    Researchers studying Pseudomonas bacteria found that dead bacteria that were killed by silver could go on to kill other bacteria through silver reserves built up in their tiny little corpses. So, zombie bacteria, basically. Source: www.sciencemag.org/news/2015/05/silver-turns-bacteria-deadly-zombies

    There is a 0% chance that any treatment will reduce how often I wash workout clothes.

    but, but.. you didn't explain why silver kills bacteria, that "yeah, it works" it's a bit unprofessional, especially in a science channel, also is the bacteria the only source of stink?

      They make short explanation here 0:47

    • @cout970
      @cout970 5 років тому +5

      yeah, but the explanation is too vague, saying that the silver kill the bacteria by stopping the processes that make it live, is almost like saying that silver kills the bacteria because it dies.

      Cout970 all bacteria need to “breathe” through a chemical lung which is really just an enzyme. Silver inhibits this enzyme and makes it so cells can no longer metabolize oxygen.

      @cout970 no. 1 silver nps have high surface to volume ratio due to their small size. So when they are in contact with bacterial cells the positive silver ions can react with multiple cellular components at a time like attached to negative bacterial cell wall, react with bacterial DNA atoms, enzymes, proteins. Silver electrons react with adsorbed oxygen to form reactive oxygen species such as O2.- free radicals and OH - radicals which are very reactive can form further free radicals in the system of bacterial cells and interupt cell reactions.

    Hmm, this makes me wonder if I spritz a super dilute solution of AgNO3 on my clean clothing; if this could help me not stink by day's end. I'm a medical biller by trade and fighting with insurance companies that don't want to pay REALLY works up a mean sweat.

      You need/deserve a silver-infused superhero suit, honestly.

      Maybe you can use it to make silver nanoparticel instead by mixing it with reducing agent.

    no no no you have to have silver threads, and wear a lil battery to make colloidal silver out of your sweat

      Dead American Best American composting, it’s great. Basically can great a loop system where what you compost is added to soil, which will greatly benefit the process of growing more food, but it’s not limited to growing food. It protects plant life against viruses, supplies minerals, and holds onto a lot of water. It’s a great solution and not that difficult I do it myself, it’s a fun hobby that’s very satisfying.

    Sorry but no matter how big the impact on the environment is, as long as there IS one, I don't see why you would advertise this. Even if I'm a chemistry student who can see why this is fancy and all.
