  • This shows how to make a "dream machine" which is a pulley system using gymnastics rings. A tour of my DIY home gym is here: • DIY Home Gym Workout R...
    I got the rings on Amazon: goo.gl/Lx0LFa
    This set up increases your lifting force, thanks to the pulleys, making things like muscle ups, pull ups, iron cross, planche, etc. much easier. Of course, this is just one tool for doing these activities.
    The harness is also Amazon, but it's no longer available. This is another harness that looks more comfortable than the one I used: amzn.to/2Ym1uMf
    These are the pulleys I used, also from Amazon.com: goo.gl/0bzbBl

    This is great stuff. I saw a guy in a gym doing panche, iron cross and maltese cross with this kind of gear. I think rings muscle up is relatively easy skill for the hassle of building this, but completely worth it for other skills.

      muscle ups are easy? hahaha no. How many can you do?

    • @areoh2005
      @areoh2005 Рік тому +1

      @@Teramydog before surgery on my tricep tendon I could do 5. I say it's easy because I've got the first one after 3 months of training from 0 pullups. Once you get to 3-4 pullups, you may start trying to do the transition.

    We used to call those illusion machines back in the 80"s and used to play "add on" after workouts. Thanks.

    Great Video! I built my dream machine and it's alot of fun. It's good for higher skills likes maltese, victorian, iron cross but no so for basic exercises on rings.

    Nice idea and good instructions, thanks. For those for whom this set-up is not feasible, like me, a similar effect can be achieved by band-assisted muscle-ups with a long band connected to both rings and under your knees / feet

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  7 років тому

      YES, you're absolutely right. I have another video on band-assisted muscle ups here: ua-cam.com/video/KJ9QFKy-_18/v-deo.html It's amazing what you can do with a few rubber bands!

    Love it! What do you think about shortening the rope and connecting a reg ring band to the rope so you can adjust the length more easily? Would that work? Would you need to run the rope through a metal pipe or something first?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  3 роки тому +1

      I think it's worth trying, as more adjustment would be nice

    Hi, thanks for the guide! What do you suggest for rope? Is there any rope on amazon that looks good?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  6 років тому

      I think I put a link in the description beneath the video ... Any thin, strong rope will work as long as it doesn't stretch

  • @Ace-zb5xr
    @Ace-zb5xr 4 роки тому

    Great tutorial. If you used one single rope and threaded it through both D-rings, would it still work?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  4 роки тому

      I think you’d have off balance issues but it’s worth a shot

  • @AzadC
    @AzadC 7 років тому

    Because of the low load 50% bodyweight will this mean that you can do this everyday to build up for a muscle up. Or is using a band better than this.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  7 років тому

      +A.C.A:1995 ... it's much easier this way but building up takes a diverse work plan

      Model? Cost when you got it?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  6 років тому

      This is the exact one I bought ... price was about $50 ... padding is key if you're going to be hanging on belay or doing tree work or whatever ... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005D50W82/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    10/10 for your video. This is a 50 to 50 weight ratio. so in theory if you wear a weight vest by adding 10kg gradually to get 100% which is same as free rings when you reached 100% iron cross without dream machine.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  Рік тому +1

      @@metaspencer imagine you had just one hook on your back, that would increase load again, may be 60 to 40. I am building one like yours twin pulley just to complete my iron cross.
