I remember my days working at a crematorium seeing the prison guards with the person chained to them , looked so awkward for the guards we would get a phone call days in advance from the prison but we did our best to treat the prisoner with same respect as everyone else
Real Prison Officers like you and myself who do the job correctly and do get injured from time to time will admit as I will I have be scared to death on more than one occasion. I always treated inmates with respect and was respected for it but when an inmate kicked off I stood my ground even if I knew I was going down, it’s all about how the other inmates see you. That doesn’t mean that at the time you’re not scared shitless. There is always someone harder than you. Talking inmates down got me out of more trouble than anything thing else.
Yep been there done that in my 30 years, on more than one occasion inmates helped me out difficult situations, gaining respect is important especially in the cat A environment
@ I worked in a Cat A High Risk Prison and like you on a few occasions had inmates come to my aid when things out of my control went bad. If you treat them fairly and with the same respect you would expect you will get along with most of the lads. I did work with officers who made inmates lives difficult and I hated it as it made a more fraught shift with your guard up constantly. Prison is bad enough without the odd bad apple making it worse.

My lovely ex husband, who I am now friends with again, was a Prison Officer at Pentridge Prison in Melbourne Australia when we met. He worked there until it was closed down and then went to Port Philip Prison which was privately run by group 4. It did affect him at home, he was lied to all day by crooks and then assumed that we were lying to him at home which became a problem, he was a germaphobe and my son is now the same because he saw his dad disinfect himself when he got home. But the worst part was the way it made him lose his softness, he became very hard and lost a lot of his compassion. When we had a stillborn daughter, he would just leave me sobbing, he didn’t know how to deal with it and his empathy was nearly non existent. This contributed to the end of our marriage sadly. We had another stillborn baby, a son, and it was just too much for both of us and that was it. But I still love him, just in a different way, he is the father of my children, and I fell in love with him for a reason. He will always be an important part of my life and hopefully I am to him. He rings me for the babies birthdays and Mother’s Day even after over 20 yrs. He has mellowed a lot with age and is softer than he was, he is a sweetheart.

They never came back to work and the OSG driver was traumatised as the attackers even continued to chase them in a vehicle. Sam ive a funny story about a funeral & jail.i was in Blundeston doing 9yrs when I applied for day release to attend a funeral ( as u know 7 ot above is home office) well I was told I can go if taken under escort which I refused saying some family didn't know I was inside, a fair few staff said cmon look ill take you but I said no, inmates was also saying go butno I refused, that wk I got my cat C & was called in saying we will take you, I refused & was told by the security PO " look we're giving you this day you MUST BE BACK B4 7.30pm Well my girlfriend picked me up at 8.15am ( in my suit) when I got back I told a few close friends I couldn't go under escort as I didn't know the deceased person - it was in my local paper someone died with my surname & the undertakees time etc - as you'll know they call the funeral home asking do you have such n such & when is the service, I couldn't go under escort as I knew no one at all they would of been who is this handcuffed 😂, 4 days later a bloody great officer said how was yr day in such n such hotel with ya girlfriend ? Turns out he see me walking out to return to Blundeston & his wife was the receptionist 😂, i was what some would call a cheeky chap ( or cockney wanka by a few from up north 😋 ) needless to say I aquired legend status amung staff at Blundeston, I was sad to hear they closed it as it had some fantastic staff who always went above & beyond - I also got found locked out of my cell at gone 1am one night we had night sanitation ( same as long lartin gartree etc & that story is good too, in reality I should of been in patches on the book for attempted escape but they understood my door lock ( they are electric) often played up ( if u was out more than 6 mins you got a charge sheat but I often had to push call & ask please lock my door it won't lock ( after being out 20 mins) this night I closed my door as always when going reccess ( landing windows made it freezing) when I got back control mihead & thought they heard olease lock my door ( how could I from outside- if cell doors had a big gap under to pass things maybe he heard me talking & locked my door 😋 - some great staff in that place Sam & I kept em on thier ties 😂😂😂 God bless The Cockney wanka 👌😂
Most prison officers spread about inmates convictions and caused most of the fights and harm si they could lock down and go home early especially fridays bank Holidays
I attended my mother's funeral at tyneside I was brought up from Walton cuffed and chained to an officer and accompanied by another with the driver I had previously been granted my HDC and was due out 10 days after my mother was to be buried the wing so and po and other screws count understand why I wasn't just ROTL but for some reason they would not allowed this I was taken up in a minibus by 2 officers that were such gentlemen and understanding of my situation the mini bus pulled to the funeral early and lot of my friends had gatherer to pay there respects to my mother and also see me the screws on bus app9logised they couldn't allow me off the bus due to being around 20 friends around the coach and the security risk it was so they let me sit with the door open talking to my pals an officer even asked did I want too carry my mum and he would walk next to me and do his best to hide the chain I refused as didn't think it right I took my mam to her final resting place in chains after the funeral the officers stayed back and let the people from the funeral come up to me cuddle me and give there condolences my son stayed back in his car in car park and was allowed to give me a huh then it was back to Walton for 10 days before release those off8cers that accompanied me were pure gentlemen and made me see that all officers ain't dogs and some have compassion
ive had 22 years as a prisoner custody officer working at birmingham crown court i had simler expirence on a bed watch i was cuffed to the prisoner belive it or not the outher two staff dissapeared leaving me alone with the prisoner it was scary situation god knows where they went .fortunatley the prisoner was ok if he had been a dickhead i would have been in trouble

Turns out he see me walking out to return to Blundeston & his wife was the receptionist 😂, i was what some would call a cheeky chap ( or cockney wanka by a few from up north 😋 ) needless to say I aquired legend status amung staff at Blundeston, I was sad to hear they closed it as it had some fantastic staff who always went above & beyond - I also got found locked out of my cell at gone 1am one night we had night sanitation ( same as long lartin gartree etc & that story is good too, in reality I should of been in patches on the book for attempted escape but they understood my door lock ( they are electric) often played up ( if u was out more than 6 mins you got a charge sheat but I often had to push call & ask please lock my door it won't lock ( after being out 20 mins) this night I closed my door as always when going reccess ( landing windows made it freezing) when I got back control mihead & thought they heard olease lock my door ( how could I from outside- if cell doors had a big gap under to pass things maybe he heard me talking & locked my door 😋 - some great staff in that place Sam & I kept em on thier ties 😂😂😂
God bless
The Cockney wanka 👌😂
Nice One Mate
You got a new dog ❤
I’ve got to say as an officer I never had to do an escort for a funeral but had plenty of awkward moments on hospital escorts
Thanks Sam appreciate you sharing that horrible memory irish viewer

How do Brian, hello Mr Samworth god bless ❤❤
Most prison officers spread about inmates convictions and caused most of the fights and harm si they could lock down and go home early especially fridays bank Holidays
Hi SAM RESPECT ❤
