Tony was a great actor. It’s refreshing to hear how open and honest he is about his life and what a life that’s been.

Tony Curtis was a great actor. I am shocked at his apperance here. He must have been very ill from the after effects of the alcoholism and drug abuse. May he now RIP from all his demons he mentioned here. Let Tony's tears and words of painful wisdom sink in to everyone against drugs and alcohol abuse.

It wasn't drugs or drink. He had a heart attack 4 years before he died of another heart attack. He was in a coma the first heart attack. He looks bloated and probably taking heart medications. Plus he's overweight.

He had stopped drinking and using drugs many years before this interview. At the time of this interview he was recovering from a very serious pneumonia. He had been hospitalized for 3 months. He mentions it in part 1.

He also suffered from COPD from years of cigarettes. He quit smoking in his early 50's, but the damage to his lungs was done and that is what ultimately killed him. The drugs for COPD are steroids and they make a person appear bloated.

stupid questions from this interviewer. couldn't she just let tony follow his train of thought? couldn't she have let him elaborate on his desire to "be a hero" instead of changing the subject

I do not like him. I never have. Could he do great things on the movie screen? For sure. But he was not a great person. He used drugs with his children (Jaime Lee of course), he called kissing Marilyn in Some like it hot like kissing Hitler because she was so troubled that she appeared hours late on set - i mean - he was pretty much of a low life who got a lucy break because he was good looking. And let's not forget: the only reason because they were all there and that that movie with Suger Kane became iconic was because of one blonde. Not because of him.

norma desmond At first place your the one In need of "not to forget".... Not forget he left us lots of good entertainment, not forget he left us his art which was compaired to Henri Matisse, not forget he left behind The Emanuel Foundation For Hungarian Culture for which is greatly beloved in Hungary, don't forget he was a WWII veteran who joined the Navy at the age of 16 for all of us would have a better world to live in...as you see you have many things for not forgetting about Mr Bernard Herschel Schwartz(aka Tony Curtis);his memory deserves much more respect and gratefulness

@@miriamcontini7585 I don't forget that he made some great movies. The greatest for sure was Some like it hot. And then he blew it by saying that kissing Marilyn was like kissing Hitler - that says a lot about his character. You can say that someone was a good entertainer, but also say that he was not a decent human beeing. There is nothing wrong with that. It's the truth. And that's more important then the image Hollywood created for stars in those days.

norma desmond Congrats if you're in love with Marilyn, she was so beautiful and lovely but she was a nightmare to work with, all of the people at the set of SLIH were so upset because of her behavior, the great Billy Wilder used to blame her for his health issues and Clark Gable's widow would blame her for her husband's dead, she never could forgive her....Marilyn had to deal with her own demons till the end of her life...She,just like Mr Curtis, had a heartbreaking childhood, they both had severe traumas which drove them to express'em in different ways...Maybe as l'v studied Psychology l'm able to understand'em instead of making a wrong thought by saying if someone was "decent" or not...It's unfair to judge someone so easily;in other hand SLIH's the best comedy ever made(unless in my opinion)it's a master class and we owe it to ALL involved in The making of movie...All of them were fabulous and irrepeteable ones not only Marilyn...But this isn't the only top work Curtis gave...your missing Sweet Smell of Success (best noir l'v ever seen in my whole life),The Defiant Ones, and what about The Boston Strangler, have you had the chance to watch it?Stunning movie and Curtis was simply superb...He was a human being, with his ups and downs, with his own tragedies and happiness,he was so deeply vulnerable as Marilyn was....There were and still are many actors with no "pretty nice way of living" and l don't see'em being so blaming and underrated as Curtis was/is...l'm thinking of racist actors, guns lover actors, ungratefull actors,l remember very well one of them being suspected to murder his own wife, our dear Natalie Wood...but people reactions seems not to be the same ones...hipocresy?Surely;the saddest point of all this stuff is that to my eyes many people would never forgive Mr Tony Curtis because he was born in extreme poverty to a hungarian jewish inmigrants parents, they would never forgive him from coming from the Bronx, they would never forgive him for his Bronx's accent,in fact he was always mockered by it,they would never forgive him for being so handosome, talented but "jew" and the most of all they would never forgive him for ramaining being Bernie Schwartz throughout his whole life even when he had became a great icon of the silver screen.Sad but true.
