Yes Cheryl, Katie was my savior of the trip!! I would have survived fine in my car but it was much nicer having a bathroom and a shower for the weekend!🤣❤️
The hotel must have been REALLY bad because in Ohio they rarely close hotels for violations. I think you were probably really lucky you didn't stay there.
I knew someone from our vintage community would let you bunk with them. We have a great community.

If it helps to console you about not picking up @ 6:36 the hand painted double framed lady - The portraitist painted her right arm too high. All us young ladies bust are not at elbow level. At least not until 80 😂
What a nightmare. I never use those third party booking places for just this reason. I swear they are a scam! Katie is such a sweetheart to share her room!

Interrupting. Those bell figurines were sold as money makers for schools back in the 80's. The bus depot sign looks like, I think, from the movie bus stop with Marilyn Monroe.

Katie was my HERO for the weekend...she had a lovely little 1 Bedroom apartment AirB&B about 2 blocks away from the Inn...I slept on the sofa and was sooo happy to have a bathroom and shower to use!!! All of my gratitude goes to that young lady❤!!!
Thanks for the heads up, in regard to online hotel bookings! So sorry about your unfortunate problem. I know I am always uneasy when booking hotel reservations.
I think if the lady figurine was not cracked it would have been $300.
So it's legal for them to book you into a hotel that's not in business!?!? I'm so glad your friend was able to put you up. If that was me there would have to be a beep every second word, maybe even a whole sentence worth🙄

Since the dates on the notices were from 2 weeks ago, the room was booked before The Days Inn got shut down...but that also means they had 2 weeks to notify all the people who would be displaced and I received no such email from them. I was not the only one left scrambling..there was an older couple that pulled up after I filmed and they were just as dumbfounded as I was!!!
@@AntiqueAgenda that's disgusting. I hope you were all able to get fully refunded. Otherwise isn't that fraud or even theft
That had to have been such a shock. The place must really have been in bad shape to get closed down. Maybe it was a good thing, in a way. You would not have wanted to stay at a place that wasn't safe.. I am sue you were able to get a refund and it was wonderful you got to stay with Katie.

Oh I hate that happened. I never book thru Priceline or booking cause of those issues. It’s so hard to get your money back thru them.
So many people are saying that LaDonna, I can guarantee that I will be booking directly through hotels from now on!!

Heather, the same thing happened to us! We booked through the Wyndham app. We went across the street and found a room! I know exactly how you felt! What a mess. Luckily no problem with the charges.
Wow Sandy you too?? I was really upset that they didn't contact me and it had been shut down for 2 weeks!! I agree it really was a mess...glad you were able to find a room at such late notice. I don't think everyone was that lucky!!

Heather, I am so sorry about room. However, I am glad you showed that part because a situation similar happened to me thru 3 party booking. I will never again reserve thru 3 party. I have heard so many complaints. On the great side, your hat pins were AWESOME!😅 Great video. I know you had a great time & are exhausted. REST🩷🩷 p.s. Thank you Katie for taking her in.🩷
Yes, I have learned my lesson and do not plan on making reservations through Priceline again..that's for sure!! Sending you & Linda big hugs!!
I used to have wonderful experiences with Priceline. I am a gold member! But, something similar happened to me just this August. They did not refund my money and I had to do a chargeback through my credit card company. But, like with Heather, they told me they had to talk to a third party with whom they actually did the booking!! Nope, never again.

The motels anywhere near he fairgrounds are fully booked for months in advance for the Extravaganza weekends so you were probably not the only person stranded without a room. Of course, that does not make your dilemma any better. You are lucky that Katie took you in. I have often wondered if the fairgrounds would let people sleep in their cars in the parking lot if you can't get a close reservation at a motel. They do have a campground that is available to rent by the night on the fairground property. I hope you were still able to have a good time and found a lot of goodies at the Extravaganza!
Indeed, it was not a convenient time to be displaced!! I was considering the campground as an alternate option, but was so happy to share Katies AirB&B apartment...it was inside of a Victorian house!! I slept on the sofa so that Katie could have her room to herself...but she even offered to share the bed (no way was I going to take the chance of disturbing her beauty sleep) - safe to say she was my heroine for the weekend ❤.
I love that place.
