Tom, thank you for all you have shared with all of us over the years. The rod reviews, the insights, the beautiful places you fish. Thank you for allowing us to join you. No one knows what the future holds, but I do know you can't keep a good man down, and you, sir, are a good man. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Thank you for the extra life your videos have given me.. in 2013 I hit rock bottom. Doctors said to get my affairs in order.. gone through many near death experiences and bed ridden to wheel chair to cane. It was fishing that kept me going through the tough bits. Even have a Tenkara rod that I try to use.. still can't walk enough to get into the streams but I got to walk through you and that silly camera on your head. Best wishes to you. Destiny
Tom, I am so sorry about what has happened to you. The contributions you have made to Tenkara fly fishing are singular and unparalleled. You have used science and logic to delineate T-rods and their casting and fishing dynamics above and beyond the sales pitches of the more common rod reviews. You have done us all a great service no one else has come close to matching. Recently, I have also experienced a life changing medical event - my balance and the lack of muscle strength in my legs has gotten so bad that I can no longer negotiate Mountains and wade in streams safely. I am on a blood thinner also, for hart problems, so even minor falls have become life threatening. I have never been able to visualize my life with out fishing. Now, it appears I have no choice. Tenkara fly fishing gave me an additional 11 years of angling over what I could have done with Western tackle because it gave me a free hand to use a wading staff, and more pleasure in my fishing than I had ever known before. And you contributed greatly to my Tenkara happiness, thank you Tom for all you have so kindly done…Karl.
Tom, I’ve watched and loved every one of your videos since I started with Tenkara several years ago. Thinking about you and praying that you’re able to recover. -Randy
Hi Tom, You don’t know me but you are a very big source of inspiration in my Tenkara journey. Your vlog is the reason why I’ve started Tenkara. Your videos are so much inspiring and I’ve learned a lot watching you on the water. I wish you the best in this moment…Prayers for you from France.
Tom I can't thank you enough for how much you've helped me learn Tenkara. And for the Mizuchi that I enjoy. Amongst other things. Like me now getting to share the fun of Tenkara with my wife and grandkids. So from our family to you and yours. Prayers, positivity and togetherness! Take care and heal up the best you can Tom!! 🙏🏻
Tom, May The Lord Jesus Christ fully heal and protect you in His abundant Love and care always. I keep you in my prayer. You are a blessing to all who know you, please keep in touch with us your viewers. God Bless you ! Your vlogs are the best.
You’ve been a big influence of me starting fishing Tenkara , never fly fished until I purchased the Mizuchi. The most important thing is you getting better and getting back to what you love doing , my prayers are with yo and God bless…
Hi Tom, I just became aware of Tenkara a little over a year ago from a vlog by Tristan Higbee. It intrigued me and with very little searching I came upon your vlogs. To shorten the story, you introduced me to and partially trained me ina couple of the most enjoyable past-times I've been able to experience in my life; Tenkara fishing and fly tying. I've fished much during my 72 years but nothing has compared to this form of fishing. I just wanted to let you know how your influence contributed so greatly to my life. As with others that have commented, I pray for your medical recovery and return to the streams you are so fond of. I'll be continuing to watch and learn. Thanks again Tom, and God bless you.
Sorry to hear this Tom. Your videos have been incredibly instructive and informative and I have enjoyed getting to know the guy doing them. Prayers and you are right, things aren’t important compared to family and friends. Pray we see you next spring with things resolved
Wishing you a speedy recovery and sending prayers and good vibes to you! Thanks for always sharing your knowledge of tenkara with us along with your vast vlog! It was great to meet you even if it was brief! 🙌Thank you so much Tom!
I've enjoyed each and every video you've posted ! I enjoy any type of fishing content , especially Tenkara , which is fairly new to me . Do what you need to for your health , we will watch whatever you post . For now , take care of yourself . My thoughts and prayers are with you for recovery and better days ahead !!👍
Thank you, Tom, for this thoughtful message and for all the videos. It’s been a pleasure to ride along with your adventures. You’re an inspiration. Wishing you a full recovery. 🙏🏼❤️
Always find your vlogs soothing and relaxing focusing on being in the moment and not trying to sell me something. And of course the locations we know you fish in. Be well, sir. And may the good Lord be close in your recovery.
You are my UA-cam mentor for Tenkara. Without your dedication and work in this subject I would have never known about the magic of Tenkara fishing. I wish you well and a fast recovery. 😉👍
Take care Tom. I'll pray for your good health. Thanks for sharing your expertise online. I learned a lot and have take up Tenkara, in part, because of your sharing.
Tom, I certainly want to tell you that you are in my prayers! You have played a big role in my great life experience with Tenkara. Sometimes, people you never meet can have some of the biggest impacts on your life and Tom you are one of those in my life. Good luck!
In addition to the love of your family, this amazing Tenkara community also loves you too. Best wishes and glad to see this update to put our minds at ease to see you out of the hospital in your home. I have enjoyed all content you produced between Teton, and TA but however long you need to get through this medical phenomenon is unanimously accepted and we want nothing but the best for you. I am going to give my wife and kids an extra hug today feeling inspired that I am nothing without them. Thank you for reminding me about that. God speed.
Tom wishing you a speedy recovery and better health. You have helped me in many ways in my Tenkara journey. I thank you so much for sharing your experience with Tenkara.
Tom, very sorry to hear about your health issues. Pray for a recovery and hope you can get back to fishing. Have loved your vlogs over the years and your tenkara fly books. Take care and keep on smilin. Your Tenkara friend, Jon
Ditto to every expression of gratitude, and especially wishes for your well-being. Tenkara would simply not be Tenkara without your consistent and well thought out contributions. I have benefited greatly from your hard work and even made my wading stick according to your design. As an aside - I didn't see any reference in any of the current posts to the music you used in earlier recordings. I will ALWAYS be very thankful for learning about Acoustic Eidolon from you. Everybody needs to check them out. My personal favorite is "To Be Alive". Get well soon, and thanks.
Hi Tom, I'm sorry to hear this and I hope you get well soon. I've actually been following your blog for a few years now. But the most important thing of all is, as you say, having the affection of your friends and the greatest and most unconditional love of your entire family accompanying you. Hugs.
Psalms 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” You have had such a powerful effect on me and my personal Tenkara journey. Tom, you have sharpened me, and for that I sincerely thank you. You are in my prayers.
I'm relieved you are safe Tom! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, you have helped many like me. Tenkara will be a joy to last me I hope the rest of my life.
Well said Tom. We all have our “stuff” life throws at us but that’s not what defines us. It’s how we handle the “events” that defines us. Eight years ago out of no where I ended up in complete heart failure with an Ejection Fraction of 15 percent. I was “waking dead” without any cardiac history. The cardiac transplant team deemed my heart too weak for even a transplant. Through the grace of God and many months of rehab I was actually able to go back to work and complete a 32 year career as an Arlington Texas Firefighter. Now retirement(busy as ever) is great. I train other firefighters now on a schedule I get to make which includes lots of travel. That travel rarely does not include a Tenkara rod or two(or more) in the RV. Best of luck on your recovery. Faith, family and attitude are the largest variables in recovery! Thanks for the time you’ve given to the “Tenkara world” to share your knowledge and experiences! Prayers to see more in the future! Oh, and I do still blame you for some of rod purchases I’ve made because I realized I “NEEDED” certain rods after some of your reviews(at least that’s what I’ve told my wife)! 🤔🤷🏻♂️😂 Neil
Thank you Tom. I got hooked on Tenkara a little over 2 years ago after stumbling upon yours and Tristan's channels and websites. You helped create a new love for fishing, which I had not done in years, and now I can't get enough of it even though I don't make it out as much as I would like. I greatly enjoy watching your vlogs and learning from the information on your website. You have been in my prayers and will continue to be. May the Lord continue to bless you in your recovery and may you enjoy your time with your family (definitely the most important). I look forward to watching more of your videos as you post them. Thank you again.
Tom, so sorry to hear this news about your misfortune. Take great care and thanks so much for going above and beyond the call of duty by continuing to share your tenkara experience and observations with us.
You SIR have been a MAJOR influence on me and i am certain a whole lot of others attempting to Tenkara fly fish. I am happy you are ‘still with us’ and as others have said…no one knows the future. ! LIFE Turns for ALL of us❤ Get Well Be Happy❤
Thanks for sharing your insights and adventures...your online reviews and videos gave me the knowledge to purchase my first tenkara rods with comfidence. And I've loved both of them ever since. Again, thank you. Good luck with your challenges. I'll be rooting for you.
Good luck with your future. You have inspired me and my tenkara friend, and many others I feel sure. I am old enough to appreciate what you and we have left 🤞💪
All believers, please agree in this prayer for Tom! Lord we ask that you would please touch Tom and bring him complete healing, in Jesus name.🙏 Appreciate you Tom, I will be keeping you in my prayers. Keep those videos coming and get back to the creek when you can. We'll all be here when you're ready.🩶 Matthew 18:19-20: "Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. Dear Tom, Thank you for sharing your experiences, thoughts, expertise and friendship for this so many over all these years. May God bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, and give you peace. Steve
Your everyday kindness makes us better fishermen and an example of how to be a better person. In between listening to your doctor, wife and kids, enjoy rewatching your vlogs, because I know that I will. Take care, Doctor. Mitch Albin
I have enjoyed all your videos, but more importantly your friendship (your flies are top notch as well). Thank you for the messages back and forth about rods and for pushing me to get the TB 36/40…they are as good as advertised. I hope you nothing but the best in healing and will check in from time to time.
Release more videos if it brings you peace and happiness. Being new to Tenkara I’ve enjoyed the sincerity of your videos. You are correct, your health and recovery are the most important things always. Where the road takes you it’s easier with family and friends at your side.
Speedy recovery Tom!!! Yours are among my favorite videos to watch!!! Trust that I will be here checking in regardless of how long it takes...Looking forward to seeing you out there again!!! Cheers and Healing Mojo sent your way!!!
Wishing you God speed for a quick and complete recovery . . . as a novice Tenkara supporter I can't explain the "emptiness" I experience not being able to watch your videos which I found so beneficial to my learning experience with Tenkara. I'm just so sorry that I came on the scene so late in life at 80 years of age.
Dear Dr Tom, I have closely followed your Blog and watched your Vlog adventures since 2017 and Thank You for sharing with us. You have been a tremendous help for my Tenkara journey. I am so sorry to hear about your medical issue and I will keep you in prayer. I have been able to overcome a string of very serious medical issues beginning in 2018. *In late 2022 I was told I could not hike, or even fly commercial due to cabin pressure at cruising altitude! Through God's Grace, maintaining a good attitude, my Doctors’ treatments with ongoing medication, dietary guidance and moderate exercise, I was finally cleared to hike again in early 2024 so I can once again enjoy the beauty and solitude, but do so with reduced goals. I will pray you can do the same Sir.
You SIR have been a MAJOR influence on me and i am certain a whole lot of others attempting to Tenkara fly fish. I am happy you are ‘still with us’ and as others have said…no one knows the future. ! LIFE Turns for ALL of us❤
