Gold is a widowmaker of an instrument IMO. DXY correlation is not always a given at all. Gold does what gold wants, and is heavily manipulated. Having traded it a LOT I would say the best advice for trading gold is knowing when NOT to trade gold. It is great for scalping but a lot of people oversize positions to boost profit potential (Im guilty) and get shafted when the market turns hard and fast. Silver is also strongly correlatd to gold, often mimicking golds moves but it is a lot cheaper to trade but still with good profit potential.

Like you said gold hates high yeilds and thrives in ZIRP type environment, watching the US02Y & the US10Y in conjunction with the DXY is a game changer. Using this I was able to add yet another strong criteria for confluence in my machenical strategy
@@aaronchong2194 there's usually an inverse correlation between yeilds and gold. I usually use yeilds as a confirmation for the implied move on gold. I don't buy or sell gold unless the yeilds confirm the movement of the dxy

Been in long all week but didn’t take any profit off, going for a longer trade slowly adding positions with a mind that we will retest 2000, and of course, it cascades down with a massive upswing in USD strength. Made a few losses on some of these positions which sucks, but I have longs off 1960 still holding. Perhaps this run up in the past week is false and we should expect further down moves. If the FED hikes we could see a retest of the lows. In hindsight I should have seen the pivot on 1986 as a dead giveaway for a false break reversal, but I didn’t see it. I’m still going to hold my long positions because gold is still heavily bought by institutional traders. If I take the loss I take the loss, it will not severely impact my account. I think it’s likely we have further weakening of the dollar to go.
I think if gold can convincingly break the 1980s we could be in for a run back to the highs, but it might take multiple attempts to do so. It’s getting there though, the fundamental case for gold is good. Even if the fed raises rates it’s likely they pause for a while then start cutting next year, so institutional traders will be factoring that in.
Am I Being Stupid? What if a million PEOPLE bought £1000 worth of gold at the same time, surely the price will rocket to a high price and then if all of the million people sold at the same time the price would drop. Does that make sense? if so then why not keep repeating the process and everyone of the million people become millions after a short period. Surely a Billion pounds would make a difference to the market movement? So am i being stupid?

Only thing that matters is, which ever broker you use in demo br sure to use the same broker in your live account so the entry and exits points will line up exactly. Different brokers are like differ t banks and every one has their distinctive differences for whatever reason(s).

In my view.. there's nothing to worry about.. different brokers use different liquidity providers thus variations in charts
