go again, it just isn’t in me to put that back together not 100% bang on. I’d personally bite the bullet have it bored to the 2.0l size get the more readily available parts and have it completely future proofed. In reality even the most anal enthusiast won’t know it’s been done unless they stripped the motor and I don’t see that happening at many shows. Just what I’d do not saying it’s the wrong decision but it would keep me awake at night knowing I’d paid someone to do half a job
Kin ell Lee, The camera work was making sick !!
Charging court fees and storage charge is reasonable, given the mgt time spent dealing with it, money and equipment tied up.
Stop swinging the camera around, you make me feel sea-sick
leave it to the high court lot, if you get involved _doing a deal_ you can be forced to start again. Ask the HCOs for advice. I'd let the engine go on the written undertaking that the engine remains your property until paid? You could have an agreement with the garage that you both get paid before the car is released or the car is sold, you both get paid and any balance is his
" I'd let the engine go on the written undertaking that the engine remains your property until paid?': Err no. Full payment into your bank account. THEN the punter can make his own arrangements to collect the engine. Do not offer to arrange shipping as you will never get paid for that extra cost, or the punter will claim that the engine was damaged during transit.
@@ataxpayer723 I'm just thinking that the car with the engine in is worth more than the two bits, so the easiest way to recover money is put engine in car and sell driveable car
@@abzzeus Your so very wrong. You can have anything you like written down, but at the end of the day, if you have the engine in your possession and you let it go, will ever see either the money or the engine ever again. The engine does not leave until the invoice is paid and the court fees and bailiffs fees are paid!
You should be charging the Land Rover guy ALL the fees and not negotiate with him, why should you be out of pocket for anything, it's all down to him what has happened!
Those who are say you should leave it to the bailiffs are who, the claimemt can still negotiate with there debtor and visa-versa . The bailiffs act on behalf of the claiment and must follow the claiment instructions. Lee beware it now unlawful to increase the debt now you have the CCJ , you should of claimed court cost, and storage fee when you made the original claim. If you increase the debt the claiment can go back to court and have the judgement struck out. And for those who say keep the engine till he as pay that is also unlawful, you cannot deprive the owner of use of there property or goods . If you fit parts the moment it's fitted legal you no longer the own, even if it's not been paid for . I'm a self employed sparky and I've been in in Lee's position, step out of line the judge will have you balls as earnings, you must always be the good guy. The courts love a good guy. The only people who can legally increase the debt without going back to court is the bailiffs, and there fees are cast in stone
^^^ THIS! If Lee wanted sotrage costs etc, he should have put them on the claim when it went to court, the CCJ is absolute he can't add things now.
Landrover engine put storage fees on dont deal direct with the customer as he’s taking the p….s leave it to the bailiffs don’t get involved
more fool you letting the engine out the door with out full payment. be warned .
Sell the engine to the shop that has the car so they can sell the car running.
No. Keep it simple. Let the bailiffs do their job.
Just suck it up and sell the engine simple
You cannot sell the engine as you do not own it. Keep it simple. Let the bailiffs do their job.
personal intros are better - if you use flashy titles you make it a less personal like your just a presenter- personal makes you feel like your directly havin a chat face to face whilst I (viewer) am being shown about
Don’t do a deal on the jag engine, don’t get involved let the bailiffs deal with it, he’s obviously a wrong un
DOING ANYTHING IN THE UK IN THE PAST 10 YEARS IS A WAIST OF TIME
Huh??
Don’t get suckered! How many times we’ve heard that it’s just a show car, it’s not going to do anything! So we freshin it, & then they blow a rod through a block (while running the shit out of it!) that you can’t find! Don’t do halfass, unless the owner sees what it is, & signs off on it! Remember, your name is on that engine, no matter what you do! Was that thing running on methanol? Because you rarely see a gas engine rotted up that bad! If he’s going to run methanol! He needs to buy an oil heater! Engine temps need to get up! Or it will be damaged again!
